Aer Lingus : simply the best
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
PatJordan
Advantages: user friendly web site, low fares, excellent service
Disadvantages: very few
...Using the Aer Lingus web site is simplicity itself. If your travel dates are flexible, it will offer a range of low fare options, many of which do not require a minimum stay.
With your e-ticket, you can use the self service check-in machine, thus avoiding queues, and even select your preferred seat.
Because of pre-assigned seating, there is no trouble boarding.
I often fly to Heathrow for a day in London : the return fare is often 65Euro or thereabouts, representing tremendous value.
In line with most carriers, Aer Lingus no longer offer free food & drink in economy. A cooked breakfast, complete with (decent) coffee & newspaper is 8euro, which isn't bad value. The entire menu is published on their website, so there are no nasty surprises.
Cabin crew are always very welcoming and helpful.
On the Dublin London...

Linging You Through The Aer
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
zoe_page
Advantages: Cheap, convenient, safe and clean
Disadvantages: Nothing special as airlines go
...When I originally wrote this I had left an Aer Lingus flight so recently that my ears still hadn’t popped. Normally I’m ok, I chew and I chew as the plane comes in to land, and I disembark as happy as a bunny (although naturally not as much of a happy bunny as Happybunny herself) but this time something went wrong. I flew from JFK to Dublin and all was well but on my short (35 minutes….) flight over to Manchester I, well, dozed off, and only awoke as we went bumpety bump onto one of Ringway’s runways. At this point I realised my plan had gone to pot and my ears were playing up. 7 hours and 3 lectures on, they still were, but that night's sleep luckily cured them. Anyway, enough about my ears, on to the airline itself.
Checking In

I arrived at Manchester a little early and was told I could...

Aer Lingus - getting there...
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
Ardri
Advantages: Good administration, competent staff, good ground handling and a good fleet.
Disadvantages: Not the cheapest option.
...I have used Aer Lingus between Birmingham and Dublin for leisure travel since 1998. I have always found the administration to be efficient, the staff (both ground and aircrew) to be polite and helpful and the general level of service to be good.
The presentation of the aircraft on the Birmingham - Dublin route is generally good, given the intensive use: all equipment is functional, the cabins quite clean, the basic in flight service cheerful and the in flight magazine is always waiting.
Late last year I travelled on to Chicago from Birmingham, by way of Dublin. I found the transatlantic service to be excellent in every respect. The aircraft were immaculate, in flight service efficient and friendly throughout, good audio entertainment and films, good food and drink - the vegetarian options for dinner were very acceptable. Flight...

Aer Lingus, 100,000 Welcomes
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
flyingedi
Advantages: Friendliness, connection times and efficiency
Disadvantages: Cost and lack of competition on EDI/GLA - DUB routes
...Aer Lingus should either remove the in-flight catering completely on Commuter flights (and reprice accordingly), or bring in some experts who know what to serve on short flights without insulting both their good name and the passengers at the same time....

Aer Lingers are constantly late
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
ildamiano
Advantages: Decent check-in staff (sometimes)
Disadvantages: Usually late, snotty service more often than not
...Even though I'm Irish, I have to say that I'm not particularly proud of our state airline. Having flown with them about 20 times in the last year, I can say with a degree of authority that they are one of the tardiest airlines out there. Of the 20 flights, at least 17 were over 20 minutes late, of which 6 of those were over an hour late. Maybe I'm just unlucky, but I haven't had the same problem with other airlines that I've flown (British Airways, Luxair, KLM, Crossair, Ryanair, British Midland, Delta, Royal Brunei).
The whole Aer Lingus experience is nothing exceptional either - steward/esses tend to have delusions of superiority more often than not, while the food is unplentiful. Most Dublin-London flights seem to offer no more than a packet of peanuts by way of nourishment.
All-in-all, disappointing, and I tend to avoid them...

Aer Arann - Flying the way it should be.
Review of Aerarran by
bananamanuk
Advantages: Fast, Efficient, Friendly, luggage allowance, regional
Disadvantages: Worn interior, more susceptable to weather delays.
...Aer Arann
Overview
Aer Arann is a growing Irish regional airline with a fleet of turboprop (propeller) driven aircraft which consist of ATR 42 and ATR 72 planes. The airline flies to many smaller airports across Europe which makes it an ideal choice if you want to avoid travelling to congested airports. As a lower cost airline, you can pick up good deals at their website but you should expect to pay extra for food and drink on board, which is consistent with most other low cost airlines.
Airline History
Aer Arann is a privately owned company so it is not listed on the stock exchanges at the moment. It was originally set up as an airline flying small propeller aircraft to the Arann Islands off the west coast of Ireland, but entered the scheduled airline market in the mid 1990's. In many respects, Aer Arann set itself up...

few tips about this great airline
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
with_it
Advantages: immigration checks in ireland; good staff and food
Disadvantages: have to listen to the crew speak irish language before english
...Aer Lingus is one of my favourite airlines. They have always got me to where I'm going on time. The staff are very polite, friendly and helpful. The planes are spotless and recently check-in online saves lots of valuable time.
Here's a big hint! I use Aer Lingus to fly to the states. I fly from the UK to Dublin and then onto the states (via Shannon stopover) for one reason: the American immigration checks are done in Ireland. You are processed before you fly, which means when you arrive in the States you're just waved through. The last time I flew to Boston I was shocked by the size of the queue waiting for the immigration check. All the people from my flight just picked up their luggage and walked through a different door.
I fly economy to the states, whether with work or for pleasure, and I find Aer Lingus leg room...

Irish regional Hospitality at its best
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
Dalesman
Advantages: Modern aircraft, Friendly Staff, Irish hospitality
Disadvantages: not enough intercontinental routes ( sadly !!)
...These guys have to be one of the best and friendliest airlines in Europe, it is such a shame they don't fly to Florida otherwise we'd be enjoying good old Irish hospitality a lot more every year..
Aer Lingus have some excellent deals available for their flights from most of the UK regional airports, including my two 'local' airports Leeds Bradford and Manchester ( I am fortunate enough to live between the two airports however, being slightly nearer to Leeds)..check out their two for one deals....ie two can fly for the same price as one, they are not always available but give extra value when they are on sale, if you live within easy travelling distance from several UK airports it is often worth checking if they have any special deals from any of those airports, as it can save you a small fortune

Aer we go no more
Review of Aerarran by
iainkay1
Advantages: Good basic flights
Disadvantages: little shabby looking
...I flew with Aer Arran on the Belfast to Dublin service, this was to avoid traffic jams and 3 hours on the train journey and as the fare was on a special of just £50 return including taxes it was an offer not to refuse. This was for a same day return as I left on the 8.15am flight and returned at 15.55pm allowing me a full day of business meetings. Unfortunately they have stopped the service and this is the update as they really messed me about I would no longer recommend them as a a good airline for customer service.
On the second time of booking I was informed two days prior to travelling that the flight was cancelled due to operational reasons, so ok I rescheduled my appointments and rebooked for the next Monday they said that was fine. Saturday morning they rang to tell me the flight was cancelled yet again I was a bit peeved so...

Jump aboard for no frills trips to Ireland
Review of Aer Lingus - EIN by
buzzplane
Advantages: Good service
Disadvantages: Very Basic
...Aer Lingus are one of the 2 big players on the Ireland-England Route.
The other being Ryan Air.
Aer Lingus has been established for a bit longer than Ryan Air and it gives a better level of Service. They both operate from the same airport as my airline and the general concensus from passengers I meet is that Lingus give a better level of customer service.
They are in direct competition with each other but there is plenty of trade for both of them on this route to Dublin.
Buzz dont fly to Ireland because the the competition from their domestic airlines is too fierce apparently. We fly to Europe mainly instead.
Their Green Aeroplanes signify the Emerald Isle to which they belong. Their fleet is starting to age though and the 737's that they use are real workhorses on this route, flying many times a day, seven days a week...
