Reviews of advent speakers
Advent is shockingly good value for money
Review of Advent 3418 - P4 3.2 GHz by
alfyopare
Advantages: Excellent value for money very Durable and robust
Disadvantages: you might need to upgrade the memory to 1gb to handle current operating systems
...card though it struggles with some video games like MicrosoftsFlight simulator and Simcity 4.
Sound Card C-Media 9739A AC'97
Speakers Advent SP-120N - I don't like the speakers they don't measure up to my sound requirements so i have upgraded the speakers (not the sound card) the sound card is brilliant.
Network Card Intel 82562EZ
Keyboard Advent PS/2 keyboard - the keyboard was very good but i replaced it later with a Microsoft keyboard
and mouse (wireless).
I am currently running Microsoft's latest operating system Vista on this machine with no problems whatsoever.
Advent is not one of the well known brands, but comparing it to an expensive Sony VAIO that i had that broke down so completely, i am proud to say this PC offers excellent value for money and is very durable....

Intriguing I - Trigue
Review of Creative I-Trigue L3500 by
flooda
Advantages: Good sound quality. Easy to connect. Not a lot of loose wiring.
Disadvantages: The remote control is still wired.
...Most people now use their desktop PC for many other purposes than in the past.
The advent of CD and DVD burners, that allow you to download both music and feature films from the web, means that you can now use your PC to listen to music and watch movies.
I don’t have a DVD burner, but often use my PC to listen to music both on pre-recorded CD’s, and music that I have stored in MP3 format on my hard drive.
I’ll also sometimes watch a pre-recorded DVD on my PC if my daughter or hubby is hogging the main television.
The problem I used to have with this was that my old PC speakers were very basic, and simply didn’t cut it when it came to sound quality.
But I recently bought myself a brand new set of speakers when browsing in the computer shop, PC World, which have made a huge difference to my enjoyment when...

Advent Rising: Simply Beautiful
Review of Advent Rising by
oxymoron_02
Advantages: Smashing, immersive story arc; haunting musical score; movie-esque widescreen
Disadvantages: Underfunded adventure cost Majesco dearly
...Advent Rising is a third/first person action-adventure romp set throughout a few worlds and ships in the Advent Rising universe. The player controls Gideon Wyeth; one of the last surviving humans after a series of attacks by the evil Seekers; the propagators of a galactic alliance.
Legend has told of a race called humans whom will one day ascend into great power and bring harmony to the galaxy, uniting the races under an umbrella of prosperity. The Seekers, frightened by this, start their galactic alliance in order to influence the other races' views of humans. For the Aurelians, nothing can sway them.
With the Aurelians' help, can Gideon avert a human extinction at the hands (and they have four!) of the Seekers?
When I saw Advent Rising in the store, it was cheap. I'm a sucker for cheap goods even if I don't need them. There...

ditch the beige box
Review of Advent 5490 by
welshlad33
Advantages: takes up less space
Disadvantages: cost more than a pc of the same spec
...Having a family with 2 young children who use our home computer for their homework and being married to some body who is addicted to online gaming it was getting increasingly difficult to get a look in on my computer.
I decided to get a second one but did not have the space to put it so decided on a lap top.
I saw an offer in my paper for an advent 5490 so decided to purchase one.
I thought it would do as a back up when I couldnt get on the desk top pc but when I started using it I was amazed at what it could do.
It has a 900mhz intel celeron processor and 128 mb of ram which is a lot more powerfull than he pc we only bought 1 and a half years ago,and a dvd drive.
Once I got used to using the key board (which is a bit smaller than a pc key board)and the touch pad a now find the lap top much better to use and apart from not having a cd...

Advent has arrived
Review of Advent T9200 - P4 3.4 GHz - 19" TFT by
John1958
Advantages: Very fast, lots of memory
Disadvantages: not experienced any as yet
...- standard
Mouse - IR tracking (no balls!)
Speakers - Advent Stereo PC speakers
Software Included - MSWorks v.7; MS Windows MovieMaker; Adobe Acrobat v6; MS Windows MediaPlayer.
Colour/shape: Silver & mettalic blue/Tower
Price: £1,300 (included 19" TFT Advent Monitor - another WOW!)
From: PC World Store - Edinburgh. This model appears not to be available on line as yet.
Advantages:
This is super fast. Ideal for gameplayers - such as me. The graphics are really good - although the monitor does add immensely to the visual experience.
I also take a lot of photos. So the super-large hard drive is ideal for storage. As is the facility to write pictures to DVD.
This is also an advantage for storing and editing digital video film - another hobby of mine. Playback quality is good on DVD recordings although I've only experimented...

Review of Advent 3058 by
hokers
Advantages: Good build quality, excellent bundle of hardware and software, good value

...Introduction
Advent 3058 is a PC I have only ever seen on the website pcworld.co.uk.
I bought this in September of last year.
Specification
Athlon 750
128MB RAM
32MB nVidia TNT2 Graphics card
20 Gig HDD
DVD drive
Phillips 17" monitor
56K modem
AWE 64 soundcard
Standard keyboard, speakers, disk drive etc.
Windows 98, MS Office, games bundle
Price paid:
£803 including VAT + delivery
Opinion
I bought my PC from the pcworld.co.uk online store, (see my other review) and have been very pleased with it so far. Runs very quickly, plenty of storage, good bundled software. Windows 98 is vastly better than 95, and this PC is quite happy running 15 windows or so. The price I paid was a real bargain, I reckon about £200-250 less than I could have got elsewhere. Aside from this, it seemed to come bundled with everything I was looking for...

Amazing Advent Calendar
Review of Playmobil Holiday Advent by
ciaomeister1
Advantages: Playmobil Lasts and Lasts
Disadvantages: Not Cheap, Requires Setup
...When I was a little person, back in the seventies, Advent calendars were simple. They were made of cardboard, with a little, fairly predictable picture behind each window. How things change.
This year my parents decided to spoil their Grandchildren, nothing new there, and have bought them both very posh Advent calendars. Shortie, now aged 5, has a small collection of Playmobil which he adores, so my parents have given him a Playmobil Advent calendar.
°**° Advent Calendars, a brief background °**°
"Advent" comes from the Latin word adventus, which means "coming." Advent is the period of time before Christmas. Although Advent itself begins on the fourth Sunday before Christmas, ttraditional Advent calendars have windows or doors which are opened each day from December 1st to December 24th, Christmas Eve.

PROFOUND SURROUND SOUND
Review of Creative Inspire P5800 by
tractor-boy
Advantages: Amazing surround sound for the money, Simple setup, Nice looking
Disadvantages: The remote control is wired rather than fully remote, the subwoofer is very heavy
...have been impractical, not to mention expensive. My sound card would have supported a 7.1 setup (7 small speakers and a subwoofer) but as my computer room is on the small side I considered it would be speaker overkill and not deliver a much better sound that the 5.1 setup I went for. The last time I bought speakers I used my computer for web browsing and little else so a cheap duel system was all I required. Now though it is a different matter; the advent of broadband means I listen to radio online while the recent purchase of an ipod makes downloading and listening to music a major part of my computer usage. Add to that DVD playback and video streaming and it really was time to do these various operations justice with a top notch speaker system. And what a top notch speaker system the P5800 is!
All components are good looking and deliver...

7002 or 7006
Review of Advent 7002 by
chanby
Advantages: fast inexpensive notebook
Disadvantages: gets warm when rested on your legs
...The advent 7002 has now become the 7006 and has come down in price from a respectable £1499 to a very a affordable £1299 (I believe another £100 has or will be taken off)
For your money you get a 1.8 Pentium 4, a 30G hard drive, a 14.1 screen, and unusually for a notebook in this price range a DVD/CDRW. The features you get with this laptop are only normally seen on notebooks above the £1500 mark.
.
When I purchased this laptop (12 months interest free) I was informed that it came with a floppy drive, on arrival home I found it had not, I contacted Dixon’s where I had purchased it and they gave me a network cable to link the laptop to my desktop so I could use that floppy. (They also threw in a carry case)
Networking the 2 computers was made very easy by xp, which will set up and configure both computers for you
.
You also get a disk...
