Caribbean Village Agador- Agadir - Morocco
Advantages: Fantastic food and entertainment
Disadvantages: Fight for the sunbeds - we just didn't bother!!
...Caribbean Village Agador
When we booked a two weeks all inclusive holiday in Morocco we didn't know what to expect. It was a part of the world that we had never visited before and we went slightly unsure as to what to expect.
We were staying in Caribbean Village Agador at Agadir, and were a little worried by some of the negative reports we had read on Trip Adisor. But we always like to judge a place for ourselves so went along with an open mind.
The 'we' in question were my me, my husband and our 11 year old son - as anyone knows who takes away a child of this age, if they are happy so are you!!
When we got off our plane at Al Massira airport we were immediatly hit by the heat, certainly a lot different from the weather we had left behind in Manchester! We were quickly through custom control and on our coach to...

Agadir
Advantages: Great markets and food
Disadvantages: Harrassment from locals depending on time of year you go
...I think Morocco is an acquired taste. I went to Agadir with my mum for a 2 week break (leaving from Glasgow) during the month of December. I chose to go then because I knew it would be a bit quieter.
It was my second visit to Morocco, the first having been to the north in the early 80s with my identical twin sister. As my twin and I are both red heads that caused quite a stir among the locals who would constantly ask us if we'd dyed our hair with Henna (and why we were so white!!!).
I had a bad experience on my first day down at the beach in Agadir with my mum when a really rude carpet seller just wouldn't take no for an answer. Luckilly for us a friendly local intervened. He was very decent and actually gave us lots of good advice about how to get to more remote, less touristy places.
The town of Agadir is split into 2 areas...

Agadir - Avoid
Advantages: It was warmer than England
Disadvantages: I prefer to be cold
...I have just returned for a week in Agadir and I am compelled to share by experience, where shall I start? I booked it last minute and new hotels where being built, I can deal with the noise. I dont moan about accomdation because if its clean and has a shower Im happy. (it was clean and had sort of a shower)
Well, in no particular order here are the good points:
The operation of the airport is very efficient
Now to the bad points, in no particular order:
The most dishonest people I have ever come across, let me give you some examples:
1) The number of beach salesmen selling tat, approaching you when you are asleep on the beach with your ipod on. The poke they give you scares the life out of you and leaves you unable to relax. This happened day after day after day. They dont leave until you say no at least five times...

Essaouira far more enjoyable than Agadir.
Advantages: Cheap and Sunny
Disadvantages: Harasment and over charging so very comming.
...My friend and I chose to go to Morocco as it was cheap and we were poor students in need of some sun! I have to admit that we did not really do our research about where we were going, if we had I think that I would have thought twice, although this story does have a happy ending!
We started in Agadir, the hotel was okay, we had a clean and fair sized rooms overlooking the pool. I had been to Tunisia about 3 years before I had expected Morocco to be similar. So we went to find something to eat which was disappointingly in more than one way. There was no real town centre that we could find and we were looking at eating at a "Spanish" style restaurants until some locals gave us the address of the place far out of the touristy area where the food was good and it was full of locals. Really cheap, although I'm sure that we paid more that...

A holiday resort built on a great human tragedy
Advantages: A different type of holiday destintation
Disadvantages: None for me
... AGADIR
MOROCCO
I had a really good fortnight's holiday in Agadir, a city on the Atlantic in the South West of Morocco.
I have heard a lot of bad reviews about Agadir, but I really believe that it all depends on the individual's impression and what they make of their time there.
Let me try and give you a bit of information about it and my review of our two weeks there.
AGADIR ITSELF
The city of Agadir itself is primarily a tourist resort that is popular with European travellers. But do not dismiss it merely as a beach holiday; the atmosphere of the city is completely different from any other holiday resort that I have ever visited.
Agadir is very different from any other city in Morocco. It has been completely rebuilt after a tragedy - the earthquake of 1961 that killed 15,000 people...

Agadir beach
Advantages: see text
Disadvantages: see text
...Having just rambled on elsewhere about the benefits of getting cheap deals, it would be remiss of me not to alert you to the dark, hidden side. There is a human cost involved, and every year thousands of holiday makers put price before enjoyment and have to endure a year of glancing jealously at their co-workers, tanned, happy and full of tales of fun from their hols whereas all they have is regret. This is the world of the inappropriate resort and below I take a quick look at one of them, the notorious town of Agadir in Morocco. Given that we visited some ten years ago, the following criticism may seem inappropriate save for the fact the problem is metereological. (There were other problems - general untidiness, poor food, openly leering behaviour of the male population, noise and pollution, but hey, a decade of round the clock...

Tactics for Agadir!
Advantages: Beautiful weather, Fantastic Wine, Fun
Disadvantages: Overtly pushy shopkeepers
.... We also found a foolproof way of getting the best quality goods and food. Any shop or restaurant that does not have "poachers" on the door step tend to be of a better standard than those that do.
After this we were able to enjoy the experience a lot more. Be aware of shopkeepers charging ridicilous prices for goods (700 dirahms (appr £40) for a Nike belt - obviously refused!) Haggle and walk away if they refuse - you'll soon get the price you want.
The restaurants in Agadir do vary, and surprisingly not by price...
If you do get a chance, please go to "Restaurant Morocco" - Fantastic. This was a great find (and no poachers on the door).
The wine in Morocco is very good - a make we took exeptional taste to was KZAR - they sell the red and rose version in the hotel, and most restaurants also do the white. I like dry wine...

MOROCCO FOR ME
Advantages: friendly hot cheap
Disadvantages: none
...(mint tea)
The currency is the dirham and the Moroccans speak Arabic and French with a good lot of people able to speak English..
The second time I went to Agadir we could not get to stay at the same hotel as it was being renovated and the only deal we could get at a good price was self catering at the issadour apartments.
This was last May and it cost us £270 each.nother deal we found on teletext we had never fancied self catering but because we really wanted to go to Morocco we decided to give it a try ,we where not impressed by where we stayed we had to walk three long flights up to our apartment very tiring for my mother in law who came with us this time.
The apartment itself was very basic but was clean and tidy and we could get rolls and croissants just next door for next to nothing and ate in local places most of the time so it...

Agadir - July 2005 / Tagadirt Hotel
Advantages: Friendly people, great weather, nice cheap food.
Disadvantages: none
...My partner & I have recently arrived back from 1 week in Agadir. Admittedly we didn't take up any of the trips to Marakesh or anywhere else as being on a one week stay we were after rest and relaxation and spending days marching around towns was not on our agenda. However, we would love to return and would consider the trips as they all seem pretty well planned (the only hint we picked up about the trips, the 1 day trip to Marakesh is a very long day - leaving resort around 6amish and returning 1amish)
For the week, we ate fantastically and particularly recommend Fouqets and Taco Loco in Agadir. Great menus, fantastic price and brilliant service. The Jazz Restaurant was also a favorite of ours for lunch. The majority of the beach side café's sport identical menu's, mainly consisting of various fish dishes, Moroccan dishes, salads...

Agadir AgaDO
Advantages: beautiful,different,friendly,easy to get around.cheap.
Disadvantages: the water, always buy bottled and use it even for cleaning your teeth
...For the traveller that likes to experience sun, snady beaches and a different culture like myself then Agadir should be on your must visit list.
I visited in October half-term week {yes more expensive because the flight operator added a £100 supplement to the flight cost, disgraceful, but as i work in a school my holidays have to be outside term time}.
I was to stay in the all inclusive hotel Agador, part of the Caribbean Village which also shares it's grounds with two other hotels.
The complex boasted three swimming pools, several choices of restuarants and what they called the animation team.
The grounds were beautiful and very clean.
The weather was fantastic.
And the people very different.
One day the market came to the hotel and stalls were set up all around the main pool.
A fine array of wares from carvings,to marblized...
