Cream play at the Royal Albert Hall
Advantages: You get to hear the original Supergroup reformed
Disadvantages: The album shows what good music some of us missed played live.
...Eric Clapton is my favourite guitarist not only for his longevity but for the skill in his guitar playing. He with Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker reform in 2005 for a series of Concerts initially at the Royal Albert Hall but then going world wide for a tour.
I saw Eric Clapton with Blind Faith at one of the early free concerts in Hyde Park in the late sixties, I think june 1969, as a teenager so was quite upset that I missed the Albert Hall Concerts especially as one fell on my birthday 5th May 2007.
However I first recorded the concert from TV and then was bought the album and DVD the Christmas following it's release. The concert is magical. There are three 60 year old rockers who hadn't played all together in a band for forty years. Playing the songs as the did all those years ago. They play, in my own personal opinion, better than...

Peter Kay.Live at the Bolton Albert Halls
Advantages: Great laughs throughout
Disadvantages: ???
...I bought this dvd about 3 months ago on Ebay.
After loving his hit series 'PHOENIX NIGHTS',and watching 'Live at the Bolton Albert Halls',about two years previously I knew he was a class act, with a unique comedy style of his own.
It wasnt up until just randomly coming across it on Ebay that I was reminded what a great and hilarious talent he is.
I payed only 0.99p for the dvd, which had been used previously, but had come in great condition.
Only yesterday,I saw it in HMV for 6 pounds, which is great value for such a great installment of laughs.
The DVD is called 'Peter Kay,Live at the Bolton Albert Halls,as part of his 'Mum wants a Bungalow Tour'.
Bolton being his home town,it was bound to be a sell-out
It's filmed as part of his sell out ,180 date tour that spanned 9 months and was seen by 300,000 people.
Many people who are seen...

Halls Soothers
Advantages: Taste nice, soothe a throat
Disadvantages: No medicine
...It's that time of year again, winter!! and to start it off I have a cold so this morning at the station I bought my favourite pack of cough sweet, Halls Soothers. Each packet was £0.65 but this was a station and I know you can get them cheaper in places like Boots etc.
Halls are quite an impressive company. According to their website they account for more than 50% of international cough drop sales and their Halls Soothers range is the UK's number 1 medicated confectionery product. Halls was actually started by two brothers, The Hall Brothers in 1893 and originally they produced soap and jams. They then moved into confectionery and in the 1930's invented the popular mentho-lyptus which is the basis of most of their cough drops now.
Halls Soothers are basically hard fruit sweets (boiled sweets) with a refreshing liquid centre. From...

RAH RAH RAH! I love the RAH!
Advantages: Great music, great location, great night.
Disadvantages: Parking is hard, prices can be high, often very busy.
...Hello everyone. It's been an excessively long time since I wrote my last review, and I miss writing, so I'm going to plunge straight into this one.
The Obligatory Background Blurb
I spent the first year of my University life in a hall of residence that is quite literally a neighbour of the Royal Albert Hall (RAH). Many of the rooms (though unfortunately not my own) had a view of this amazing building. I saw the RAH almost every single day - and I took advantage of my proximity by going to lots and lots (and lots) of performances, which is why I feel somewhat qualified to tell you about it. I'm not going to talk about any specific shows in detail, as I'd be screwing myself out of potential reviews in the future! I suppose there's some irony in the fact that I'm writing this review in the holidays, when I'm nowhere near...

Hollins Hall for a pleasant stay!
Advantages: *
Disadvantages: *
...the same. The lockers were large enough for me to share one with my mam (and also my niece, one day when my sister didn?t go swimming) so we found we only needed to take £1. The lockers also had space to hang your clothes too.
There were toilets and showers in the changing area as well as a machine to spin the water out of the swimming costumes, which worked very well. I didn?t know what it was at first but my dad told us about the one in the male changing area so I went back into the ladies and used it.
Checkout
Checkout was smooth and easy and we had no problems.
Cost
The room prices vary depending on the room type and when you go but they start from around £89.00 per night. It?s worth looking on the website or ringing up to see when they have offers on though.
Other
Hollins Hall is located in Yorkshire about 27 miles...

Music Hall Days
Advantages: Great DVD
Disadvantages: None
...of Gus Elen, Arthur Askey, Marie Lloyd, Dan Leno, Gracie Fields, Charles Colbourne (his performance of Two Lovely Black Eyes, probably the only political music hall comedy song ever!) is a real joy to watch and hear, even though when it was recorded when he was already a very old man.
George Laybourne was famous for the song Champagne Charlie. Incidentally, there is footage of Tommy Trinder portraying Laybourne singing this song in a role in a film.
There is also film of other stars, and audio recordings of others, such as Albert Chevalier, famed for his moving song, My Old Dutch.
It has no extras, runs for 75 minutes and even if you do not have an interest in music hall, I think you will like this DVD.
It is listed on Ciao as being available at £8.99. It will make an ideal present for someone you love or for yourself....

WWF Albert
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...Albert
Albert is a very big man - he weighs in at 350 pounds and most of that is pure muscle! and he is a big man too, 6'8 inches or somewhere along those lines!
He has an array of moves he uses. The first is his finisher - the Baldo Bombb; aptly named considering his hair style... or lack thereof... In which he lifts them by the throat and drives them to the floor.
Second is the big kick, a standing scissor kick type thing, it looks good and is very effective. He also uses coner splash and big splashes, gorrila press slams and basically any and all power moves...
He started as Prince Albert and feuded on Metal with D'Lo Brown; he then went up the rankings and teamed with the Big Bossman. He then formed the T&A with Test (Test and Albert equals T&A, Get it?) and they came close to the tag titles but never got them. they then...

Hardwick Old Hall
Advantages: Historical, interesting, great views
Disadvantages: Not a huge amount to see
...A couple of weeks ago Mr Tart and I headed for the Peak District to visit his family. As a big fan of all things old I wanted to visit some sort of historical site as my part of the weekend (don?t worry, her got a 7 mile walk out of me for his part!). I?d always wanted to visit Hardwick Hall, especially as the Tudors is one of my favourite historical periods and was very happy to hear it was so close to where we were staying.
SOME HISTORY:
I doubt if many people will have heard of Hardwick Old Hall. I certainly hadn?t and I like to think I?m quite a bore when it comes to these sorts of things! The Hall was built by Bess of Hardwick (Elizabeth, Countess Shrewsbury) between 1587 and 1596. Bess was one of the foremost women of the Elizabethan age and managed to get through four husbands on her way up the social ladder. Bess was...

Whirlowbrook Hall, Sheffield
Advantages: Lovely setting
Disadvantages: Cafe is expensive
...Whirlowbrook Hall is located about 5 miles to the west of Sheffield city centre, close to the county border of Derbyshire and on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It was built in 1906 as the family home of Sir Walter Benton-Jones, a leading industrialist in the city.
Today, Whirlowbrook Hall is one of the premier venues in the region for weddings, conferences, banquets and meetings. Within the building there are numerous different rooms that can be hired out for these private functions. The venue now also holds a civil marriage license so it is possible to get married here in addition to holding your function here afterwards.
The various rooms range dramatically in size. A few years ago I worked for a company that hired out the Music Room on several occasions for its senior staff meetings and this is when I first became...
