An excellent air purifier
Review of Bionaire BAP615 by
lynxptc
Advantages: Cleans the air well
Disadvantages: Carbon filter needs changing often, noisy
...The Bionaire BAP 615 is an excellent air purifier.
After having it on for just a few minutes when I bought it, the air was noticeabley cleaner and cooler.
The Bionaire BAP615 works with a 2 stage filtreation system. Air enters the purifier through the grills in the front, where dust and other large particles are immediately caught by the carbon filter.
Air then passes through to the HEPA filter where 99.9% of bacteria, dust and other airborne alergens are filtered.
One thing that I did find is that the Carbon filter (costing about £6) needs changing regularly, about once every month, even though the manual and product description both say it only needs changing on an average of 3 months.
The HEPA filter can last anywhere from 6 months to a year, depending on how much the purifier is used. I have not had the filter for more...

Technex's review of the Bionaire BAP242 Air Pu
Review of Bionaire BAP242 AIR Purifier WITH Ioniser by
Technex
Advantages: Nice fresh air, removes all bad things in air. Strong design.
Disadvantages: Noise. White colour scheme?
...Well I can't remember where I got this air purifier from now I've been using it for a few years now. But this thing is great if air cleaning is what your after in a small space without a huge price this is the one to go for. The filter lasts a long time and removes something like 99.99% of all airborne particles! I've yet to replace mine and I would still say it's got about 5 months left!
HEPA 99.99% Filter + Pre stage Carbon filter which is washable. (make sure to dry well before replacing)
The unit can be placed either on it's side length ways or vertically. It doesn't effect the operation and has rubber feet for both options.
It's a very strong unit it's hard to damage really... Powered by two centrifugal motors/fans it's got the power to clean the largest of rooms.
It has three speed settings each shown by a line...

breathing is believing
Review of Bionaire BAP1300 Air Purifiers by
LindaL
Advantages: good clean air
Disadvantages: none that I can think of
...Air purifiers have grown in popularity over the past few years - many people find them useful in improving symptoms of allergies, asthma in particular. I bought my Bionaire purifier a couple of years ago, for under £80 and have used it daily. I've been asthmatic since childhood, but I'm afraid I bought the purifier to reduce the harmful effects on my home and family caused by my secret shame.
Bionaire are a Canadian company, started up in 1977, who now trade worldwide. Their products are widely available in Argos, Comet and other electrical retailers.
The machine resembles a chunky fan heater, housed in cream coloured plastic. It has rubber feet on two sides so that it can be sat lengthways or upright, dependant on your available space. Around 3 metres of flex allows more choice when positioning in the room.
The model I...

No purifier
Review of Bionaire BAP242 AIR Purifier WITH Ioniser by
Skaap
Advantages: It must be doing something for air quality
Disadvantages: It's just not doing enough
...I've had a few different air purifiers, none of which made me happy. I'm allergic to almost everything from dustmites to air itself it seems sometimes, and spend most of my days sneezing, or at least with a somewhat cloggy nose. Not pleasant. We maintain a strict regimen of keeping our bedroom dust free and freshly aired and I thought purifying the air I breathe at home in addition to all of that would be a sure solution.
My husband actually bought me this particular one from Argos, relatively cheaply (I think it was around £50.00). He thought the combined effects of the Hepa filter and the Ioniser would solve all my problems, as we'd only ever had purifiers with the Hepa filter alone before. I also had high hopes for it, and on the plus side, it's small enough to keep on my bedside table, and quiet enough that it doesn't irritate...

Reasonable Purifier, high price
Review of Bionaire BAP242 AIR Purifier WITH Ioniser by
dav1d89
Advantages: Freshens the air, Quiet
Disadvantages: Expensive for what it is, Ionizer a bit of a gimmik
...I suffer from tonsilitis and the particles in the air seem to affect it quite a bit, so i decided to get an air purifier to see if it helped alleviate the problem.
I looked in Argos and there it was £50! I finally got mine on ebay for around £25.
Basically this air purifier has a HEPA filter and an Ioniser. The air is sucked in through the filter, catching any particles and is blown out the other end over the ioniser, the ioniser supposedly changes the charge of the particles in the air so they attract more particles making it heavier, then it drops back down an is easier to be caught by the filter. supposedly.
The unit is small enough to keep on a desk or bedside unit but it is still pretty bulky, i keep mine tucked in the corner. There are 3 speed settings for the fan, slow ('silent mode', med and fast) the silent mode...

Clean air?
Review of Bionaire BAP242 AIR Purifier WITH Ioniser by
Coloneljohn
Advantages: it does work.
Disadvantages: replacement filters, breakdowns.
...The idea of an air purifier for home use is a good one. You will need to be able to quickly and easily replace any filtration units and have a machine that is not too obtrusive for any domestic use.
Way back in January 2006 I bought 4 of these air purifier units. I am a smoker but I like to keep my smoking to only one room of my house and I wanted to try to keep this from going into all the other rooms. This was not the only reason as both my wife and myself seem to suffer a bit with hay fever. I wanted to get a filter into several rooms of the house.
My wife wanted a unit that had a HEPA filter, I just wanted something that could keep the room air somewhat clean and be easy to use. To this day I am still somewhat unsure what a HEPA filter is and why it is supposed to be good. At the time the houses on each side of us were both...

AH, SMELL THAT FRESH SEA AIR........
Review of Bionaire BAP625 by
canonmiser
Advantages: Extremely efficient, pleasant design, easily moved around
Disadvantages: slightly noisy on maximium setting, costly filter replacement
...Hello again. We both smoke and other smokers visit our house. About 2 years ago we decided that rather than give up smoking we would invest in an air purifier!
We decided to buy the Bionaire BAP 625 model, possibly because that was the only one in the shop. I think we paid about £135.00 for it.
I must say that I can truly recommend this model to anybody thinking about a purchase. The unit is about 18" high if stood upright (you can lay it on its side), about 16" wide and about 8" deep. Our model is coloured a kind of beige colour with grey trim. Sorry, I'm not too good with colours!
Obviously it is mains powered and comes with about 2 metres of cable. It is not too heavy and can be moved around quite easily, either within 1 room or to a different room.
There is a 'door' on the front that when opened reveals the filtration...

A breath of fresh air
Review of Bionaire BAP1500 1UK by
roustabout
Advantages: Cleaner, fresher air
Disadvantages: Quite large
...I have recently spent months renovating and decorating my house. As a smoker the ceilings and walls suffer over the years and not wishing to repeat the redecorating process more than necessary I have invested in the Bionaire BAP1500 PERMAtech.
The unit is quite large at 27" high x 10"x 6" but it is suitable for areas up to 84m2.
It's quite stylishly finished in black with silver trim. The 'Permatech' model is so called because it has permanent filters which can be washed or vacuumed when the filter indicator light on the top of the unit comes on. It is a pain replacing bags and filters (if they are available at all) so I've decided to avoid anything that needs replacements if possible.
The unit looks well made and the 3 speeds operate quietly considering the volume of air they process. However, don't think it's silent - the lowest...

Breathe Easy And Sleep Sound Tonight!
Review of Bionaire BAP615 by
micksheff
Advantages: Removes allergens, pollen, dust, smoke etc from air
Disadvantages: A little bit noisy
...British Summertime came briefly last week and in true British style it has now disappeared almost as fast as it arrived. One thing it did do for me however, was to finally prompt me to get up off my backside, and get my Air Purifier out from the back of the cupboard, where it has been ever since I moved house over a year ago.
My Purifier is an Bionaire BAP615, which I bought from John Lewis a couple of years ago, after my parents had bought the same model a few months earlier and told me on countless occasions how wonderful it was. I will describe what it is like in a moment but firstly some useful background information for anyone considering making such a purchase.
Air Purifier, Humidifier, Dehumidifier - What's The Difference?
Air Purifiers are becoming increasingly popular in portable versions in houses. They remove...

Matchbox sized air purifier - any good for asthma?
Review of Mini Mate Personal Air Purifier by
Suzanne57
Advantages: Compact - light - Silent - cooling - refreshing
Disadvantages: Expensive - needs rechargeable batteries for frequent use
...QUICK ANSWER -
I do like this gadget and I hope that it is doing what it claims.
INTRODUCTION -
I had been looking around for alternative ways of helping to control asthma and came across endorsements for the Mini Mate.
On their own web site I was impressed with the scientific research data that claimed the unit directs a cone of clinically clean air towards your face.
It is marketed as a device to be worn on aircraft to minimise infections that are rife due to the recirculated air or to be worn more regularly if you suffer from asthma, hay fever, allergies to perfume, smoke, mould and pet dander or are suffering from Rhinitis, Sinusitis, COPD or Cystic Fibrosis or just want greater protection from germs & bacteria.
Mini Mate claim that airborne pariticles such as bacteria, viruses, house dust and pollens...
