Alba TRDAB2820
Review of Alba TRDAB2820 by
jacobsdad1979
Advantages: Excellent value for money, lightweight, easy to use
Disadvantages: Small buttons, LCD screen not always easy to read
...I was brought this radio Christmas 2007, so have had is for seven months as I write this review.
My other have chose this radio for me based on price - it was £39.99 from Argos.
ALBA are generally known as a budget manufacturer of electrical goods, but based on this product their build quality appears to have improved.
This DAB digital radio also have a built in FM radio, so you can use either. It has a headphone socket (so you can use personal headphones OR an adapter to plug this into your existing home stereo system). It also have phono type outputs on the back which again allows you to plug a low-level signal into your home stereo system. When you consider the cost of some digital radio recievers this is a very cheap way of making your old FM home system digital.
The display is blue LCD (which can be slightly difficult...

Affordable DAB Radio
Review of Alba TRDAB2820 by
bluenosesquonk
Advantages: Exceptional value for money
Disadvantages: Mono output / no external aerial option
...ALBA TRDAB2820 DAB RADIO
-------------------------------------------
My wife bought this radio to replace a fairly modern non-DAB receiver that we have in our kitchen. She was desperate to receive the same channels that we listened to on the DAB radio in our bedroom that were not available locally on the analogue FM and AM networks.
So my wife's main reason for change was based on channel selection (Kerrang and Planet Rock).
For me, apart from the advantage of receiving more channels, I was just as interested in improved sound reproduction and a reduction in interference.
I am glad to say that this very attractively priced DAB radio achieved both objectives and has been used for at least 3 or 4 hours per day since its purchase.

I Needle a Pine of ALBA
Review of ALBA Scots Pine Ale by
proxam
Advantages: Unusual, very different flavours
Disadvantages: A bit TOO different
...stretch it out with cheaper adjuncts like rice and corn. Doing this ensures you end up with something that can only be drunk ice-cold, because if it warms up it tastes disgusting.
So, now that we've established that, here's another bombshell. I'm Scottish.
Isn't all this irrelevent? I hear a pathetic voice squeaking from the back. Hmm, I won't even humour her with an answer.
The previous ramblings, far from being incongruous, bring me neatly to the subject of this review.
A quality, Scottish ale with unusual ingredients - ALBA SCOTS PINE ALE. (Alba is the Gaelic name for Scotland)
CRAIGMILL BREWERY is located in an 18th century watermill in Strathaven, Lanarkshire.
HEATHER ALES claim to fame is their practice of using different, and sometimes unusual, ingredients to produce their beers. These are based on traditional...

Alba STB8 Set Top Box (for Freeview)
Review of Alba STB 8 by
wanlan
Advantages: Inconspicuous and Easy to Use
Disadvantages: None
...Increasingly new TV’s are entering the market as Freeview ready, the internal electronics of the set eliminating the need for a separate box of tricks. However where that is not the case either with a new TV set or indeed with existing older models which you may have in the home a digital set top box will be required to receive freeview digital TV.
Digital set top boxes (digital terrestrial receivers) have been getting progressively smaller and neater. For Freeview we have replaced our older larger clunky Sagem model with an Alba STB8 which comparatively takes up far less space, can easily be placed behind or beside the TV that it serves, and is much lighter in weight.
The package includes the receiver itself which measures (a sleek) 21cm (width) x 14cm (depth) x3.5cm (height), remote control plus batteries, rf cable, and two...

Alba DVD113 - Perhaps its days are over
Review of Alba DVD 113 by
gusgusrule
Advantages: Cheap, stylish design,
Disadvantages: Doesn't play all media, noisy
...After all the hype calmed down and so did the prices, I decided it was time for me to go out and buy a DVD player, I choose the Alba DVD113
-----------------------------
MARKET AND PRICE
-----------------------------
I purchased this DVD player a few months back at the low price of £40. Despite this however the player has actually been on the market for a couple of years. Now when you consider the extent of DVD players two years ago, basically your looking at a DVD player and nothing more, it lacks the fancy features of the more recent players today and therefore is limited in its capability of playing certain medias. At the time, however, it wouldn't have suprised me if this was a market leader, I would have expected to pay over £100 for it, being the stylish, fancy DVD PLAYER it is.

Alba ISR7000
Review of Alba ISR7000 by
Trev1000
Advantages: Easy to obtain, very cheap, multi frequency
Disadvantages: Will not work with digital satellite signals
...If you don't want digital but are looking for a reasonable analogue system, the Alba ISR7000 could be the answer you're looking for.
Although Alba has a reputation for cheap and cheerful products, in this instance they have gained good ground with the ISR7000. It's a very plain looking compact unit, but internally does the biz without missing a beat, and when you consider that this model is now 3 to 4 years old and still going strong, it makes the competition in most cases absolute rubbish. For example I know of at least 3 friends who have owned or used the Amstrad and Pace equivalent unit, and have long since chucked them as they continually break down.
The unit itself is very compact and coloured in the standard black as with most late 90s stuff, it is also exceptionally light making it easy to position in most homes...

A little alba sorts
Review of Alba STBX3 by
RAF_Reviewer
Advantages: Sleek and Stylish
Disadvantages: Pathetic EPG and Program system
...This alba Freeview adapter was purchased as a family gift for my grandfather at christmas, so that he could watch certain programs in the comfort of his bedroom, whilst me grandmother was watching her saops in the front room. Unfortunately, this did not work out exactly as planned.
The box arrived a couple of days prior to christmas, and when we opened it up to make sure that everything was present and not damaged, i have to say that we were all amazed at how small, sleek and modern it was for such a bargain product. This reaction was replicated by my grandfather when he unwrapped his gift on christmas morning, and he decided to get me to install it for him the following day. I went around after i had recovered from my hangover and proceeded to unpack and install the device, and it was when i came to add the programs that i found...

Alba having some of that!
Review of Alba DVD45 by
Shortsharpshock
Advantages: Dirt cheap, slimline, plays MP3's and CD's.
Disadvantages: Not multi-region, remote will not last.
...I am no technical wizard; I clung on to my VHS recorder for dear life until videos became virtually non-existent for the most popular films. It was then and only then that I decided to invest in a DVD and even then I looked for the cheapest I could find. Functionality was my only purpose when searching for a player. I cared not whether it could play mp3's, CD's or STD's I just wanted a slimline, unobtrusive player that played a DVD from start to finish. As such finding the Alba DVD45 for a mere £27.99 in my local Asda was a Godsend.
Measuring 36 cm across and 5 cm high this is a surprisingly slimline DVD player. It is quite stylish for the price with a silver shell and black panel front. Setting it up is refreshingly simple and requires plugging the scart lead (supplied) into the back of the DVD player and then into the scart...

Don't tell them its Alba. The best budget Player
Review of Alba DVD 103 by
Locklin
Advantages: Region 1/2 encoding for £120
Disadvantages: Not the Jennifer Lopez of DVD Players
...If you thought that Alba was pants then read again I have recently purchased the budget model make 103 after recommendations from countless DVD magazines. The ace in this models pack is that it includes Region 1/2 encoding which means you can also play American discs bringing the price of DVD's down just check www.play247.com. It can also play VCD’s that you can find on sale for about £1 in countries such as Malaysia and also on the web if you look hard enough. It has two scart sockets so it is easy to connect to your T.V. and Video. It also has all the regular features you would expect from a medium priced player all this for £120 just go to www.argos.com and you will believe me.
The picture quality is what you would expect from a mid range player and I have found the sound to be faultless. It is also NTSC compatible...
