La scala is Amazing
Advantages: Great family eating place with good prices
Disadvantages: You cant fit all of the great food in!!
...first class, the waiters are always ready to attend to your needs and are always on hand. You get free complimentary bread sticks from italy. All of their food and products are shipped from Italy to give that great taste and even the Owner (John) comes and talks to you about your meal, he is a very pleasant man.
The place is always clean and tidy with not a bit of dirt on site. My brother works in the kitchen as a kitchen porter and he says that cleanliness in the back is never an issue. (he is told to clean the kitchen after his shift).
This place is great to take your children it is 100% family freindly. I would highly recommend going there.
La scala is located on Allerton Road Liverpool and is opposite the Allerton Library. So if you get a taxi down there then just tell him to go to The allerton library and he will know what you...

Reduce your high blood pressure without drugs
Advantages: Easy to follow guidance with good explanations
Disadvantages: You do have to put the effort in when you have read it
...Around a quarter of all adults will develop high blood pressure in their lifetime. In the UK doctors are taking this problem seriously and more and more people are being diagnosed because of better monitoring (and because the government in incentivising doctors to look for it.) Sadly I am one of the people with blood pressure on the high side but I am trying to find a way to control it without going on to medication for the rest of my life. I have tried a few 'snake oil' remedies which didn't work, and I am still keen to find something which will help which is why I ordered this book from Amazon recently as if there is a 'Natural Way' to control blood pressure I want to know what it is.
In his introduction James Scala says that about 85% of all high blood pressure can be controlled by diet, food and lifestyle. He is also points...

A Greek Taverna Where Time Stands Still.
Advantages: Delicous food- blending Greek and English influences toether with skill and love.
Disadvantages: None at all.
...of tourism which hugs the coast along the beach which stretches for miles. Turtles lay their eggs in the beaches along this coastline, and it is possible to walk all the way to the town of Scala along the shore if you are energetic.
If you visit Katelios there are lots of little tavernas clustered together along the beach front, but walk to the left in the direction of Scala onto the glorious St Barbaras beach, and you will see a little blue taverna called "Dreams" nestling alone up a short dusty track.
It is painted blue and white and the name appealed to me because it reminded me of the film Shirley Valentine where "dreams come true". Hubby saw the funny side of this and so we decided to venture there for his birthday lunch. It was the kind of place we used to go to when we were really young -simple tavernas in remote places serving...

Kefalonia Heaven!
Advantages: Great climate, peaceful, stunning scenery.
Disadvantages: Choice of hotels limited.
...Last June my wife and I visited this beautiful island in the Ionian group. We spent a week in Scala in the south of the island.
When visiting Kefalonia, a must is to hire a car. You can see virtually the whole island in 2 or 3 days. You will see a beautiful coastline dotted with some of the prettiest bays and beaches in the greek islands. Although mainly pebbles there are several sandy beaches to enjoy. Have a chat to your car rental agent on the island as they are very helpful and will advise you on the best places to visit.
We drove anti-clockwise round the island from our base in Scala visiting many tranquil villages along the way and taking in the spectacular scenery of fir-lined mountains and hills. On the west coast is the town of Sami where Captain Corelli's Mandolin was filmed. From there we drove northwards and across...

Culture, Business and Fashion
Advantages: Great places to visit
Disadvantages: very expensive
...I have been to Milano several times on 3 day breaks. I find it the most stimulating and exciting city which always buzzing with life. The best month for me was March as it was the week of the great fashion shows. Everywhere you went were amazing looking models standing around with the background of the beautiful Duomo or the Galleria Vittorio Emmanuelle 2.It is established as the fashion capital of the world.
My main reson for visiting Milano was to go to various opera productions at the great opera house"La Scala" We had pre-booked on each occasion and had some of the best seats in the house, but at a big cost to us (£120 on one occasion with top international opera singers.)One Saturday we managed to buy extra tickets at £25 each from some touts. This was the best performance I have ever seen as it was being televised for National...

Venice the city of Sighs!
Advantages: Absolutely breath taking views around every corner.
Disadvantages: Very expensive packed during the day with day trippers.
...on and off at various stops along its route. However be aware that the cafes that line the canal charge extortionate rates whereas by nipping into the next road back your meals and drinks will be much cheaper. The canal is lined by magnificent palaces and the decorative exteriors are well worth seeing.
One of the most impressive places to see was the 'Scala Contarini del Bovolo' which is a small palace building down a little alley way which has a circular staircase built on the outside of the building. This amazing building was built in 1499 can you believe and it is practically unheard of or missed due to its location. It is not too far from St. Marks square but is within the area of the plaza Mannin down a few side streets and at the end of a tiny alley. Sadly the stair case was closed but apparently one can get absolutely fabulous views...

Rome's Cathedral
Advantages: Beautiful church, important historically.
Disadvantages: You have to pay to get into the cloisters and you can't see the 10 year old italian children struggling up the holy steps on their knees!
...church-building, and because of San Giovanni's predominance, it is spectacular, coming second only to St Peter's on the jaw-droppingly beautiful stakes.
It is home to the heads of Saints Paul and Peter, impressive artifacts, by any church's standards, and the alterpiece in the centre of the church, bedecked with a canopy and mosiacs is certainly a worthy home for such treasures.
From the outside of San Giovanni, you can see the Lateran Papal Palace (pre-Vatican days) which unfortunately is inaccessible to the public and contains the Scala Sancta (Holy Staircase) where apparently people go up these stairs on their knees. My helpful italian guide did tell me that the nuns at his convent school brought the whole class here when he was 10 and they were all made to ascend these stairs on their knees, which provided me with a wonderful...
