Jean Alesi A god in yellow overalls
Review of Jean Alesi by
F1Fever
Advantages: Style, temperament and a well needed character for the sport
Disadvantages: needs more testing when it becomes avaliable to gain knowledge of the car
...Jean Alesi is a great driver who drives with every ounce of passion and desire as his begginings in the 1989 Tyrrell. Now in the Jordan, he looks around 25 in the overalls, hes got the desire and a car that he can demonstrate his brilliant racecraft and potential as a hard racer.
His last fewcars have been disapointing, Saubers and Prosts, but hes managed in the main to squeeze something out of them and has never given up on the desire to compete. His celebrations after minor point`s scores this seasons races show how even small achievements, light the fire of his competitive edge
Now even though the oldest on the grid, he still wants to race, unlike Damon Hill who was just there to pick up his pension money, he is in a top team and , if he`s offered a contract there for next season he copuld be a race winner again if Jordan can...

Style, Specification, it's a SONY! (Vaio VGC-M1)
Review of Sony VAIO M1 - Mobile Pentium 4 3.06 GHz - 15.4" by
sneakyweasel
Advantages: Total integration, high specification, stylish and innovative.
Disadvantages: Costly 'Sony' brand name, possible upgrade troubles.
...than bother about spending hundreds on upgrading.
Overall, this stylish machine is unbeatable for the specification together with the reliability of the Sony brand name. I spent my time looking, and still can't find anything significantly better. Save the time I took looking, go out and buy the Sony Vaio VGC-M1 now!

Sony KLVL23M1 S (Silver) - Quality LCD TV!!!!
Review of Sony KLV-L23M1 by
STENDEC
Advantages: Sleek design, Sony WEGA engine, Superb picture
Disadvantages: A bit expensive and only 23" for the money, but prices are coming down.
...I bought the above TV in february 2005 from QED. It cost me £795 back then.
Well. First impressions. Its a unique and attractive design, the silver version looks particularly modern.
The TV was incredibly easy to set up, taking less than ten minutes from opening the box to watching BBC1. An easy to use menu with just enough feautures to remain workable and easy to use, whilst enabling a lot of choice and options.
The sound quality is excellent, I find the Virtual Dolby Surround option to be very effective indeed.
The sony WEGA engine creates wonderful images. I havent noticed any blurring or drag on images that have been reported on some LCD TVs. On TV pictures the image is crisp and clear but the picture on DVD use is truly spectacular!!!
For me the 23" screen is perfect, but I suppose for some people this might be too small? I...

Heart of a Sicilian
Review of Jean Alesi by
BloodySpike
Advantages: Great Skill and Heart.
Disadvantages: went to the Wrong teams at the wrong times
...him. I have had a few pictures of me taken with him. Also at Silverstone one year he remembered my name when i was in the Paddock. ( how good was that ) Its a shame he isn't in F1 anymore because he really is exciting to watch.
<Background>
Jean Alesi was born named Gianni as his Father was Italian but growing up in France meant he was teazed at an early age so his mother (French) renamed him Jean to keep the locals happy. His Father owned a car repair shop, where when Jean was 15 he did his work experience. After which Jean became obsessed with cars and had the idea of following his dads footsteps and start Racing.
Alesi's first experience of racing was in 1983 when he raced in the Renault 5 Turbo cup in France. Alesi secured one win and finished seventh in the championship, wasn't bad since he missed one race. ( And i must admit i...

Pro quality home recording at home on a budget
Review of Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire by
richb90
Advantages: Good value and flexible mixer, works well with PC. Cubase is a nice bonus.
Disadvantages: Knobs not sliders, no MP3 encoder with Cubase but these are minor details
...but this is only in case you want to connect a second PC.
KNOBS & DIALS
There are 4 shared inputs for either XLR(3 pin mic) or line(guitar style jack), each with it's own adjustable pre-amp and 75Hz high pass filter. There's also a phantom power switch at the back of the unit if you use studio condenser microphones that require +48V. The other 4 connections are two stereo line ins. Technically this only gives you 6 separate inputs (hence there are only 6 lines of knobs on the Alesis multimix 8) when it's a so called 8 track mixer but that's the way it goes I'm afraid. I know, I always found it confusing when my friend would tell me his 8 track could only record 4 simultaneous tracks and it's a throwback to the old tape multi-track systems.
Each of the 6 tracks (or channels) has it's own 3 band EQ (LOW 80Hz, MID 2.5kHz and HI 12kHz), two AUX...

Racing with his heart sets the heart racing
Review of Jean Alesi by
davidbuttery
Advantages: Not an automaton, great car control, rain ability
Disadvantages: Tends to make the wrong choices for his career
...couldn't even begin to imagine. He has superb car control, as evidenced by his sublime skills in the wet - an advantage negated by traction control, which allows a driver to plant his foot to the floor and to hell with finesse.
Jean Alesi is, at heart, a showman, who desperately wants to give the crowd - his people - value for money. That's a rare and precious thing in today's Grand Prix world, and we should enjoy it while it lasts. I believe he could have been champion had he signed for Williams in '91, but he chose to follow his heart. One thing I'm sure of: we'll notice the gap once he's gone.
*****************
Update - 12/10/01
*****************
And now, the end is near (etc). Jean has accepted that he's not going to get a drive next season (a decent one, anyway - Arrows might have been a possibility had continuing in F1 been...

Back to the top with Jordan
Review of Jean Alesi by
Gorman
Advantages: Very skilled
Disadvantages: Getting old
...and help Prost get better, I'm sure they will both get better with Frentzen and Frentzen will be pushing hard to prove he's still a top driver.
Alesi F1 career started great on his first race with Tyrell he got as high as second and finished fourth. He futher impressed by leading the US grand prix in Pheonix ahead of Senna, he even repassed Senna when Senna passed him but he didn't win. He had five great years and only managed to get one win at the Canadian grand prix.
Alesi's first year was very impressive he got a fourth in his first race and managed to get eight points in the championship. Then in 1990 he impressed even more when he was raceing Senna's Mclaren for first position at Pheonix. He also got a second at monaco and a sixth at Imola. After 1990 his brilliant season in 1990 all the big teams wanted him, he moved to ferrari...

Rain master
Review of Jean Alesi by
robertliu84
Advantages: Experienced driver
Disadvantages: Too experienced?
...Jean Alesi is currently the most experienced driver that is still racing in Formula One.
He is known to be a very good driver in the rain, but recently Prost hasn't really anabled Alesi to put in any good drives.
He seems like a nice fellow, and I quite liked the Ferrari dou for severl years, which included GEhard Berger and Jean Alesi.
A very experienced driver, but is he coming to the end of his racing career? I think he still has some time left, hopefully more competitive than right now. It would be nice to see Alesi right back up at the front.
If I'm correct, he's only won one race in his entire career, which was in canada. He should have won more, but still very good, and when he has a competitive car, he is regularly finding himself on the podium....

DOH. M1 Tibshelf services are Roadchef! SORRY!
Review of Welcome Break by
ginger59
Advantages: if you need to "go", then they are useful, Costa Coffee
Disadvantages: price, choice, not enough of them
...I always stop at this service station between junction 28 and 29 on the M1-not because I particularly like service stations, because I don't, but because it's the one service station I know that you can get a decent cup of coffee- Costa Coffee has a franchise on this site. I have driven past more than one other service station on a journey up or down the M1 to stop at this one, located near Nottingham.
These services are relatively new so they are not bad really in terms of the structure of the building and the facilities. Compared to some service stations, they are palatial.
The grounds are pleasant, and well lit at night so you can stop without fear of walking in an unlit carpark. Important especially if you are a woman. I like to feel safe. I have stopped here at 3 in the morning on the way down to London, and parked my car...
