Advantages: Good value and flexible mixer, works well with PC. Cubase is a nice bonus.
Disadvantages: Knobs not sliders, no MP3 encoder with Cubase but these are minor details

...'t mix down to MP3 format but you can mix down to WMA or WAV and there are plenty of free converters around. The recording quality is excellent and it's worth mentioning the Alesis records at 24-bit / 48kHz which is as good as some studios, by comparison normal CD quality is only 16-bit / 44kHz so it's higher sampling quality than CD. Signal to noise ratio also seems very good. CONSTRUCTION It's a fairly sturdy unit with metal top and bottom and thick plastic sides. It's well laid out with colour-coded knobs but then so are most mixers. How much punishment the smaller knobs can take remains to be seen but you'd probably have to be careful with it in live environment although they don't seem any flimsier than the ones on our PA. It is a pity the Alesis MultiMix 8 doesn't come with the cool, studio-style volume control sliders though...

Review of Alesis Multimix 8 Firewire

Handy but dull

Advantages: cheap, easy to use
Disadvantages: no effects limited sound editing, dull sounds

...The Alesis SR-16 holds the title of the best selling drum machine of all time and some would say with good reason. The sound quality that this machine can produce is excellent but the drawback is that the 230 odd sounds contained within the unit are uniformly dull and uninspiring. If you need a workhorse set of drum sounds for backing tracks etc then the SR16 will do the job in style but i would not recommend it to anyone who has any kind of imagination in their music. The operating system is fairly straightforward but some of the pattern editing is fairly cryptic if you don't have a manual, apart from that it's pretty easy to figure out whats going on. Ford Focus 1.6 Zetec

Advantages: A great car from all angles
Disadvantages: Not as many extras included as I would have liked

...I am now the proud owner of a ford focus 1.6 zetec and for the first time in many years I have actually found a car that pretty muc suits all my needs. I have spent many a time in cars that are too big, too small, not suitable, not comfortable etc but this is everything I could ask for. I own the three door version but the doors open widely and when the front seat is moved forward there is plenty of room to get anyone in the back, even my mother in law who is disabled. The back of this car is extremely spacious, comfortably fitting 3 large adults in. The boot size is deceiving in that it looks pretty small but is very spacious indeed. Perfect for all those shopping bags as well as a childs pushchair. The actual drive of this car is superb. Mine runs on unleaded and is very economical. I can get over 200 miles to £35...

Ford Focus 1.6 - Shocking!!
