Alcatel OT-S319- Good value, simple phone

Advantages: Good value, attractive design, robust, battery life
Disadvantages: texting process, perhaps too basic

...When my mobile inexplicably and frustratingly stopped working a few months ago, I decided to purchase the Alcatel OT-S319 as a budget -buy replacement . The Alcatel phone was one of the cheapest on offer, priced at just £15 in my local argos. The handset is a small, compact and modern looking "clam-shell" design and is available in either pink or black. This is a very basic ohone with only the 'essentials' in terms of features. It provides predictive texting, 2 games, 10 ringtones, a 300 capacity address book and good range of embedded images and animations for wallpaper/screen saver displays. Having used the phone for a while I have found to be easy to use, with good battery talktime (I usually only need to charge it twice a week) and excellent reception. Great for Orange Wednesdays if you can manage to text

Advantages: Cheap, neat, small, clamshell
Disadvantages: Very hard to text with

...WHY BUY THIS PHONE? Alcatel OT-S319 I first came across the cheap little phone when a friend of mine was over from Australia and needed a phone with a UK sim. One way was to get her phone unlocked and then put in a UK sim in her phone or the other solution which she went for was to buy a cheap UK phone with sim included. We looked at Tesco but their cheapest was £19 so I went across the street to the Phones4U and found this cute little phone in either pink or black for £9.95 but you have to buy £10 worth of credit so it comes to £19.95 but of course you need credit anyway to make any use of the phone so it is a great little buy. Finally, Alcatel does it right on OT535

Advantages: Large color screen, complete MMS including Voice MMS, loud speakerphone
Disadvantages: Not tri-band, can't send ringtones via IR

...If Alcatel decides to put its mind and effort in creating good quality cellphone products, it can deliver the goods. Proof of these are their latest offerings, the OT535 and OT735. Both have the same look and features except that the latter has an integrated camera. Gone are the user-unfriendly days, I assure you. I decided to buy the OT535 as a replacement to my old but reliable Nokia 8210. I chose this model after carefully comparing and actually trying it with other competitor products in its class: Nokia 3100, Samsung C100 and Siemens M55. I'm not saying that these 3 products are inferior to OT535. It's just that I find this Alcatel phone better fit to my needs. Now to my review. Review of Alcatel One Touch 535

Excellent, Cheap Little Phone!

Advantages: Nice User Interface/Menu, Lots of Features, Good Sound Quality, Lightweight, Decent battery life.
Disadvantages: Only GPRS internet, Should support more file types

...supported EDGE or UMTS. As for battery life, mine seems to last about 5 days at the most with a few calls, texts and GPRS daily usage. The free downloadable software available for this phone(Alcatel PC Suite), is also quite useful, allowing you to transfer files, text messages and contacts between the PC and phone and also allowing you to use the phone as a modem or web cam. My only disappointments with this phone are that it only supports GPRS, the camera is only 1.3 Megapixel and that it lacks handwriting support and support for more file types. Overall this is a very good phone and if you buy this on Orange, you get earphones and a 1 metre long USB cable bundled within the box. I recommend it to anyone who is going to buy a pay as you go phone for under £50...

Alcatel 501 WAP phone

Advantages: Conctacts synchronisation, big screen, easy navigation, unique looks
Disadvantages: Build quality, unknown brand in UK (especially for higher end phones)

...Now available directly from Alcatel's web site this phone is fantastic value. Not only does it look great and is quite light, it performs like a much more expensive phone. The five-way joystick right below the screen makes navigating around the many options a doddle. The screen is large and high definition and is superb for viewing WAP sites (yes, I am a fan despite all the detractors) as well as composing text messages. The whole thing oozes character and is ideal for anyone looking for something a little bit different without having to pay through the nose. The ringers are a little mad but fun and you can even record your own short voice memos. To get the best out of the phone though you really have to get the optional PC connectivity kit. OK, so it is a serial connection and thus a bit slow, but you only download your Outlook...
