...This is my last of my reviews of American theme parks, and I've saved the best park for last. Islands of Adventure (IoA) is part of the Universal Studios group and was built around 12 years ago (they were just building it the last time I had been to Universal). I was in Orlando with 3 friends so we were keen on theme parks with more exciting rides to offer and IoA did not disappoint. GETTING THERE: IoA is part of the same park complex that holds Universal Studios. As with most Orlando attractions it is fairly well signposted. You just need to get onto the I4, the main road through Orlando, and it is signposted off this. There is a ridiculous amount of parking available. Make sure you remember which character and which number you are parked in otherwise you'll be searching for that rental car for hours! Each section is...

This is a series of eight books that describe the exciting adventures of four children, Jack, Philip, Dinah and Lucy-Ann, along with their friend Bill and Jack?s parrot Kiki. These stories follow the same pattern as a great many of Enid Blyton?s books, in that a group of children will foil the plots of wicked men in a suitably exciting manner. Despite the apparent predictability of that pattern, the books themselves manage to be filled with plot twists that will keep you interested from start to finish. As this book opens, the four children are recovering from measles and have been told that they need to have a break. The Sims 3: World Adventures

Advantages: The countries are really detailed and the new Sims are great!
Disadvantages: Time doesn't pass when you're on holiday, adventures aren't very sim-like!

The shops have quite large amounts for your Sims to buy; so you can buy recipe books or ingrediants that are unique to that area, buy artifacts or other directions, etc. Much like in the base game you can visit the houses of other Sims and interact with the locals and their houses. If you do choose to take the adventure route, it's actually a lot more entertaining than I had anticipated - though it is very simple, so if you genuinely want to play a puzzle game this isn't the best choice! Sims will give you instructions and send you off round the country in an attempt to find various items - which is never quite as easy as a task as you'd think, as the adventures generally involve quite a few different strands! The Merchant Adventurers' Hall, York

Advantages: Lots of history
Disadvantages: Admission charges

...I have been to York many times but prior to my most recent visit I had never been to The Merchant Adventurers Hall. I had seen the signs for it but I was never too sure what it was and since its tucked away out of sight from the main thoroughfares it's a place I always forget to check out. A friend recently told me that this is a 14th century timber framed building that is the largest building of its type and age in Britain so I figured that this time around I ought to check it out. Built as a medieval guildhall in 1368 this is probably the oldest surviving building in York, although in an historical city like York there are several other places that also stake this claim. It is not to be confused with the nearby Merchant Taylor's Hall, which was a mistake that I initially made. The Merchant Adventurers' Hall is tucked away down...

More Adventurous for the Kiley?

Advantages: Jenny Lewis, some of the shiniest pop-rock and country you'll hear
Disadvantages: Slow and unimpressive songs in the middle of the record

Even more incredibly, the band had managed to get a record deal with Warner Bros for the release, and it looked like this would finally be the album to break them into the public consciousness. Come 2004, and they were ready to release their new long-player to the public. And were met with nothing. For the third time in a row, they were ignored by the general public, although the album did get a few plays from "awesome" DJ Mark Radcliffe, which is something. But generally? nothing. Nobody really cared. Which is a mighty shame, because not only is More Adventurous a step up for Rilo Kiley, it also happened to be their most radio-friendly album yet. Oscar Wilde's obsession with books

Advantages: Full of fascinating information about Wilde's life and love of books
Disadvantages: None really, except maybe best enjoyed by those with some prior knowledge of Wilde

The adverts for it actually have Ewan McGregor as the frontman for it, they use the adventurer like qualities he has drawn from the different events he has done around the world such as the motorbike traverses called long way round and long way down. This was one of the first things that lead me to trying it, having seen the adverts it gives you that feeling like it could provide that rugged indiana jones feel just by putting it on. If you too feel like this is something you want to experience then I think it might help, even if it is just in your mind. ...Dewy?s Adventure is a game for the Nintendo Wii. The game is aimed at children, but is quite challenging, so would be suitable for adults as well who like arcade, puzzle type games. You play the game by tilting the controller, as you play the character of Dewy, a droplet of water. This is quite hard to get used to at first, and can be a little clunky at times, but is a relatively innovative and interesting way of playing a game, and certainly attracts the interest of children. By use of the controls, you can make Dewy into gas by heating him or ice by cooling him, so that he can attack or defend himself in different ways. The biggest problem with the game is though the tilt function, and how you play the game. As mentioned, this is clunky to begin with, but you do get better with practice.
