...Age of Empires 3 is, ironically enough, the third instalment of the highly successful 'Age of Empires' title. Although fans of age of empires 2 had to wait 6 years for the new release, I believe it was worth it. Age of Empires III is a real time strategy game where you play as 1 of 8 major European Civilization as they fight for land and riches on the New World. The games controls haven't really changed that much from the second one, but even if you are a novice they are easy to pick up with the 'learn to play' mode and a lot of the buildings keep their original functions, however a brand new selection of units have been created due to the usage of gunpowder. Advantages: Amazing graphics, and great new game play.
Disadvantages: Dissapointing oceanic battles

Age of Empires or Age of Rubbish

Advantages: Long game, varied strategies. Better than sequel.
Disadvantages: Unit limitations.

...Well many years ago now, Age of Empires was released and became a big hit with everyone. It was a good old real time strategy game, with lots of features and pretty decent gameplay. However, I must admit that despite loving strategy games in general, I never really got that excited about this particular game. I know I'm probably the only one but I'll give you some of my thoughts later. The game itself comes on one CD ROM and doesn't require too much hard drive space (a hundred or so minimum) in addition it should run on most systems with over 32MB RAM and anything over a 166MHz processer should do the trick. Graphically this game is rather good. Despite being before everyone had 3D cards, so obviously it doesn't require one, it uses a method of pseudo 3D graphics giving a nice angle to view the proceedings. Sound quality is also...

Advantages: Graphics, Real world physics (Destroyable terrain and shown damage), Gameplay, Online multiplayer

...better. Many of them are remixes of AoE1 and AoK's music, but some are completely original. The music now actually changes in-game depending on what are you doing. Like, for example, when you attack an enemy Town Center, the music will change into something more fitting with the current scene. ...After playing the original age of empires 3 this one came as a bit of a surprise to how good the game play is. The game combines 11 civilisations and this provides lots of diffrent games with lots of diffrent startegies. This could come from eith russian strelets to iroquis tomahawks, this provides game diversity and keeps you hooked. Also the troop status is easy to see and clearly shows what bonuses troops have versus some troops as like longbows give a 1.3x bonus vs infantry and skirmishers give a 2x bonus versus infantry. This makes it easy to develop a good strategy. The game also includes a smarter AI as if you mass out infantry they will mass out anti-infantry.
