Akura - Name Of The Future?
Review of TV - TV Sets by
Demon3311
Advantages: Durable
Disadvantages: Extra Garauntee Costs Money
...I bought my ‘akura’ tv from makro and although the name isn’t very well known the tv has lasted me two years and is still continuing to run without anything going wrong. I bought the tv for 200 pounds. For the money you get a great 28 inch tv with an aerial and scart output. You get a one year guarentee with the tv and you have the option of extending it but at a cost. The tv is very good but you only get this sized tv at this price only when it is made by an unknown brand. However I have had no problems with the tv and hopefully none in the future....

REVIEW
I have a TV with a built-in DVD player that frankly is pants. It has an annoying tendency to forget that humans like to hear their movies as well as look at them. Some months ago, after a particularly irritating night getting the TV/DVD to play a movie I particularly wanted to watch, (having just rented it at great expense from blockbusters), I made the decision to go out the following day and find...

Really bad telly
Review of Akura AVLCD270 by
spike25
Advantages: space saving
Disadvantages: sound and picture quality
...Myself and my fiancee where looking for a small screen lcd tv for our bedroom to save a little space and jazz the room up a little, i came across a few at our local mackro store after looking on the net for one.
There where three to choose from but this Akura at £110+vat was the cheapest but looked the most stylish of the lot but i didnt see it working, how i wished i had. We got it home and set it up turned it on and tuned it on, all this was very easy and simple to do and the instructions if you need to follow them are all easy to read and follow..
When we had set it all up we turned it on and the first thing that struck us was the picture quality, it was, to put it bluntly bad, and then the sound quality, well if you put your telly in a big tin then you will get some idea as to what it sounds like, we tried messing...

Akura AH260 LCD
Review of Akura AH260LCD by
jdstinger21
Advantages: Good picture, Widescreen, HD Ready, Wall Mountable and an assortment of connections.
Disadvantages: Remote control:slightly hit and miss but still works. HDMI connection would be useful.
...I bought this LCD tv roughly 2 years ago. I must admit I was quite skeptical over the manufacturer before I bought it, but it was a good price and had good features too. And I can comfortably say that this LCD tv has not let me down to this day! It has a good quality picture for both digital tv and games. It also supports the HD feature, though I have yet to use it. I am sure it would be more than adequate. The remote control is a standard remote control, slightly hit and miss, but works nonetheless. Although the tv doesn't have an HMDI connection it is always possible to get a HDMI to DVI converter or vice versa in order for it to work with the playstation 3 and other devices (It works with the current DVI connection, but other cables may be required). The tv is also wall mountable, and safe to say I have no problems with it being hung...

*FEATURES GALORE AT A PRICE NEAR THE FLOOR*
Review of Akura ADRW300 by
woody1965
Advantages: HDD/DVD/Timeslip recording, connections, clear menus, price
Disadvantages: Size, slowish start-up/preparation.
...time following the detailed instructions, switch on, TV to AV1 and bingo -there's the set up menu for the Akura.
Followed the auto programme scan, found all the channels, did a quick TV channel reorganise via the VERY clear and user friendly on screen menus and within minutes was recording my first OTR timeslip recording.
Once set up, it was a simple matter of replicating the second unit set up in the second room.
INITIAL THOUGHTS & USE:
Now the best bit of a newly set up toy or gadget : feet up on the sofa, pint of Guinness in one hand, remote in the other and instruction book in the other (three hands ?) play with the buttons and explore. Once again the highly clear and self-explanatory menus came into their own with little reference required of the instruction book, only for clarification here and there.
Once mastered, the acid...

The Combi Wth Style
Review of Akura AODV151R-S / T-S by
Mattroberts
Advantages: Good value, a fair few features
Disadvantages: Some people may require more features, not the best on the market
..., but it handy if you want to find a specific channel immediately).
▲ The DVD Player ▲
After this you’re ready to go. Terrestrial (or Sky) television can be watched at the click of a switch. If you want to watch a DVD you simply press the “DVD/TV” button. This, then, allows you to watch a DVD. If you’re on TV mode then nothing that is to do with the DVD will work, to be able to use the DVD you must have the DVD mode on. It’s simple to use and although the remote control doesn’t look simple it really is. Me – a DVD player virgin – managed to handle it well, and I got used to it in minutes.
The DVD player holds the special feature of allowing you to see sport matches and other events in different angles. I’ve not used this as yet as I haven’t had a DVD applicable for it...

TV ...or not TV...? That is the Question !
Review of BBC - TV Licence by
jouk04
Advantages: Reasonable value for money
Disadvantages: Compulsory, and terrifying if you can't afford it !
...TV or not TV…? That is the question .Wether it is nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows, of the tv licensing spies, for not having a licence...or just cough up and be done with it !
I received a reminder today informing me that my TV licence was due, which prompted me to puzzle the positive pros and cons of this seemingly antiquated licensing system, which is after all an unfair tax on the British public,
The 2006/2007 colour TV licence costs £10.96 per month - about 36p per day for each household. It is free if you are over 75, half-price if you are registered blind.
They must have worked out that half the enjoyment comes from the pictures and half the pleasure comes from the sound ?
The annual cost (set by the Government) is currently £131.50.
A black and white TV licence is £44.
THERE IS NO RADIO LICENSE...

Quick TV and Gossip
Review of TV Quick by
galaxynicole
Advantages: packed full of gossip and a tv guide
Disadvantages: the price could be lower
...TV Quick
There's so many TV guides to choose from now that picking one is hard. Although, I do go for the free one in the papers I always love going to my grans and reading the TV Quick. It's a great TV mag but also a good long read too.
What is TV Quick?
It's a TV magazine with a difference. It's got the normal TV guide that every TV mag has but then there's the extras like all the celeb gossip and interview with soap and tv celebs.
The price
65p which is quite a lot for TV mag but it's not just a TV mag. It's a mini version of Heat so I think the price is quite reasonable.
FRONT COVER
There's the usual TV QUICK red and white logo. Normally on the front cover of the TV Quick, there's a soap star that's going to be in a main storyline that week. For example, Sally's sexy secret. Underneath the face of the soap star...
