AEG Electrolux Fridge

...I moved into my new house about a year and a half ago and as it came unfurnished needed to buy a fridge pretty quickly. Being half American I had always loved the big American Fridges that hold enough food for a family for about a year with a water filter on the front and an ice machine so I had this in mind when I went to Currys. However as I found out these fridges are also quite wide and the space I had to put my fridge in was quite small which is when I came across the AEG Electrolux fridge/freezer. IT was £650 at Currys which I didn't think was too bad. The first thing that attracted me to this fridge was the look and design. What an improvement on my old dishwasher!

Advantages: shows when low on salt, rinse aid & even reminds you to clean filter

...My old dishwasher was an Indesit and goodness knows how many years old, so it was really time for a change! We spent ages looking at new machines and to be quite honest to look at they're nearly all much the same, ie they all have racks for the dishes, a cutlery basket of some sort and dispensers for salt, detergent and rinse aid. Then you have to look a bit closer and decide how many place settings they take, how energy efficient they are and how much water they use on an average wash. This is when you can start to make a choice and discount some. We needed one which took at least 12 place settings - you can get some which take more, but the only one we could find at the time was so expensive! An expensive mistake.

Advantages: Better than handwashing everything.
Disadvantages: Doesn't work properly. Doesn't clean very well. Clogs up readily. Falls apart easily.

...This was not cheap, but has been a disappointment from the moment we got it to replace the old thing we had that did stalwart work for many years. AEG used to have a good name, but Electrolux has taken it over. It complains the spray arm is blocked many times during the cycle when there is nothing wrong. The top tray is not secure and has dropped. It doesn't get the dishes clean, often leaving greasy marks, and does not dry properly. If the stuff we put in is not entirely clean it has doesn't work. We hate it. It hasn't actually stopped working entirely yet, but is so annoying and useless that we are going to buy a new one, Bosch or Meile, tomorrow. We have a colourful range of invective for this heap of f****** S*** that we have wasted our money on....

...I have been using dishwashers since 1976 and the Aeg F80860 has to be the best one so far. The installation instructions included in the manual are comprehensive and are easy to follow. The machine was ready to use, as soon as the salt had been added and run through empty. The only sound that can be heard is the water running through the pipes when the machine draws water or lets it go down the drain. It has a short cycle of 30 minutes for those rinsed, less soiled dishes. There is also the option to have an economic wash which can be programmed to run at night. Somewhere in between is a programme to suit every load of dishes. Easy enough to set the programme or leave it on one setting for the same type of wash each time. I simply had to get a new dishwasher after my new indisit one went hay wire after only 5 months knowing my consumer rights I decided to opt for a refund and get a different model.
