Reviews of akasa cooler
very good quality cooler for AMD CPU's
Review of Akasa AK 876 by
piotrekpol
Advantages: Very cool, easy to install
Disadvantages: copper on the cpu side far from mirror ( needs a polish )
...Test system:
processor - AMD Athlon FX62 (2 x 2800 MHz / 125W TDP)
motherboard - ASUS M2N32 DeLuxe Wireles Edition (passive cooling system with HeatPipe)
Cooler is very easy to install just one lever.
More experienced users will probably remove thermal compound and polish the surface of the cooler ( it is far from being a mirror ) and then apply high quality thermal compound.
This will give You another 1-2 C less and faster cooling down after stress.
all tests were done using Zalman STG 1 ( high quality thermal compound )
Temperature readings after 60 minutes in idle:
Akasa AK-876 37
Arctic Cooling 64PRO 38
Scythe Katana II 39
Temperature readings after 60 minutes in 100% load:
Akasa AK-876 56
Arctic Cooling 64PRO 58
Scythe Katana II 61

Pro Grade, Non-Conducting Paste
Review of Akasa AK TC 5022 by
frozenace
Advantages: Non-conducting, easily applicable, very good cooling
Disadvantages: tube is rather small, for approx 10 applications
...much pressure (i.e. the holding clip or screw pressure).
Akasa claims that it can be used in a temperature range of -20 to 120 degrees Celsius.
I wanted to try the effect of this paste on my 8800 GTX cooler, so I took the card apart (voids the warranty) and removed the existing thermal pad with Akasa TIM Remover (Citrus-based solvent).
After the 8800 chip was cleaned up, I applied this paste in a zig zag pattern, evenly covering the chip and then putting the heatsink back on. After moving the cooler in a circular direction to force the air out, I fastened back the screws.
Booting up the PC and starting the NVIDIA Monitor, the idle temperature of the GPU was 69 degrees, compared to 76 degrees before. When running Supreme Commander, this temperature went up to 82 degrees, compared to around 86 before.
Since the Zalman fan on my CPU...

Cool Cooler!
Review of Akasa AK HD BL - hard drive cooler by
webspot
Advantages: Keeps my drives nice and cool, Cheap
Disadvantages: One fan began to make horrible noise
...This is a great cheap way to add a cooler to your hard drive. My hard drive was constantly getting overheated and ended up cutting out often.
So I went on a mission to find a hard drive cooler that will allow me to continue to use the 3.5" bay. And I found this!
When you get this, it comes with screws and an inbuilt power splitter, incase you're out of moldex conectors. You screw the cooler onto the bottom of your hard drive with the screws that came with it.
Once you've plugged in the power it should be already to go. Turn on your computer, and you're able to see the fan working it's wonders. The fan does an excellent job at cooling my drive.
The only problem I have is after a while one of the fans malfunctioned and ended up making a horrible loud noise. To solve, I just cut this fan off. The cooler still worked fine for me with one...

Dissolves Thermal paste in seconds
Review of Akasa TIM-clean AK TC by
frozenace
Advantages: quick, easy, removal of any thermal paste
Disadvantages: Fumes are not so healthy, bottle cap design
...I got my Akasa TIM cleaner yesterday after asking the tech guys at my company, if they had anything to clean the junk silver thermal paste I had on my 8800 GTX graphics chip.
Using a few paper towels and cotton buds, I followed the instructions on the bottle:
- Scrape off most of the thermal paste
- Apply cleaner using cloth (apply to the paper towel first, otherwise it will flow down onto the chip or motherboard)
- Leave for 1-2 minutes (this can be done in 20 seconds).
- Wipe clean
The Citrus smelling cleaning solution liquefied the silver paste in seconds and almost damanged my graphics card, because it went off too quickly.
Then, dipping a cotton bud in the solution, I also managed to clean the microscopic areas on the chip and the copper base on the 8800 cooler.
It can attack your skin fairly quickly and the bottle design...

About as exciting as HDD cables get
Review of Akasa IDE / EIDE cable by
duck1979
Advantages: About as exciting as cables connecting your PC components get
Disadvantages: None
...For those of you unfamiliar with the art of poking around inside computers, an IDE cable is the bit that connects your hard drive to the motherboard to transfer data between the two.
Normally, this item is a rather dull grey flat "ribbon cable" with (usually, as far as i can remember) 3 unmarked connectors.
This IDE cable from AKASA is different... they do them in a variety of pretty colours (such as the Blue one pictured), and are rounded.... which apparently helps the airflow inside your computer casing, and keeps things cool (apparently your processor runs faster the cooler you keep it + too much heat tends to be one of the many things that can cause the bits inside your computer to wear out quicker)........ they've also "idiot proofed" the cable by labelling the connectors "mainboard"(?), "Master" & "Slave" (master= main hard...

A Beast of a case
Review of Akasa Mirage-62 by
pompey_jon
Advantages: Size, Build Quality,
Disadvantages: Slightly expensive for a case, no fans included
...******************Intro*****************************
You know that when you move house something is going to go wrong, on this occasion everything looked great until I went to switch the hub of my life on, POP! There went the power supply, motherboard and processor! Oh Joy!
Anyway my planned PC project was moved forward a few months.
I spent all of Christmas and some part of the New Year researching the components and selecting the best mix. As I was changing my motherboard and power supply I needed a new case the Akasa Mirage-62 looked like a really good choice even though the price was a little high. I paid around £100 for this case from www.scan.co.uk
If you want a cheaper alternative the Akasa Eclipse-62 is around £20 cheaper and basically the same case but with a different front bezel styling. This review is relevant...

Have u really got time?
Review of Akasa AK MCHC Crystal Clear by
gilly_uk
Advantages: See through :)
Disadvantages: Easily marks, lots of work needed
...are impressive wait until you see this baby. If you decide to properly kit the case out like i did with UV light, LED fans, UV reactive IDE cables and the Cooler Master Jet7 fan(With blinking lights) ;) then you definetely wont be disappointed. At night you can turn off all of your lights and this case will keep the room well illuminated.
Problems - If you dont have time to assemble a case and make everything look neat and tidy then forget about this case straight away. With this case EVERYTHING is on show. Your cables have to be tidy, i have mine within a special chrome tubing to keep them neat and not spread out everywhere. If your not willing to splash out on LED fans or UV lights and LEDs then dont buy this case either. The case is designed to be illuminated and simply looks poor when not lit.
Look but dont touch - I mean this. If you start...

Akasa Integral External Storage Enclosure
Review of Akasa Integral P2 AK-ENP2N-BK by
avenger7855
Advantages: Quick way of expanding hard drive space or retrieving data from a damaged laptop.
Disadvantages: Can over heat if left on for serveral hours at a time.
...The Akasa Integral external storage enclosure, is a great device for individuals who wish to perhaps expand there laptop with more hard disc drive space, or perhaps for those who wish to retrieve the data from a damaged laptop, that still has a working hard drive.
I found the device incredibly handy when my laptop crashed, and I had no way of accessing the data. All I did was remove the hard drive from the laptop and insert it into the storage enclosure device, and away I went, full access again to all my data, just by plugging it into another desktop or laptop. There’s no complicated software to install on the computer, just plug it In and you can access the data as if it was on a flash drive.
There are no mains plugs involved, it use's a USB port from the desktop or laptop to power its self, and it also comes with a protective cover...

Goldfingers
Review of Zalman ZM NB32J by
anthonyi
Advantages: Works well, low cost
Disadvantages: Plastic push pins may prove to be single application only
...to purchase a quality 40mm fan that can be attached to the Zalman heatsink by means of self-tapping screws. Although this may seem self-defeating at first (after all, we’ve been trying to eliminate fan noise as well as improve cooling), £5 will purchase a quiet and effective fan that will significantly outperform most motherboard manufacturer’s stock items.
I took the opportunity a couple of months ago to fit an NB32J to my Abit NF7-S v2.0 AMD Socket A motherboard. I had noticed that the factory fitted item was red-hot to the touch and somewhat noisy. As an inveterate PC tweaker, I decided the time had come for a change. I purchased the Zalman product for a touch over £5, including postage, from a web store and pulled my motherboard out of my PC. The method of removing your current northbridge cooler varies from motherboard to motherboard...

Excellent Core2 Duo Motherboard
Review of ASUS P5B Deluxe/WiFi-AP AiLifestyle Series - motherboard - ATX - iP965 by
pompey_jon
Advantages: Good layout, Excellent overclocker, Good feature set.
Disadvantages: On-board Wi-Fi and Sound are poor. Expensive
...-Connector - This is really useful and allows for easy connection to the headers on the motherboard for the power on, reset, Hard Disk light, Power light and USB2/firewire connections
The board is well layed out and I found no issues with cable placement. My only major niggle was the placement of the IDE interface which could be an issue if your have a smaller size case and find the right hard side of the motherboard is close to any drive bays you may find they foul access to the IDE interface. This was not a problem for me as I installed the board into a Akasa Mirage-62.
Clearance around the processor is v.good so large CPU coolers can be used.
The board features a heat pipe design to cool the North Bridge chipset and this makes the board look a little different (I can't really say whether it makes that big a difference but when overclocking I guess it all...
