MPD 24 become the next big music producer
Review of Akai MPD 24 by
chand93
Advantages: Big pads easy to hit with a excellent solid build ,bright lcd ,note velocities
Disadvantages: its a midi pad controller so you will need a pc or laptop
...The akai mpd 24 is a great machine ,its a perfect subsitute for its older cousins the mpc series which are used by the likes of hip hop pioneering producer dr dre.
This machine has no internal memory as a mpc but once hooked up to your pc or laptop it effectively becomes one with ease .
The pads are from the mpc 2500 series and i recommend working it with FL studio or reason programs ,this midi pad controller gives you the ability to give your drums a more human feel and to trigger samples on the fly .
The LCD display is bright easy to read and the main global knob allows you to flick through presets and adjust note qualities
Theres so much to this machine and i recommend anyone considering to get the rival korg kontrol to go for this as its trigger sensitive pads allow for perfect beat composition.
Any one considering to get a pad...

Step into the light!
Review of Akai S900 by
Jogga
Advantages: quick to use
Disadvantages: lacks functionality, memory etc...
...This sampler reminds me of the first time I entered a real and professional studio in the early 90's! It was a time just before the Akai S2000 hit (see my review) and I was knocked out by it. Must say however that once the S2000 hit it was was the end of my love affair with the S900. It really did knock it out of the water.
The S900 was an adequate sampler for the time, it was in a studio after all and that must have meant something, right? I remember it was easy to use and wasn't long before we were piecing together loops.
If you've ever used an Akai sampler you'll be very aware of it's interface. This is a great feature of the Akai ranges and is a real benefit. this interface has been carried right through and even is a feature of the new Z4/8 series.
Hand on heart I couldn't recommend an S900 in this day and age. The only reason...

Excellent AKAI product - long awaited in the UK!
Review of Akai ADR-5800DI by
thomasperkins321
Advantages: Easy to use, Records & Plays Both DVD+&-, much more
Disadvantages: None
...Firstly, let me say that AKAI are an excellent brand who have been manufacturing high quality, good value for money electrical products for many years. However, although AKAI was a well known & popular brand in the UK in the 90's, best known for it's high quality excellent value VCR's, it has been largely absent from our stores since then so this DVD recorder is a long awaited product in the UK that will hopefully re-introduce the brand back into our highstreet!
I have owned AKAI products for many years, as long as I can remember, and I have always found them to be of an excellent high quality standard, very easy to use with many new and advanced technologies and great value for money. I have owned an AKAI VCR and TV since I was about 8 or 9 (I am 19 now) and both are still working as if they were brand new! The VCR also has many...

That good i bought 2!
Review of Hitachi C28WF560S by
fosbrook6695
Advantages: Fantastic picture quality. Never had any problems on either. Still going strong!
Disadvantages: Second unit didnt come with a free stand.
...This T.V is that good that i have 2 of them! I bought my first set back in 2001 for my lounge as my Akai apparently 'died'. As soon as the Akai packed in i was down a my local electrical retailer picking a replacement. There were so many to choose from at that time, i had in mind that i wanted a 28" flat screen one that was a reasonable make. And then i see the Hitachi at a bargain price of only £399 and it included the stand! And i was quite lucky as i got the last one they had in stock according to the sales guy :D! And then in 2005 i bought another one to go in my bedroom as i was that impressed with the first one!
Well as soon as i bought it i couldnt wait to get it home and set up! And when i did i was you could say very pleased. It was quite heavy but i got it out of the box and put it on its stand without too much trouble...

DVD HEAVEN
Review of Akai DV-P 3410 by
Karnage
Advantages: Plays more than just DVDs, great value
Disadvantages: Can take some time to set up on some TVs
...I've been part of the DVD revolution for a while now, due to my computer being bundled with a DVD-ROM. My family was able to watch our collection of DVDs, however it meant being huddled up in my room, watching from a 17 inch monitor. Not the most thrilling prospect in the world.
We grinned and bared it until eventually we decided to take the plunge and purchase a DVD player for our living room. Looking in the trusty Argos catalogue we looked through the lists and decided on the Akai DV-P3410, a player that seemed to fit all of our needs, and then some.
=PRICE=
The Akai DV-P3410 was for sale in Argos for £99.99, and came with batteries for the remote control, and all the cables that we may have needed to set up the player.
=FEATURES=
The DVD player is capable of playing PAL and NTSC DVDs, but that is not all. It is also able to play...

There is no better introduction to Home Cinema
Review of Sherwood RVD-6095 RDS by
shaun
Advantages: Value for money, build quality, features
Disadvantages: Difficult to bi-wire
...was launched at the end of 1999 with an RRP of £349.99. It was fundamentally the same amp as the incredibly successful 6090 but with an added DTS sound option for DVD users. When it came through to Richer Sounds in numbers the price soon dropped to £249 and it started to sell bucket loads.
I bought mine at that price and I have used it almost every day in the fourteen months that have followed. I have an Akai VS-J717EK-N Nicam VCR and Samsung 709 DVD player running through it. The Samsung doubles as the audio CD player in the main room of the house. The room itself is quite large, about 24 foot by 12 foot, and needs a lot of sound to fill it. The 6095RDS drives a pair of JPW ML710i’s (6 Ohm, 80 Watts) at the front, a Gale Centre 10 in the middle and a pair of Wharfedale Diamond 7.1 Pro’s (8 Ohm, 100 Watts) at the rear. The fronts...

Outstanding Quality and Price
Review of Iiyama ProLite TXA3813MT by
andycapppp
Advantages: Very good Quality.
Disadvantages: No speakers
...After weeks and weeks of looking for the ideal flatscreen monitor to replace my 17" Sony monitor i decieded to buy the Iiyama 15" TXA3813MT LCD monitor.
At the time is cost me nearly £500. There we pleanty of cheaper models around but many seemed very unstable as the base of the monitors seemed to small. The Iiyama on the over hand had a unusually large base which made the monitor very stable but still space friendly.
I was very impressed by the on screen controls and the auto setup feature on the monitor. As soon as the monitor was attached to my pc it ran and auto setup mode that centered the screen perfectly and produced a perfect picture.
I though the image quality on by Sony monitor was impressive but the quality prodecure on the LCD is crystal clear. Also i found that the LCD monitor stayed very cool. I can have the LCD...
