...Britannia Airways are one of the biggest package holiday airlines in Britain and most of their passengers are customers of Thomson Holidays. We go Thomson most years when off on our summer hols so I?ve used Britannia a several times now. I?ll be honest from the start, Britannia are not a patch on British Airways. But it is unfair to compare the two airlines as Britannia operate on a much tighter budget than British Airways. If you compare the amount of money you pay for a seat on British Airways and the amount Thomson pay for your seat on Britannia I am sure there will be a big difference. So Britannia are a package holiday airline have tight budgets and as well as flying you to your destination they are expected to provide entertainment, decent food and overall give you a pleasant flight. What would you prefer ? pay an extra £250...

Advantages: Nothing positive about the airline

On Saturday 28th February 2009 my family and I arrived to Casablanca international airport at 6.30am to depart to Australia. We went through the usual protocol, we arrived to where the passengers were boarding, handed our tickets to the ground crew, This is where the problem started; we were given the wrong boarding passes without our knowledge. The lady at the boarding department gave us a pass from Abu Dhabi to Australia. We made our way down to the plane. As we arrived into the plane we were given directions on were we were seated. Advantages: efficient, good service, free drinks

...A couple of years ago I was invited to attend a European convention in Slovenia. Quite excited I started looking for ways to get there. The year before, on my way back from Lanzarote, I was taken quite ill on the plane and spent a whole 4 hour journey on oxygen, later being met off the plane by an ambulance. ...In May 2001 I flew with Excel Airways from London Gatwick to Heraklion, Crete. Sadly I was supposed to be flying to Santorini some sixty miles north of our arrival point so I imagine you can tell this isn't the start of a glowing recommendation. Advantages: Laptop Plug!!!!!
Disadvantages: No disadvantages anymore than any other airline

...of research it was nearly £300 per person cheaper than the best alternative quote we'd received. Etihad really set themselves apart from the moment we arrived at the airport. Within ten minutes we had checked-in and were ready to make our way airside. We boarded the new Airbus A340-600 to be awed by the 10.4 inch seat-back screen - the largest in the sky. Over 500 hours of movies and TV programmes kept us entertained. There were films for every taste - 74 of them. From classics and new releases to Asian, Arabian and European cinema. Then there were the 29 games. A repetitive strain injury beckoned. In between I worked on my laptop courtesy of the 110 volt plug under my seat. The socket needed an adapter for a UK plug which was provided free of charge by an air hostess. The 32 inch seat pitch competes with Emirates Airways and Singapore Airlines...

British Airways : Surprisingly Average

Advantages: On demand TV, complimentary bar service
Disadvantages: Drinks trolley brought around once on 7 hour flight, not enough food brought on so little choice

...I booked flights with British Airways when there was a ridiculously good offer on flights from Manchester to New York JFK for £252 return. Our party was made up of four adults and we took advantage of the online check-in in order to choose our seats and speed up the process at the airport. We flew World Traveller class, which is nice way of saying economy. It was a decent size though, we had picked seats in the cabin nearest the back, which I wouldn't do again knowing now that turbulence feels worse towards the back of the aircraft. I'm a nervous flyer at the best of times and I particularly hate turbulence. We had a little welcome pack on our seats when got on the plane which consisted of sleep mask, flight socks, toothpaste and face wipes etc. which I thought was nice, to go with our blanket and pillow. The Airway to the US

...I have flown on US Airways once, and thoroughly enjoyed the transatlantic portion.I was less impressed with my domestic connecting flight. I chose them because it was a last minute trip, and they offered the best deal. I was flying to San Francisco, and I went from Manchester, as it's more convenient to me than their other British destination, Gatwick. The price was high for the last-minute trip in July, but lower than any others I could find, but there are bargain fares outside the tourist season. Like with most airlines, the best deals involve a Saturday night stay. With US Airways too, even the cheapest deals are flexible. You can change your return to anytime within 6 months, for a fee of $100. British Airways..revamped

Advantages: Improved Aircraft
Disadvantages: a little cramped but no worse than other economy seats

...*** I have added an amendment to this Op towards the end of this page *** I flew with BA in September 1997, we got a great deal flying BA from Gawick to Orlando on their 'City of Plymouth' Boeing 747-200 seated in the upper deck.. However our first flight of the day was a British Airways Express flight from leeds/Bradford to Gatwick which we purchased at a special price of £19 return which was absolutely excellent for BA.. the flight from Leeds Bradford was in an ATR42 twin prop and the food and service on board was fabulous, we though if this is the standard then its going to be better than Virgin Atlantic( whom we normally fly with )....sadly how wrong we were going to be on this thought.. when we got into the 747 at Gatwick we were allocated seats in the upper deck, I looked forward to this but the seats were close together...

British Airways - surprisingly good

Advantages: very efficient, nice food, free drinks, good service

...I have only flown a few times in my life and never with British Airways. I have just been on honeymoon to Cyprus and the flights were with BA. The flight was part of the package booked so we had no choice in who we were flying with and also have no idea of the cost. My experience of flying with them was great so I wanted to share it. OUTWARD JOURNEY +++++++++++++++++ We arrived at Heathrow at around 4pm for a 6.50pm flight. We were able to check in straight away, after queing for around 10 minutes. We had dressed smartly, as the travel agent said we might get upgraded as we were on honeymoon, but we would need to look smart. Qatar Airways: A tale of two flights

Advantages: Value for money in business, excellent service, good wine!
Disadvantages: No flat bed in business, lower standard on Africa route, premium terminal falls short

...In recent years I have twice opted to start my holiday with Qatar Airways flights. The first time was a few years ago when I travelled to Nepal and much more recently I visited Tanzania. A few years of regular business travel has left me with the expensive affliction of being unable to tolerate economy class for much over four hours and so the reason I chose Qatar on both occasions was because the business class fares were the most affordable. Indeed I have noticed that Qatar is often very competitively priced in this class, which is slightly surprising considering they are one of a very small number of five star airlines.
