...Having previously owned a Phillips micro system which was very poor I was looking to Aiwa for a vast improvement. That is what I found when I bought one of their mid-range micro systems. The system contains a single tape deck, single CD and 3 band digital tuner. The range of features on it are wide and useful, while not being overcomplicated. The sound quality is excellent, at all levels. The powered sub-woofers on the speakers allow revenge on any annoying neighbours! The system is also very reliable. I have owned it over a year now and have experience no problems, as opposed to with my previous Phillips system which was fixed 3 times in its first year....

Boys and their toys part deux

Advantages: Crisp sound, cheap and nice
Disadvantages: Lack-lustre EQ, no MD, random mode on remote

Fiesta XR2i with a difference

Advantages: Better torque, more flexible & reliable engine (Zetec as opposed to CVH), higher re-sale value, many improvements
Disadvantages: Still not quite in the league it should be, overshadowed by very similar RS1800 due to its more tuned engine

XR4x4 Vrrooooom

Advantages: Cheap to buy, fast, fun.
Disadvantages: Not too many good ones left, thirsty.

Review of Ford Sierra XR4

Aiwa NSX-V70 Stereo System.

Advantages: Good tone quality, good tape recording quality
Disadvantages: Needs longer leads on speakers - needs frequent CD lens cleaning

...1995 seems like a long time ago but that's when we bought our Aiwa NSX-V70 from Comets and, although I am aware that others seem to have given this stereo system bad reviews, we have found ours to be really excellent. Maybe it's something to do with acoustics but we find the tone very rich, particularly on its equalizer settings - I purchased a couple of phono leads and connected to our nicam Sony VCR and/or DVD player. Another thing that must be said, is that we have not "hammered" the system to maybe that's why is has given such long service. Although the original price was near to £400, I have since seen the same unit going on Ebay from around £50. The prices have come right down on these units now. ...Aiwa NSX-V400 Mini Music System I bought this system just over a year ago and I am all praises. At PDS135.00, at the time, it was a great deal. Prices for this model or the equivalent new model are probably cheaper now. This one has a single CD player but I could have got almost the identical model with 3 CD player for about PDS50.00 more. It also has a double cassette player with continuous play, FM/MW/LW digital radio, 70 Watt speakers (although I was disappointed that these we’re made in the Czech Republic instead of Japan), Surround system, 4 preset graphic equalizer and a host of other specs. The sound quality and output are very good. Do you really want other models and brands, which give you unusable amount of watts per channel, if you’re using it at home? The XR4i Still the business

Advantages: Cheap to buy, superb engine, looks mean
Disadvantages: Poor MPG, Enthusiasts only

...You may consider a 1983 car as being a silly investment. You may picture it covered in rust and sounded awful. If you do, you have obviously not tried an XR4i. I have a 1983 2.8V6 model and I can confidently say, it is in better condition than the 4 year old Rover that is in use everyday. The big V6 under the bonnet starts every time and has never missed a beat in the year or so that I have owned the car. The car has not faltered once in my hands and it is suprisingly cheap to service if you use an independant. The same cannot be said for the body work. If its damaged, you may as well buy another XR4i for parts as panels unique to that car are exessively hard to come by. The engine however is an aural delight if you like brute noise. There does not seem to be a limiter so I am cautious not to over rev it. Open it up on a good...

Beautiful little system for little money

Advantages: Looks superb, Great Value, Easy to Use
Disadvantages: Lacks Bass, Ugly Remote

...I purchased the Awia XR-M78 in a bit of an emergency about 10 months ago as although it may not have a glorious name such as Sony or Kenwood, Awia appears to provide good equipment at unbeatable prices. And the M78 is no exception. It is a very expensive looking micro-system which I picked up for around £100 from empiredirect. It looks like at least £200+ worth of kit. The unit is finished in a sexy aluminium colour and the speakers have a light maple wood style finished with green 'dust covers' over the speakers. When these are removed, the actual speakers is ultra stylish with a chrome style tweeter and the woofer finsihed in silver. Each speaker is rated at 15W RMS, 30Watt in total between the two. The main system unit is very neat although it does have a rather big white remote control which does not look to belong...

excellent shelf system

Advantages: very cheap, excellent sound quality, really easy to use and set up
Disadvantages: only has one set of aux in jacks

...I took a risk and bought this at a car boot sale when me and the old man use to go every sunday. The guy I bought it off said it was virtually brand new (it looked it), and that it was a wonderful shelf system - the only reason he was selling it was that him and his girlfriend were moving in together and they had no need for two. I was looking forward to getting home and checking my new shelf system out - I didn't really know anything about the brand Aiwa, and have never ever seen this CD Player elsewhere. It worked perfect, and had no problems at all - and still havn't, a good 4 or 5 years on. Oak Look Hi Fi

Advantages: Great looks, clear sound, good price

...I have just been out and purchased a small hi fi for my lounge. In days gone by, we had monsterous stacking hi fi systems but, as with all technology, things have shrunk and vastly improved in quality. The same goes for Aiwa Hi Fi equipment. Once upon a time, Aiwa was frowned on in the High Street. Known for its cheaper styles and even cheaper sound, it was one to steer clear of. However, this little beauty does a great job at a great price and looks out of this world. If you pop along to Ikea and look at most of the furniture, light wood is definitely in at the moment.
