Good Enough
Advantages: fast, scrambler, good for racing
Disadvantages: It is quite pricy + needs taking care of.
...A KTM is genrally a good bike all round, although it really depends on what you really need, and want! When I got my KTM I thought that it was a great bike all round. 1 little problem though, it wasn't a road bike! If you are looking for a road bike, then a Fireblade is an exellent choice to make. Anyway, the performance of the KTM is very good, as long as it is taken care of. If this bike gets absolutly no attention at all, then it won't run very smoothly and may not fulfill your requirements. an exellent choice either way, i praise any1 who buys this bike....

My Kawasaki ZX6-R (2003 version)
Advantages: excellent torque and performance and excellent chassis
Disadvantages: riding position can be a strain after a fir bit of miles on a trip
...I have owned my 636 since it first came out.
I have found the sharp response of the chassis when cornering to be close to perfect. I have ridden an R6 and also ridden with R6's on rideouts and I would say the 636 (2003 model to present) has the edge on corners. I would say the R6 wins on comfort (easier forgiving seat) and also riding position. I did feel the strain after around 70 - 100 miles on the bike on some trips. That however is due to the race nature of the bike. The riding position is one of which was designed more for a racetrack.
I have many good rideouts on my 6r and find that when I let a rideout 'friend' take the bike for a spin; they always come back with a smiling face and praise the bike then-on.
I have attached a 'slip-on' Akrapovic aftermarket exhaust on it now and the sound is one which will make you...

Jack machins, lincoln
Advantages: Lincoln Honda/KTM dealer
Disadvantages: Unwarm welcome
...A nice shop near Lincoln city centre, large selection of all models and of both HONDA and KTM. Lots of new and used bikes available.
I bought a CBR600RR from them 2 years ago they offered a great service at a reasonable price.
My only dislike is the customer interaction, there seems to be a un welcome feeling when visiting the shop. This might just be me but we all have our own opionions.
As for service of my bike, they offered a great quality service in great time. Everything was completed correcty and within the time they advised me. The price is reasonable compared to other local dealers.
BE AWARE THEY ARE CLOSED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON, AS ARE ALL MOTOTRBIKE DEALERSHIPS IN LINCOLN
I hope this help you all out....

Charley and Ewans first adventure.
Advantages: More detailed than the TV series
Disadvantages: Not everyones taste
...that may be suitabel for a trip like this, they settle on either a KTM or BMW. Those that have watched the series will know that the final choice was the BMW GS motorcycle.
The training period that is shown in the film shows them having a difference of opinion over which bike to go for but i think they made the correct choice in the end. The bikes are very heavy loaded up for a trip like this but they have a support crewwith them in trucks and off roaders. Without this team behind them the filming wouldnt have been so good. But they also had cameras with them on the bikes so you get to se on bike footage. This all adds to the enjoyment of the film.
The soundtrack to the film adds very well to the overall atmosphere with the likes of Radiohead, Coldplay, Blur and Stereophonics providing the music. The Stereophonics provide the title...

Review of Ewan McGregor And Charley Boorman - Long Way Round (Director's Cut) (Special Edition) (DVD)

Long way round, a trip of a life time.
Advantages: exciting, you can really get into the adventure
Disadvantages: It made me regret not travelling, everytime I watch it I want to explore the world.
...for beginning the trip. We start off with a team of people assisting Ewan and Charlie to work out the best routes from and through each country and organising the visas they need for each country. They also had to decide on the bikes they thought would do the best job at getting them through this long and hard adventure. After disscussions Ewan and Charlie chose two bikes they wanted to compare, Ewan wanted the BMW and Charlie wanted the KTM. After off road tests on both bikes, the fact that the KTM is a specialist off road bike manufacturer and Charlies passion to take the KTM Ewan agrees with this bike. Then follows the dissaster where KTM decide not to provide the bikes as they thought it might damage the good name of the company, charlie took this as KTM saying they were going to fail on their trip and would then blame the bikes. Therefore...

Can you afford a top end overhaul every 50 miles?
Advantages: It has a nice filler cap which avoids spills when filling up your bike with oil.
Disadvantages: Can`t compete wih Shell`s cheaper alternatives. My sylinder was scored thanks to this oil
...rain all day with the Shell ultra 2 and I was afraid the engine was running lean with the compressorized air caused by the weather... But to my surprize it stopped raining and I went out of gas so I filled 98 octane and blended it with 3% Castrol TTS so the engine should run much richer than when it was raining so I am allmost positive that the reason to why my engine broke down was caused by this low quality oil.
I have been told later by a Ducati dealer (this man owns 6 KTM 2 strokes) that the Castrol TTS is bad stuff, and he only runs his bikes on Shell Racing X in worst case scenario the Ultra 2 which he told me he never had any problems with.
And I have been told by another guy whose big brother has been riding for KTM`s MX factory team that the Castrol TTS sux.
If you are going to use Castrol on your Two stroke engine you...

The best starter bike ever built!
Advantages: Cheap, easy to ride, insurance friendly, great first bike
Disadvantages: Build quality, when you park it next to a 900 or 1000cc, you'll want rid
...around roundabouts and take tight junctions on too - handy when you are used to the big handlebars of a CB500!
Once i got used to the bike, i found it a real pleasure to ride, soon came an Akrapovic full race system and a full fairing to boot. The bike sounded amazing and turned alot of heads too. One thing still bugged me though, everytime i parked next to a GSXR or a blade or even ZX6R's i turned into the green eyed monster! Yes, it looked good - it just didnt look as big and sporty as the others, the big gap behind the front wheel and the small fairing made it look so small next to the others.
In fairness, i had showed up alot of bigger bikes around the twisties, and some even on the straights once i was used to riding it. I just wanted something that looked a little nicer.
So i sold the SV and bought an 05 reg GSXR600. To be...

Unleash the Animal
Advantages: all the fun of a 600, WITH MUCH MORE POWER!!!!!!
Disadvantages: Not quite as good finish as Honda's
...to maximum before changing gear, then suddenly the ram air kicks in and it's a riot. Don't get me wrong any biker will understand that although 600's {Sport bikes} will kick the crap out of a car etc, you still need to grab it by the testimonials and thrash the living hell outta it. Genuine top speed I was getting on these bikes was around 145-150mph, but back B- roads twistys was fun. However I soon noticed the difference with this beauty. Mother of god this thing just goes. The thing tries it's best to accelerate faster than I can change gear. The other beauty of track days is that you can practice your standing starts. Furthermore not only is 175mph a reality but it gets there in mere seconds. The Akrapovic race system adds a few more brake horse power, and removing non essential parts, keeps weight down to a minimum. This bike...

A trip of a lifetime.
Advantages: Ewan Mcgregor, amazing scenery
Disadvantages: None.
...Malkin- A well known creative director, who travelled in one of the support vehicles.
David Alexainian- An American creative director, who was a friend of Russ's and was brought on the team by him. He drove one of the support vehicles.
In Russia & Asia they were joined by Sergey who was a security advisor and Vasily who was a doctor.
They were also joined by the young Jim Simak, who was a cameraman. He spent most of his time on the support vehicle filming from there.
The Bikes/ Support Crew Vehicles
Ewan wanted to drive BMW bikes but Charley really wanted the KTM, he thought that they would be better suited for this journey. However, stupidly KTM declined the offer of them using their bikes for the journey as they thought it would be an embarrassment and not very good publicity for them and so the boys went with the BMW...

Surrender to the Madness
Advantages: Incredible graphics and animations, varied gameplay and environments; robust online play
Disadvantages: Inconsistent handling; no music during gameplay
...you see one of your opponents gets squashed by a bus or slammed by a freight train in the Enduro mode.
Regrettably, there are only a small handful of bikes to choose from, from manufacturers like Honda, Yamaha, and KTM and a handful of fictional brands, sporting engines ranging from a modest 125cc to the powerful 600cc. Worse still, I felt very little difference between the bikes, even when I tweaked a few settings in the garage. Other beefs: with the handling, at times I wasn't sure how much the designers were trying to make an arcade game or a simulation. Certainly, 500-foot high jumps and 180-degree turns at more than 100 mph is hardly realistic, but at other times you'll crash far too often by landing a tad off-center, or be thrown out of a Supercross track due to a slight change in rhythm.
Engine sounds are awesome, but...
