Most see me as someone purely into heavy metal, my friends as heavy metal and clasic rock, but even my very close friends don't seem to understand how far my taste goes. I have always loved every type of metal and some rap and dance but it is only recently when i discovered the wonders of 70's Soul and funk. The first time i heard Al Green was on Pulp Fiction with the song "Let's stay together". I loved the song from the first time i heard it but never looked into it until i bought the movie soundtrack, since then i have been searching Al Green in youtube and discovering all sorts of other great music. ...This review is about my time at the magnificent and luxury hotel the Burj Al Arab. I was lucky enough to spend two nights at this hotel during New Years Eve and New Years day 2008/2009. I had a friend who?s dad did a tone of import export business and thus I even managed to stay their for free, yes that?s right for free, under the condition that I paid for all my own food, and drink, which I was more than happy to at the time. Now everyone has either heard about this hotel, been their or at least seen the pictures of what it looks like, and let me tell you its even more breathtaking in real life. This review will hopefully give you an insight into the hotel, information regarding all the rooms in particular the one I stayed in, what the facilities are like, what the food and bar is like as well as the service provided by the hotel...

So mellow!

Advantages: Excellent stress relief
Disadvantages: Too high for most people to sing along to properly!

...Having heard a few of his songs in the recent past (Tired of Being Alone - covered by Texas and Let's Stay Together - featured in the magnificent Pulp Fiction) and the inclusion of a few tasty snippets in a few episodes of Ally McBeale, I was propelled into buying this fab CD. It has a blend of upbeat, dancy numbers and some toe-tapping ballads, but there's a part in most of the songs on this album that I just have to close my eyes to! And I don't consider myself to be an avid fan. This is my only Al Green album, but I definitely wouldn't rule out buying another!...

The Green Gem

Advantages: Great movie, wonderful performances, brilliant direction and a terrific script
Disadvantages: The DVD extras are almost none existant

...By most people?s standards, I am quite a little movie buff and will generally watch anything and everything when it comes to the movie world. My favorite genres are most definitely the 'Horror/Sci fi' and 'Action' films and the 'Drama' section is my least favorite, I do prefer films that go crash, bang, wallop to something you have to sit and listen to. It may come as a surprise then, that I am about to give such high acclaim to a drama movie. The Green Mile staring Tom Hanks is an exception to my fast paced standards, the movie has just about everything in the mix to suit almost everybody's tastes. ...A friend lent me this book this week, I started reading it yesterday afternoon having been off work with a stomach bug and finished it this morning. I had never heard of the author Susan Fletcher and wasn't aware of the novel which had won the 2004 Whitbread First Novel Award and was on the Richard and Judy Summer Read list 2005. However it transported me to the Welsh rugged countryside and helped take my mind of feeling unwell and gave me some inspiration to write another review. The story is told by Eve Green the central character in the novel and she is 29 years old and expecting her first baby. The book describes her memories from when she was 7 years old, that was when she first learnt to fully write her own name "Evangeline Green" and when her mother died. Tuborg Green - A Very Good Lager.

Advantages: good taste, good price for the quality, pull ring caps on bottles.
Disadvantages: not as widly available as other lagers.

...Hot on the heels of The Football Factory  comes another attempt at understanding the British thug sub-culture. This time (in an obvious attempt to increase American awareness) Elijah Wood is cast at the centre of it all, playing a Harvard journalism student turned hard-edged football hooligan. Sound ridiculous? It pretty much is. Green Street is not a hugely terrible film, but it is difficult one to take seriously. Dookie - Green Day

...'Welcome to Paradise' was originally included on the bands 1992 album 'Kerplunk', however was rerecorded for the 'Dookie' album and is one that I feel has been pulled off incredibly well here. It is one of my favourite Green Day tracks and every time I listen to this one I smile. The vocals are strong, the chorus is excellent, and the guitars shine through magnificently as the band smash this one out with great attitude and a huge level of excitement. The band sound so full of life and energy here, this is in my opinion Green Day at their very best. 'She' is another of my favourites from this album. It is a well written track and once more shows the band at their best I feel. It's quite soft in sound but the lyrics are hard hitting and it works extremely well at the centre of this album I feel. ...My 4 year old son received this book for Christmas and I have so enjoyed reading it to him that I'm sharing the experience with you all. The Green Ship is written and illustrated by Quentin Blake, who you will probably know from his illustrations for Roald Dahl. As well as providing illustrations for many other children's authors, he has also written his own books, some of the most well known are Mister Magnolia and Clown.
