Become Gods
Review of Age Of Mythology (PC) by Kimea

Advantages: Read my op :o)
Disadvantages: Read my op :o)

...If you appreciate so much that is to say little mythology and all that it conveys of legends and monsters in any kinds, not of doubt, Age of Mythology is done for you! With this play, Microsoft delivers to us the quintessence of his know-how as regards play of strategy. Judge rather: three cultures available (Greek, Egyptian and Scandinavian), 36 missions solo, four ages to be crossed, forty gods to be called upon and as many capacities obviously divine... the list is long! Intelligent, complete, vast and full with surprises, this play can also add to its prize list a price of beauty! Indeed, thanks to a mode zoom and a camera repositionnable in real time, you will be able to benefit from the various scenes without losing a crumb of it. Let us not forget a multijouor mode dazzling of options various and varied for a total of thirteen... Read review

Age Of Mythology
Review of Age Of Mythology (PC) by NJFortune

Advantages: Great graphics, Very Addictive, Lots of scenarios!
Disadvantages: Sadly much the same as Age of Empires I and II, unless you have 1.5GB hard disk free its not for you! :-(

...Since buying Age Of Mythology from PC World for an amazing £19.99 I was pleasently surprised at how similar the controls and graphics are with its previous program, age of empires. Age of Mythology has gone into more detail in nearly all the areas of the game, such as you can now pick a god and you are also awarded some magic spells from the god once you have researched the next level. When I say level I mean this allows you to manufacture things cheaper, faster and also stronger. The Scenarios are all different and you are able to choose a level of difficulty if you are really struggling with the game I suggest the "Easy" option :-). As with Age of Empires you are able to create many random maps to play on against 3 enemy's at any one time. This version also allows you to edit a map to your own design and play on it also. The game... Read review

X- tremely Good
Review of BBC2 - X Files by Incognito

Advantages: Dark, engaging, witty, cool, original, Gillian Anderson
Disadvantages: Can get a little confusing

...The X- Files as we all know is a classic sci-fi program. It is funny, modern, scary and compulsive viewing for all nerds, and fans of Agents Scully and Mulder. Take your pick; I know what my choice would be. Whether you like Mulder’s amusing quips, Scully’s beauty (!!) or just the monsters, conspiracy and paranormal phenomena, this is a show for all ages. It can be extremely scary when needs be, nail- bitingly suspenseful, unbelievably cool and hilariously funny. The mythology arc is not one for the simple- minded, and no- one really knows who the bad guys and the good guys are. Don’t ask me, just watch the show and make your own mind up. The other problem is that as time and series go on the mythology get more and more complex, and some of the plots get a bit, well, offlandish, for a sci-fi program. Nonetheless, this show IS cool... Age Of Greatness
Review of Microsoft Age of Mythology The Titans Expansion Complete package by gillenium1

Advantages: Graphics, and gameplay
Disadvantages: The graphics are too good so it slows your computer down,

...I have to say, a few years ago I bought Age of Mythology, and it was one of the best real-time strategy games I have ever played. The Titans is an expansion pack to this game, and I though that it would just be the same with a few tweaks here and there, but I was wrong. It has an assortment of great new features including:- -excellent graphics -absorbing campaign -3 varying factions All in all it has re-defined the genre. The Titans somehow manages to improve on the original, it even includes a new civilization and with it an extra campaign. Gameplay: 10/10 Age of Mythology The Titans used a mix of standard real time strategy elements as well as new ones, the best element, in my opinion, is the God system. The main feature of The Titans is the new campaign, although it is a bit short, it stills provides an excellent tutorial... Read review

The Truth Behind Tolkiens Worlds
Review of The Real Middle-Earth: Magic and Mystery in the Dark Ages - Brian Bates by steerpyke

Advantages: great background to Tolkiens mind
Disadvantages: none

...aspects of religion and mythology, and has studied and written on such subjects as, Shamanism, Magic, Paganism, Pyscology and tribal culture and is an expert on Father Christmas. He has alsoventured into the field of novel writtiing with his seminal book, The Way of The Wyrd, a brilliant book which brings a psychological perspective to the people and times of Dark Age England. What better author to examine the real world mythology of Tolkiens creations. The Middle Earth of the Anglo-Saxon mind was not exclusivley a physical place, the world was held together by golden threads that only wizards could manipulate and these threads radiated from Middle Earth, but enabled access to the magical realms that joined this world. "to these people of the real middle earth, the landscape took on a whole new meaning. Elvish spirits populated the trees... Read review

Age of the great game
Review of Age Of Mythology (PC) by the_vchip

Advantages: Great graphics, sounds, gameplay, ....
Disadvantages: Can crash during multiplayer

...Right, Age of Mythology is the third instalment in the very successful Age of Empires series. The game like the previous incarnations is a strategy game. This means you have to build a base and an army and destroy the opponent’s base and army. The game has three races that you can play, unlike Age of Empires 1 and 2 which both had lots of different races to choose from. These are Greek, Egyptian and Norse. For the single player option the main story revolves around Atlantis. The main character you follow through the story and the 32 missions is Arkantos, one of the Greek heroes (which I’ll explain later). During the game Arkantos gets help from the Egyptians and the Norse as you enjoy a well laid out adventure. As for the plot itself I will not spoil that for you. Now each race has gods and you must choose a god for each age... Read review

Stormin............Gods
Review of RISK Godstorm by AllySB

Advantages: Good entainment
Disadvantages: Price

...the rest and enjoyed it a great deal. The tactics were great fun and the Gods were good too. Sunk Mum on Atlantis and that was ever so funny! Rebecca (aged 9 going on 19) played it to many times on our holiday. I got bored and found it to difficult to play with all the rules about Gods and tokens and cards. Though – the underworld was good, it was more straightforward there. Hubby: I enjoy all the Risk games and this was no exception, played it a great deal on holiday with wifey (well she’s calling me hubby) and the kids. Adam was great and we even managed some two player games, which get very competitive. Apart from Rebecca we would probably have played it all week. An A1 game. Me: I really enjoy Ancient mythology so the subject matter interested me straight away. The Gods add a new dimension to the game though it was to complicated... Read review

Age Of Mythology, Great Game for Everyone!!
Review of Age Of Mythology (PC) by aerob

Advantages: Low min specs, very addictive, great graphics, easy to play
Disadvantages: mulitplayer losing popularity

...As Christmas is fast approaching, it brings back memories of last christmas when i was given a copy of AOM. At first glance many people may think ' oh its a kids game, what with all the mythical units and bright colours'. From some peoples point of view, yes it may be a kids game, but i know plenty of adults who play it. The game is great for all ages, it is very addictive, easy to play and has great graphics. If you are a fan of age of empires, then you will enjoy this, the new myth units add an enjoyable twist to the game. It keeps the same ideas of the original age of empries, starting with a few villagers and building your way up to a massive city. This makes the game very easy to get to grips with, especially if you have played age of empires in the past. The basic features of the game are: 9 playable civilisations Single player... Cheat's Guide to Classics
Review of Bulfinch's Greek and Roman Mythology: The Age of Fable - Thomas Bulfinch by a-true-ben

Advantages: Condensed account of mythology, allows you to understand classical references, interesting subject
Disadvantages: Always some omissions, English verses, preaching, Roman names

...-saving form. Of course, there are a few minor omissions, and one or two bits that aren’t clear or that I felt could be organised better. Basically though I found this a good read, very interesting and a highly recommended bluffer’s guide to classics. THE LONG VERSION: Thomas Bulfinch’s The Age of Fable was the first part of his mythology (which went on to include the age of medieval chivalry, but that isn’t included here) first published in 1855. Essentially it’s a digest for those without time to read up on their classics. Not exactly a ‘cheat sheet’ – The Age of Fable coming in at almost 300 pages itself – it nevertheless presents simplified summaries of the great classical myths and stories. Know anything from Homer, to Sophocles, to mere ancient folklore and it’s probably here. Indeed, despite the title it isn’t exclusively Greek and Roman... Read review

Beautiful beginner's deck
Review of The Mythic Tarot - Juliet Sharman-Burke, Liz Green by researchguru

Advantages: Gorgeous, entry level Tarot deck
Disadvantages: Oversimplified views on Tarot tradition and theory

...I may get a little emotional: The Mythic Tarot was my first esoteric love. How The Mythic Tarot came into my life As a child I was entranced by Greek and Roman mythology and would happily rattle off obscure legends to anyone who showed the slightest interest. When I first chanced across this deck at about age 15, it was an easy and logical progression from my previous pastimes. I was fascinated by the notion that a deeper meaning was embedded in the stories I loved so much. The book The book supporting The Mythic Tarot has been republished as a paperback however I strongly recommend the hardback if you can locate a copy (the content is identical). The hardback has a groovy black and gold cover and is about half the size of the paperback version. A smaller and more durable volume really comes in handy when friends start to ask... Read review
