Choice Hotels in Blackpool

Advantages: Well appointed,clean, kids club,spacious,good food,friendly staff
Disadvantages: None

...I know, I know, Blackpool is perceived as fish'n'chips, bucket and spades, amusement arcades, B&B's. What about something different? Choice Hotels in Blackpool run 3 hotels - The Claremont (near the North Pier), the Talk of The North (near South Pier) and the Cliffs Hotel (North Promenade just up from Gynn Square). My family and I have stayed at the Cliffs Hotel on 6 occasions, ranging from weekend breaks to full weeks. Why? The hotel is large and well appointed - it has a 1920's feel about the facade and interior and is very clean and spacios. There are 5 bars and a large resturant. The food is excellent with a very good selection - the staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a well appointed leisure club - free to residents. It has a pool, jacuzzi, small but very good gym, sauna, sunbeds and a leisure club bar. It...

Norbreck Castle Hotel - Blackpool

Advantages: Late bar and all you can eat food
Disadvantages: Too far to the town

...My friends and I decided to have a weekend away because it was one of their birthdays. We booked for a two-night weekend break at the Norbreck Castle Hotel in Blackpool through National Coach Holidays on 19 November 2004. The brochure described the break as being ?All inclusive? and we looked forward to fact that we would be able to drink copious amounts of alcohol for free (and why not!). We paid £89.00 for two night?s dinner, bed and breakfast with drinks also included from 7.30pm ? 10.30pm in one of the three bars in the hotel. When we arrived at 1.30pm we were met in the lobby with a poster telling us that we were unable to check in until 3.30pm, this was our first mishap. The décor in the lobby was okay and the hotel on the surface seemed rather nice. We made our way to the bar (as you do), to kill a couple of hours...

The Elgin hotel, Blackpool

Advantages: lovely food and good service from the waiters
Disadvantages: Everthing else about the place

...I have already done a review about Blackpool, and I absolutely love the place, we went to Blackpool two years ago on a family holiday, myself husband and three kids. We booked our holiday through The Belfast Telegraph travel agentsand we went through Ulster Bus tours, the price was £800 approx this included traveling expenses and the hotel.(Bed, breakfast and evening meal). The hotel was the Elgin and we were told that this was a great hotel for families. Arriving at the hotel We arrived at our hotel at about 7.30pm and had to que at the reception to get our keys this I didnt mind but our dinner was at 7.45pm and we still had to get our luggage to our room, we got our luggage sorted and went down for dinner, the food was beautiful and the service from the waiters was fantastic. First impressions of the hotel Well there was...

Claremont Hotel, Blackpool

Advantages: Lovely staff, great location, Facilities, Cost!
Disadvantages: Ummm...oh, parking.

...We have stayed in both the Claremont Hotel and their Motel apartments, both of which we had a great time. A group of us decided that we would take a trip down to Blackpool during the summer for a weekend stay from Friday - Sunday. We browsed through loads of hotels with one thing in mind - PRICE! For the 2 nights staying at the Motel it cost £75 each - but check the website to get an up to date tariff. The £75 was for the room only - we didn't want to pay for bed and breakfast, we just get breakfast if we fancy it, or are awake when it is being served! The hotel has a Motel in a separate building to the back of the hotel, which is laid out like a block of flats. Pricing of food and drinks from the bar is very fair, but you would be cheaper in a pub (as with most hotels). We went to Blackpool in August, and were lucky to have...

A bleak Blackpool hotel

Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review

... Background When Mrs B and I decided that we would take Baby B on her first seaside holiday we knew that Blackpool was tacky so knew that it wasn't exactly sparkling and the place it used to be but we thought we would go along anyway and try and have a little family break with our 3 month old baby. It all seemed like a really good idea but seeing as we were not the most rich of new parents we thought we'd do it on as much as a budget as possible and after trawling through the internet we came across Liberty's and decided that it sounded ideal. The fact that it included dinner in with the deal was really what swung it for us, we didn't fancy walking around for hours in an evening trying to find somewhere to eat with a young baby in tow. First opinion When we first saw the hotel we immediately thought what have we done...

ARUNDEL HOTEL, BLACKPOOL

Advantages: Quiet location,competitive rates,clean & homely
Disadvantages: Distance from Blackpool centre, hospitality (see below, my verdict)

...I visited Blackpool with my husband and our two children during the Easter holidays, we stayed for three days and two nights in a three star hotel in the North pier area of Blackpool. We won our stay on an Ebay auction but the hotel can also obviously be booked in a more traditional manner (by phone, post or email). *CONTACT DETAILS* The proprieters are: Andrew and Roxanne Sandiford The address is: Arundel Hotel 102 Queens Prom Blackpool Lancashire FY2 9NS Telephone: 01253 351838 Fax: 01253 595952 Website and Email: www.arundelhotel.com enquiries@arundelhotel.com *THE HOTEL* The hotel building is victorian (as are most in Blackpool), it has twelve...

Norbreck Castle Hotel

Advantages: Out of the town
Disadvantages: Too many people!

...I'm glad that I did not get to read any of the reviews before I went to this hotel, or see the Holidays from Hell programme the night before! The hotel can be found along the seafront, about three miles from the main centre of Blackpool, heading out towards Fleetwood. It is now under the Britannia hotels group and it is easily accessible by tram and bus. We used the trams the whole time instead of me driving all the time. My husband, my two youngest children and myself went last week for a couple of nights, after finding an advert which gave a special price of £35 per person dinner bed and breakfast per night. The two children were included free of charge, including their meals. The advert did state that the hotel was ungoing a £7million pound upgrade, and that some services may not be available. This did not deter us as we...

A Long Weekend in Blackpool @ the Grand Metropole

Advantages: Clean and generally friendly hotel, very reasonable prices
Disadvantages: Rooms need ventilation

...Are you seated comfortably? This is a long review of my stay at Blackpool?s Grand Metropole. WHAT AND WHERE? The Grand Metropole Hotel, Blackpool boasts that it is the only hotel in Blackpool located between the sea and Blackpool promenade which is certainly the truth. From the hotel there are fabulous views of the Irish Sea. The hotel is fairly close to both the North Pier and Blackpool Tower and is within walking distance from many of Blackpool's attractions. There are numerous bars, restaurants and nightspots within a few minutes walking distance of the hotel, some even less than a minute away. BOOKING PROCESS/RECEPTION We booked in for 3 nights in late June 2009. The booking process was easy enough by telephone and although I asked for a confirmation email to be sent and was advised they would do send one; no...

My partner is a hotel inspector and we walked!

Advantages: None
Disadvantages: try no windows or natural light in rooms for one thing!

...Firsty my partner who for a living visits the best 4* and 5* hotels all over the UK as either the guest of the hotel group or the local tourist board as she brings Russians to the UK to spend some of that money they make from oil. 9/10 times although invited to an area, she actually goes and makes the visit unannounced as a paying customer. Blackpool tourist board invited her to come to Blackpool as they thought her client group would want to come for the new style casinos and entertainment on offer. Ok that's the background and I went with her as the room she booked was priced per room not per person. She decided on this hotel as it was recommended by the tourist office as the sort of place perfect for the higher end holidaymaker. She was aware it was part of the Britania hotel group which included an awful central...

Review of Norbreck Castle Hotel, Blackpool

Good hotel, will be going again.

Advantages: Close to beach, nice rooms and pleasant staff.
Disadvantages: Not very good views and expensive drinks

...I found my stay at this hotel very pleasant. The hotel was about 10 minutes away from Blackpool Tower, so it was out of the way of most hustle and bustle. When we arrived we were quite surprised as to how big it was, and there was plenty of parking spaces available. We arrived a little early than was specified, but we just went and sat down in the bar, the bartender was very pleasant, although the drinks were a little more expensive than usual. The bar had some nice views of the sea, and also you could view the pool from the bar area. The seats and tables were a little tatty, cigarette burns in a few places and dirt, but still usable. When we went to check in there was a queue, which went down quite quickly as there were 3 people on the desk. The person who dealt with us was also very pleasant, and was very helpful when we asked...
