...Air Asia are a no frills airline based in South East Asia with connections locally around that region as well as up to China. There are also now flights between Kuala Lumpur and London plus 3 destinations in Australia (The Gold Coast, Melbourne and Perth). I have only flown with Air Asia around the South East Asia region and so cannot comment on their long haul services. The range of destinations within Asia is very broad with hundreds of connections, including many to different islands of Indonesia and into Burma (Myanmar). Kuala Lumpur is the hub with Bangkok a secondary so these have the broadest connections. In terms of prices Air Aisia certainly live up to their name of being a cheap airline-one way prices for most short routes are around £20 taxes included and you can check on luggage up to 15kg without paying extra. AIR ASIA: the budget airline for Asia... a huge time saver!

Advantages: Saves time as buses take forever in Asia!
Disadvantages: Food is really expensive and not that great

...Air Asia are an internet based airline serving destinations all over South East Asia. They often have offers on their flights and their tickets are generally very fairly priced. I used them to fly from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) to Bangkok. I booked my ticket on their website. It is very easy to navigate and when booking you are given the option to add a meal on for the trip, or have heavier luggage, which is what I did as after 6 weeks travelling I knew I would have over 15 kilos of luggage with me! I didn't have any problems checking in. Staff were friendly and efficient. On the plane, I would have liked a bit more room. I was sat next to one of those arm-rest hoggers, so was a bit squidged up against the window, but as the flight was only around 30mins-1hr it wasn't too bad! Air Asia - Like Ryanair but better!

Advantages: Cheap airline with great looking staff!!
Disadvantages: Only flies from 1 uk airport

...I have just come back from Malaysia for the second year and i'm so impressed with the professionalism of Air Asia staff. The airline is amazingly cheap, i managed to get 3 return tickets from Kuala Lumper to Sarawak (2 hour flight) for a little £100.00. This included a couple of add-on's, such as food and express boarding. Side issue, the cabin crew (female) look amazing. If you are into the eastern look, you need to fly just to be on the same flight as these stunner!! Anyway back the the review. The airline has just started flying from London (Stanstead). You still need to pay extra for meals and in flight entertainment, althought this is only a small amount. Travel around Asia - the cheap way!

Advantages: Cheap, lots of Asian destinations
Disadvantages: Limited schedules for some flights, no frills (but who cares at these prices?!)

Budget airline that delivers a good service

Advantages: Very low prices, very friendly staff
Disadvantages: May take longer to travel to and from the smaller airports used

...I have flown with Air Asia twice in the last 2 years, from Vietnam to Thailand and also from The Philippines to Malaysia. Both experiences were good and by booking in advance I managed to take advantage of some very cheap deals on their website. Booking online The airline's website is easy to navigate and find information on flights. The FAQ section is concise and useful and once you book a flight, you receive a confirmation email promptly and can print off your e-ticket. The fares quoted on the website now include all taxes and surcharges which is a welcome change and hopefully one that other budget airlines in the same region will implement too. I purchased 'Economy Promotional' fares both times as these are the cheapest ones and it was even possible for me to change the date of my flight from Vietnam to Thailand...

A Taste Of Asia

Advantages: Great food, great staff and service, very clean, sticky rice to die for

...I've never tried writing and review on a restaurant before but Asia Lounge is one of my favourite places to eat so I thought I'd give it a go and hope I do it some justice. What Is the Asia Lounge Asia Lounge is the newest restaurant in Bury, Manchester. It only opened at the back end of last year. The restaurant serves up authentic Thai and Indian dishes. The chefs themselves are from Thailand and Pakistan. The restaurant has two floors and can seat 200 guests. As well as taking bookings it is also available to hire for functions. Although the Asia Lounge isn't a take away it will do so by special request. Location Asia Lounge is located on Rochdale Road, Bury just on the corner of Heywood Street. ...Air Asia is the far eastern equivalent of Ryanair in Europe and South West Airlines in the US. It is a budget point to point airline. It operates much like a bus in that it doesnt necessarily turn up on time and is sometimes rescheduled. It was set up in 2001 in Malaysia after the owner saw the potential for low cost flights in the UK & the US. From operating on a small route schedule it now has over one hundred different routes covering Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Phillipines, Hong Kong, Burma, Macau....... Gulf Air

Advantages: clean, comfortable, good service
Disadvantages: No direct flights out to Asia

...I have flown repeatedly with Gulf Air out to various places in Asia from India to South East Asia and the far east. These have always required a stop-off in the gulf area of the Middle East, almost always Bahrain which is the airlines hub. The airline has connections from London, Paris and Frankfurt out to Bahrain and from there there are plenty of connections out to Asia and to various places around the Middle East and Islamic countries such as Sudan and Iran. Thus it isn't the best connected airline for those trying to connect from Western Europe as it will almost always require a change over unless Bahrain is the final destination. The main reason I have flown with Gulf Air is that they have consistently been the cheapest option on offer for flights out to Asia-perhaps because of the required change over.
