The Advent of a new Laptop

Advantages: Easy to use, good screen size, reliable
Disadvantages: Poor battery life, becomes very hot when charging

...When my trusty old desktop PC decided to die on me earlier this year, it was a bit of a mixed blessing. I'd been toying with the idea of treating myself to a laptop and becoming more mobile with my internet hobbies but I was reluctant to shell out a lot of money when I had a perfectly good PC at home. When my PC was not quite so 'perfect' I had the ideal excuse to go laptop shopping but I still didn't want to pay out a lot of money, if I could help it. Deciding on the purchase Prior to buying this (in April 2009) we went to PC World to look at the options within our price bracket. I wanted to spend around £400, including software. Lego Belville Advent Calendar

Advantages: So much fun! Looks so cute. Unique and different
Disadvantages: Just for girls! Maybe not as Christmas themed as could be

...As a nice alternative to chocolate advent calendars, this year my boyfriend got me a 'Belville Lego Calendar' instead. I secretly wanted the 'Lego Advent Calendar' but since my boyfriend had got that one we couldn't have the same one! I was quite a big Lego fan when I was younger, and still am! But I am not so familiar with the 'Belville' selection of Lego since it is still quite new. Belville is the same as normal Lego.. but for girls. So lots of pink, girly and glittery things! Advent 7095 laptop- VFM

Advantages: quick, friendly, easy to use
Disadvantages: heats up quickly and gets too hot to touch, battery life is short

...Where do i start? This Advent laptop is excellent value for money, I'm not sure of the exact criteria but i know that i haven't had a mojor problem with mine yet. Although that's for what I use it for, mainly internet, emailing and the occasional small game. If you want a laptop for gaming, this isn't the laptop for you, it's designed for people like me who use it daily and want a reasonably fast internet connection and to write essays and papers- as it doesn't have very many additional features other than a built in webcam in the top of the screen. The durability of this laptop also seems to be rather good in my perspective and experience because I actually dropped it on the floor and the cat knocked it off the table about 4 months ago and, so far, no signs of damage other than a few scratches on the outside. ...I purchased my Advent 3070 9 months ago from PCWorld. My previous computers had been home constructed affairs, however, when you buy a Motherboard from this Co. Memory from that Co. Periferals from a variety of others and you experience problems finding some faults can be very awkward as each tries to blame the other. So I ended up selecting something with reasonable power. I also wanted a Digital Camera, Scanner and Printer all with Buy now - Pay 9 months later. So to that end it had to be a one-time buy System. Within the first month I had a HDD failure, and to be fair to PCWorld they repaired it PDQ and replaced the 30Gb with a better 40Gb for my trouble. When I bought it in June 1999 I was a complete novice and bought the machine that I thought would suit me for surfing the net and general word processing for work, and my husband for games.
