...Office.org for example. PDF is a portable file format and can be read by many operating systems as long as they have Adobe Reader installed. Perhaps a disadvantage of using this feature is that PDF files are usually considerably larger than the programs native format. Some text formatting options aren't available, or at least I haven't found them. Unlike Office you cant add shadow, or do some of the advanced formatting like in Word. This is where larger businesses might find that they will require another product. As default, things like Word Art can't be found in "Writer". However this has been cleverly hidden under a pencil icon which when clicked on will launch a bar along the bottom with options for auto shapes and word art (called "Fontwork Gallery") in OpenOffice.org. Mulder calls to tell Scully that the X-Files have been shut down, and they have both been reassigned, but that he is still not giving up. The characters of Mulder and Scully are very interesting, we have Mulder who's mind is open to everything and Scully who is totally skeptical about everything and must find the scientific explanation for everthing. One of the things you should look out for when choosing a file-sharing program is the security features. You have to remember that you are effectively opeing up your hard disk to investigation by other members on the same network as you so you don't want some hacker being able to take a walk around your system! Most seem to ave this covered, there was a report about Morpheus being wide open to attack but ths has been officially denied, the source was iffy and no one has substantiated it - seems to be bunkum. ...Needing yet another chocolate fix I opened my pack of “Mint Madness” Options (which I had bought as a comparison to my Marshmallow Toppers). Options are basically a Low Calorie Chocolate Drinks, which comes in a variety of flavours. Price: 36pence for 2 x 22g sachets from Tesco. The Packaging A cloudy background with “Options” written in chocolatey coloured writing diagonally across the top left hand corner. In the centre there is a chocolate swirl with a Minty Green Centre and a picture of a mint leaves. Obviously this is for this specific flavour and the Orange would have an orange centre and so on. In the bottom left hand corner it says “Only 40 Calories per drink” in blue writing, again this varies from drink to drink. ...comes with its own music player as did Napster and it also come with its own video player, all in one package. One also has the option of being stingy and not sharing files with anyone. That is what I do, not a very good member of the KMD community but I have a slow connection and I don’t want people slowing me down! Unfortunately KMD has a small banner in the bottom left hand corner which serves as advertising space, KMD has to earn its makers money somehow right? Well the banner is not too offensive and doesn’t move around, getting in the way or anything of the sort. A major plus is that when KMD loads it doesn’t take any time to load all the files in the directory. The files are all there as soon as you open the program without that tiresome loading procedure found in Napster. I for one can never b bothered... Read review

'CONS' Nothing that should put you off if the sound of the content really resonates with you, but there can be a few technical hitches that can be annoying. - You have to have the latest version of Macromedia Flash installed. Still, you can click to install it on the opening page (for free) so it doesn't really matter. - Minimum of IE6 / Netscape 7. - Cookies need to be at least partially enabled for the site to work, you can't have it on the highest filter setting for them. - Little things can slow it down - set your PC to refresh every time and make sure the optional site background music is off if your browser is slow. ...finally had a BT engineer calling on 12th November. I was now filled with dread. BT had established themselves in my psyche as complete idiots. It was going to be another Screaming.net nightmare. ***UPDATE*** The registration process has, by all accounts, now eased considerably. Recent estimates given on broadband review sites time the whole process in days rather than weeks. Also, another option is now available whereby you do not have to have an engineer round to install the ADSL line. You now get a special "splitter" that plugs into your existing phone socket and splits the line into ADSL and ordinary phone calls. You do have to buy your own modem though, at a cost of between £60 and £150. But it's yours and you don't have to give it back if you change providers, of which there are now many. ...because I would just sign out if that were the case. You can also Appear Offline this is a good option if you want to say, see what e-mails are coming in but yet don't want to talk to anyone at that particular moment. It means you can be signed in if someone you want to talk to comes online but others will see you as offline until you sign in. So actually talking to people, this is done easy. If someone wants to talk to you they double click your name and then type something it will appear on my screen and then I click their name to open a chat window and vice versa for you talking to someone. As soon as someone responds to your conversation a message tone always sounds, this gets very irritating f you are on for a while and I tend to talk with the sound off. ...effort. You have a couple of options then, buy some creaky old secondhand monstrosity that sounds like a jet turbine or build your own. First thing to point out is I'm not computer expert, I play on them, I use them to surf the net and type my assignments etc, but in terms of what goes on inside I had an understanding but it was flakey. I knew where everything went but I'd never put one together myself, it was something I considered but my lack of experience was something that always but me off. Needs must though so I went hunting online for estimates on how much the whole lot would cost me. My former CPU (central processing unit or 'computer brain' for people who don't know better) was an AMD K6-2 350Mhz which was installed when I purchased my machine.
