Aiwa HS-TX486 - Fantastic Walkman
Review of Aiwa HS-TX496 by
danwilkie
Advantages: Lots of great features, very durable, good price
Disadvantages: Disadvantages? Yeah right!
...NOTE
************
For background on Walkmans in general and why you should still use them today please see my opinion on “Aiwa Walkmans in General” with the title “Walkmania – Walkmans in General”.
INTRODUCTION
**********************
A few years ago I was looking for a new Walkman as my old one, a very outdated Sony model, had broken. So where do you begin when looking for a Walkman? Well, I personally decided to look in the Argos catalogue for a bargain Walkman made by a brand I could trust. I opted for the same manufacturer as my Hi-Fi, Aiwa, and this attractive little Aiwa HS-TX486 caught my eye at a very affordable price.
PRICE
*************
I forget what the price was back then, but now after some research I can tell you that this little gem can now be bought for just £20.00, which is a real...

aiwa on a new level
Review of Aiwa XD-DW1 by
jakanemo
Advantages: high tech sound and video
Disadvantages: to many wires
...the new product from aiwa brings a totaly new prospective on how to percive dvd technology. the sound is superb an so is the the video. the fact is that this new dvd player is one of the best of its kind. if your are able to configurate the aiwa xd-dw1-prtable dvd player with other high quality products it should give you all of the benefits that dvd can offer. the only trouble you ight get with this product is that there are too many wires and the instalation is not easy as it might seem on the first look. overall it is a fine piece of technology that everyone should be able to afford.

not quite perfect..
Review of Aiwa AM-F65 by
mburden
Advantages: recordable, cheap if you look around
Disadvantages: no belt clip, earplug longevity?
...i bought an aiwa amf-65 from big save.com for £117 it was in my mail order catalog for £199 so with it being a quality make like aiwa i thought it was a bargain, it was but not much longer than a month later the left hand earphone stopped working i contacted big save and they said instead of me sending the whole unit back the would see if aiwa would send me a replacement. aiwa sent an amtrack van to pick up the earphones but didn't send a replacement pair so if it wasn' for a spare pair i had i would not be able to use my machine. other than that it has been a delight to use, fully featured but i would recommend up grading to the machine with the lcd display on the remote as aiwa dosn't have a belt clip so you have to put it in your pocket and then you can't see the display.....

Listen to those golden oldies
Review of Aiwa PX-E860 Turntable by
bobsmith
Advantages: Cheap, play your old records on new systems
Disadvantages: None
...This is fullsize turntable which allows you to play old vinyl LPs on more modern systems. It works by connecting to the AUX port of your system and will work with both Aiwa and non-Aiwa manufactured Hi-Fis.
The speed can be chosen via a push button switch, and the needle can be placed and reset by pressing one of two buttons - start and cut. Start will lift the needle arm and place it down at the start of the record, the start is determined by the speed setting. Cut will cause the arm to lift up immediately and return the its rest....

aiwa - good for a while
Review of Aiwa NSX-S70 by
ronaldo
Advantages: seemingly good value
Disadvantages: stops working!
...This system is the second aiwa midi hi-fi I have owned. The first one had major problems with the CD lens after about three years, and, true to form, having owned my current systen for about three years the CD part of the system is starting to malfunction.
Possibly this could just be my bad luck, but for it to happen twice is downright strange. Up until now I have been pleased with it; it was good value for money and does most of thing I want it to, but unfortunately Now I feel Aiwa as a brand is tarnished in my eyes.
Next time I'll try something different....

It does the job
Review of Aiwa NSX-V50 by
cabletow
Advantages: it all works
Disadvantages: it has no soul
...I have had better I have had worse, the sound quality is typical Aiwa, middle of the range. The features are jam packed but a few essentials are missing like rf4 digital output and a mini disk, which in todays market is a little surprising. The looks are again Aiwa to a tee, slightly futuristic and not quite right somehow. In general if this stereo was a car it would be the Nissan Almera, It has most of the right bits, it is well put together it does the job but it lacks a little soul, a little panache and that is why it looks like and sounds like a mass market system, and I guess that is exactly what it is, so even there I can't mark this product down. I would love to either love or hate this system but I can do neither....

You Can Ring My Bell
Review of Panasonic KX TCD735 by
idol_eyes
Advantages: Jam Packed Full Of Features, Has Answer Machine
Disadvantages: A Bit Pricey
...The Panasonic KX-TCD735 has been my constant indoor companion for about the last 12 months. It cost me about £130 to buy and although that sounds a bit expensive just for a phone it really is worth its money.
The phone consists of two parts. The Base Station and the Hand Set - from here in known as the BS & the HS! If you can make out the picture which Ciao put along side the title then you can see that the HS slots into the BS. The BS can be either wall mounted or just sat on a flat surface. If you want to wall mount the BS then the slot that the HS fits into tilts so that the HS then sits up straight and doesn't stick out at an odd angle! Both the HS & the BS are silver in colour. This is a serious phone; unlike the BT Chameleon I have in the hall this is a phone for grown-ups.
Before first use, the HS must be charged for 15...

Aiwa FM-80 portable mini disc recorder
Review of Aiwa AM-F65 by
farankie
Advantages: Fine editing with a rehearse option and programmable playback of tracks
Disadvantages: Can be hard to find, needs a padded carrying case
...I am amazed that reviews of Minidisc recorders concentyrate on size, colour and how neat they are rather on what they can do.I have found that there is only one brand of portable mini disc recorder that can edit to a hundredth of a second AND programme tracks for playback. That brand is Aiwa. I use my mini disc for editing interviews for my student radio programmes and the nudge edit facility on this machine means I can edit in the field, on the train or on a bus to a degree of accuracy as good as a full size mains operated domestic machine. Whilst Panasonic also offers this facility their portables don't programme. I DJ using CD's but I have a large collection of vinyl and if I need a particular record from that collection rather than take Technics record deck out I copy the track on to minidisc and take my Aiwa portable with me. Using...

wake me up before you go go...the Aiwa alarm clock
Review of Aiwa FR/A220 by
SamJohnson
Advantages: stylish
Disadvantages: not amazingly advanced
...There isnt a great amount to say on this product, largely because there isnt alot to it, its pretty simple:
The Aiwa FR/A220 is your typical alram clock/radio combo.
It demonstrates a digital display and pretty simple-to-use operations for its programming, although, as is the case with alarm clocks, it wasnt as straightforward as the manufacturer, Aiwa, probably invisaged.
It does implement some good design points in its style, take for example the flat bottom, which makes it more stable than some products of this nature, particularly with the typical morning procedure of just hitting the general direction of the clock to shut it up at 7 30am!
Also to the aesthetic bonus of this unit is the detailing of the 2 ring around the display, this adds an addition to the visual content of the product.
The colour scheme isnt brilliantly...
