AEG means Always Excellent Goods
Review of AEG Oko-Lavamat 518 by
TheChocolateLady
Advantages: Reliable, Easy to use, Excellent results
Disadvantages: Slightly noisy during the spin cycle
...may have the chance to purchase this model second hand (but, um, not from me. I'm not letting this baby go so quickly. Nope.)
We purchased this washing machine about eight years ago when our old machine - a top loading one by a French company called Crystal - became too small for our family. Our Crystal had a maximum capacity of only 4kg and with a growing family of five, we really needed that extra kilo capacity. Since we knew that eventually we'd also want a dryer, we decided to look for a front loading machine (in case we wanted to stack them to save space).
Our local electric shops had several models available, but the AEG Ok -Lavamat 518 was, apparently, becoming obsolete, and was therefore on sale. We were already pleased owners of an AEG dishwasher, and so we knew we weren't adverse to buying something else by the same...

AEG Lavamat Update machine
Review of AEG Oko-Lavamat 86720 by
mbmb11
Advantages: excellent washing performance, energy efficient
Disadvantages: none
...Oh the delight!! I recently bought an AEG Lavamat Update after 12 long trusted years with a Zanussi.
How glad i am! The AEG is a superior machine, with functions abounding, yet it is so easy to use, my boyfriend can finally wash clothes with ease!!
With this machine you can just wash, rinse or spin separately at varying temperatures and spin speeds, you can delay washes, rinses and spins too as well as the usual start to finish programmes.
There is no need to tell the machine how heavy or light the wash load is, as it weighs the clothes in the drum and alters the water usage accordingly. The machine also displays the amount of wash time left to go on the front of the machine.
Lavamat Update machines are categorised as being extremely energy efficient. They have full child safety features, water drainage in case of a breakdown...

AEG L16830 Washer Drier..but not necessarily dry
Review of AEG L16830 by
roddersontheradio
Advantages: good value, plenty of features, great space saver
Disadvantages: the drier is not a patch on a stand alone machine
...The first thing to say is that if you don't need to combine the washer and drier for very practical reasons - ie space, then don't. Don't get me wrong, the AEG is a very well put together machine that does what it's supposed to do - wash and then dry your laundry. The problem is that it doesn't perform these combined tasks as well as single function machines.
A house move left us with little option but to get rid of our Bosch washer and Hotpoint drier and we opted for the AEG L16830 on the back of consumer recommendations. It looks good, it's easy to install, it's incredibly quiet on wash cycle, the controls are relatively user friendly and it washes pretty well. But........the drying cycle is very disappointing. You have to significantly reduce the load to get an adequate drying cycle and even this takes forever. Because...

No More Washing Up!!
Review of AEG-Electrolux 64070 VIL Favorit by
neenn
Advantages: Very quiet, fully integrated
Disadvantages: Still have to scrub frying pans before putting them in.
...it in to the appropriate area.
Rinse aid is supposed to ensure thorough rinsing and spot and streak free drying. According to the finish and drying results obtained you are able to adjust the dose of rinse aid by using the 6 position selector. I have found that between 3 and 4 is a good setting to have.
-Guarantee & Contacting AEG-
Like most products, this comes with a 12 month guarantee from the date of purchase.
In the event of it needing a service or for spare parts etc then AEG can be contacted on 08705 929 929.
For general enquiries visit www.aeg.co.uk
- My verdict -
The major plus point is quite obviously that I don't have to wash up after each meal, the 'dirties' can be stacked in the machine until the end of the day.
I always like the look of glassware once it has been in a dishwasher, always so much cleaner looking than when I used...

Tthe AEG L74810 is quietly impressive
Review of AEG L74810 by
thebigc1690
Advantages: performs brilliantly and quietly.
Disadvantages: more expensive than some.
...Here I am about to write a review on a washing machine! I can’t quite believe it. A few months ago the most I could tell you about a washing machine was that if you put dirty clothes in and worked it properly clean clothes would come out, however being that I don’t like to spend a lot of money without checking into things I can tell you I now know a lot more.
My tuition on washing machines started in February when my old washing machine started having real problems. Not prepared to part with a large sum of money for a new one without knowing what I should be looking for I started to read a bit about them and when I start reading I can’t stop. The washing machine I eventually chose is the AEG L64810 and I will now endeavour to tell you why.
The AEG L64810 has many functions that you will find on most modern machines but also a few...

AEG L16830 Great Machine
Review of AEG L16830 by
martinsmoneytips
Advantages: Quiet, well built, lots of USEFUL features
Disadvantages: none
...What a great machine. We subscribed to Which? over the internet and it cost £2.99 for the first month. It recommend a Miele at £1000 and this AEG L16830 as second choice for £483. For a £500 saving we went for the AEG as it had a larger load capability and there did not seem to be much difference in the Which? score. Like all of the machines reviewed they said the rinse was poor (The Miele was satisfactory) but there is a facility where you can set the machine to give an extra rinse permanently - so that is what we did.
It is sooooooooooo quiet coampared to our 13 year old Zanussi. You barely know it is on and when it spins (upto 1600 rpm which is really fast) the noise is still good. The countdown clock lets you know how long to go - useful if you want to go out and hang it all out before.
You can also set it to start working in 10...

washing in style
Review of AEG Oko Lavamat 72600 by
Theasara-One
Advantages: a superior result whatever detergant is used.
Disadvantages: not easy to clean detergant dispenser or filter (located at bottom left corner of machine)
...I have had my AEG oko Lavamat 72600 update model for just over 2 years now and whilst the cost at time of purchase was a little high, it has now fallen to a more reasonable price due to popularity. I wanted a machine that would be versatile enough to not ruin delicate items and that can deal with an almost continuous and sometimes heavily soiled amount of washing. I have been impressed with the machines ability to adapt to my needs and have only had misfortune to ruin one item...a jumper which cannot tolerate cold water. A good point to note is that this machine operates on a cold water input basis. Therefore any item that cannot tolerate cold water or temperature fluctuations will not survive for long in the 72600 model. I have only called an engineer out once and this was due to an inexpensive part being worn which I was assured...

The Master of Disguise
Review of AEG Favorit 5041 by
surgilatoruk
Advantages: Quiet, washes & dries well, Quick programme
Disadvantages: A Zanussi in disguise
...all had horribly cheap, tacky styling, whereas the AEG has a nice flat front, with a slightly tilted control panel. Another nice feature is that the cabinet has a bevelled edge on the left and right sides, making the dishwasher look clean and smooth, not just a box standing between the kitchen units.
The AEG also had a good energy efficiency rating, compared to other dishwashers sold for that price. The best performance for a dishwasher under £250 at the time (September 2001) was C energy efficiency, B wash performance and C drying performance, whilst the AEG model has B energy efficiency, B wash performance and C drying performance. However, I’m sure there is hardly any difference, but it makes the energy label look nicer. Bear in mind that A rated dishwashers at that time set you back £400 or more!
Anyway, after explaining...

GREAT PERFORMANCE
Review of AEG L14710VIT by
saraharcher
Advantages: Brilliant wash results,
Disadvantages: Smaller wash dryer load
...doors matched from an alternative source, this can be a costly exercise.
Apart from this the appliance has the same dimensions as any other standard free standing washing machine.
The front of the machine has a clear LED display that displays the time left before the wash cycle is complete. however as this is an integrated product the display is hidden behind the door.
Most noticeable is the very large load door. The opening at the front of the machine is considerably larger than normal. The advantages of this become very apparent when washing items such as duvets etc. I can now get double duvets into my washing machine with ease, unlike the wrestling match I used to have with the door of my old Ariston.
WASH PERFORMANCE:
-----------------------------------
My AEG's washing performance is nothing less than outstanding. I used...
