My goodness, my Guinness!

...This was the first Guinness World Records book I ever owned. I must say it is actually quite good. DEGREE OF INFORMATION The amount of information in the book is very high, mainly because there are LOADS of world records out there. I think that it is layed out very well - it is easy on the eye, and there is enough information to explain what the world record is about, what happened, and who it was set by. I think that overall there is lots of info to explain every record. HOW INTERESTING WAS IT? This book was extremely interesting, (especially finding out the world's largest known prime number!) and I would have stayed in bed all night reading it if I hadn't have felt so tired... once you read 1 or 2 pages you have to read a few more - the explanations of the information are that interesting you cannot help but read as much...

...As a child I used to get a Guinness Book of Records every year for Christmas so I've always been quite interested in the whole idea of the records. When I saw that there was a Videogame dedicated to the records, I could not resist. The game begins by giving you the option to choose a character which you can customise in a way similar to that of the Miis. Clothes, hair colour, accessories and, of course, name. At this point, I must say, mine looks pretty damn cool. Once you have made the introductions you are straight into the action. There are around 40 mini-games available to play but you have to 'unlock' them by completing the basic games and earning enough to points to play the more advanced ones. The games are all fairly easy to play but sometimes the instructions are not explained clearly enough and you have to figure it out as...

...Guinness Living in Ireland I have very early childhood memories of male relatives supping on pints of Guinness. I always thought it was funny when they ended up with the Guinness moustache after their first drink and I even remember getting a few a myself (although I didn't drink the stuff back then). I first dabbled with Guinness when I started working in a bar. It was a real mans bar and everyone drank Guinness in some shape or another. Back then to be honest I didn't really like the stuff. It was very heavy and was almost like a meal in a glass. I also found I got drunk very quickly on and it's not really practical to drink in busy clubs so I became more of a lager drinker. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging.
