I have been a big fan of UB40 since the age of 14yr and own some of their orginal albums on vinyl. For those too young to remember - those black things that came in 2 sizes 45" and 33" and when put onto a turn table played crackling, sorry cracking, sounds.
I was given this Album by one of my daughters who (due to being weened on the greatest Reggae bands of all time) is also a big fan.
We were both interested to see whether Ali's voice could be complimented by the featured artists as well as his fellow UB4O members.

The CD has been produced & mixed by Ali, who also sings lead vocals on all tracks (plus much of the backing vocals)

...I been to Mumbai number of times mostly on official errands, naturally had little time for sight-seeing and I regretted it most of the time, main reasons being my inherent weakness and curiosity about Muslim history and their curious propensity for excellent art work. ...Up until recently the Ali Tandori was the best Curry house in the city. Located down Magdalen Street it is in the ideal location for if you fancy a few quiet (and very cheap - well it is a Wetherspoons) drinks and then on for a late curry.
The Ali is the ideal place for loud, abnoxious groups that are out to try and destroy their guts by eating a ridiculously hot curry to earn respect from their mates. The Ali has this reputation and as such, people who go there are not expecting any different. So, it doesn't matter of you get a bit loud, the language gets a bit blue and the topic of conversation gets even bluer. The Ali is one curry house that is not suitable for children and families, couples on a romantic date, or small groups that are out for a quiet meal.
The decor is getting old and dated, but when out for a few jars...

...Respectpa! Ali G is one of Sacha Baron Cohen great creations. Martin Freeman co-stars as one of his possy. Brought up in east Staines Ali longs to be of black descent, but unfortunately isn't. Ali is a proud member of the John Nike leisure centre and when it is threatened to be closed down he says he will do anything to help.
This is possibly the funniest film I have ever seen, with hilarious language and some more than strange nude scenes. . Yes, it is sexist, crude and insome parts racist, but this is what makes it so appealing to comedy lovers.This film has a fantastic plot and is not as predictable as some other films of its genre.
This film has a certificate of 15 for a reason but for anyone, and I mean anyone above that will thoroughly enjoy it. Comedy lovers and even usual thriller audiences will com e to love this film...

...I am a big fan of Ali G I own all the videos and I find him consistently funny. However this was not the case in his first film (and hopefully his last) “Ali G In Da House.” Thankfully it was only one hour and ten minutes long.
The film starts with Ali (Barron Cohen) dreaming, he is in LA and fighting a gang, which he wins single-handedly. He wakes up living at home with “Me Nan,” who is shown for the first time here. Ali works in a community centre running a class showing kids how to survive on the street. When Ali is told that they are going to close the community centre down he decides to protest to save it single-handedly, by this he chains himself to the railings. His enemies “The Eastside Posse” spot him and strip him, he then becomes unwillingly involved in a sexual act involving a blind man...
Advantages: Gives insight into the life of ALI Disadvantages: None, really
...WILL SMITH is an excellent actor. I can see why he was nominated for an academy award as a lead actor. I had a hard time thinking he was not ALI. He had the walk, the talk and the mannerisms
I remember very little about ALI except that he was a great boxer. All my memories of him are recent. When I think of ALI, I think of the man whose body is riddled with a crippling disease. A man who has trouble walking. Not the determined, arrogant, but seemingly gentle man portrayed in this movie. I vaguely remember him not going in to the Army, and thought him just another draft-dodger. I did not understand his disgust at killing when he seemed so violent in the ring.
The movie takes you through ALI’s early life. His first fight in the ring as Cassius Clay, his conversion to the Nation of Islam. His friendship with Malcolm...

Review of Ali G - Aiii (DVD)
Advantages: Simply beautiful Disadvantages: Beggars with crying children
...When i went to India last year, i visited the Haji Ali Mosque as i was sightseeing in Bombay. It i slocated in the Arabian sea so therefore can only be visited when the tide is low.
It is quite a long walk upto the actual mosque as everyone is briefly searched before entering. There are many stalls on the path which sell flower wreaths that can be placed on the tomb, jewellery and souvenirs. These can all be bought along with refreshments for very cheap prices.
When i first entered the mosque i put a scarf over my head as a sign of respect.
There is a separate part for girls and boys and men can make their prayers. This is thought to be a sign of huge respect and is considered very holy.
I also made a short prayer in my head as it is said that whatever you wish for whilst inside the mosque will come true.
The atmosphere is unusual...

...Now before I start this review i would like to make it clear that Iam a fan Of Muhammad Ali, as a sports man.
This film directed by Micahel Mann ( Heat ) , has great potential. Mann is a superb director whos work I hold in high regard. This is a superbly made film ,the fight scenes are just like watching the real thing. But the film falls down between these action packed sequences. Ali is an extremley interesting person, whos life has taken many twists and turns, and to try to cram all this into one film was always going to be a struggle.
Smith is superb as Ali, he looks, walks and talks just like the great man.
But However interesting Ali's life may have been Mann still manages to slow the film down to a snails pace. This leaves the viewer hanging on to the next fight while the narrative creeps along.
Its understandable that...

Advantages: funny parody Disadvantages: a bit over the top
...So you thought Borat was the most hilarious film you have ever seen and would like more of the same kind? I guess the first thing you do is to check what previous movies that genius actor, Sasha Cohen Baron, has participated in and take a look at them. At least that is what I did when I ended up with this dvd in my hands.
Before Sasha became the great Kazakhstani reporter Borat he had made a great carrier with his Ali G character. Ali G even had an own show, Ali G show, where he interviewed people as Ali G who was a wannabe gangster, Borat a sex crazy foreigner and Bruno who is a gay that work within fashion industry (Sasha's followup to Borat will be based on the Bruno character),
The basic story line behind this movie is relatively simple. The government decide to close Ali's local community centre. Ali G must do something about...
Advantages: Funny for first timers (like me!) Disadvantages: Not long enough!
...Ok, I admit it - I've never really been into Ali G and only went to placate my boyfriend (Sorry A!). But, as we'd planned to go and see a film I agreed that Ali G would be the one (personally, as a primary teacher, Ice Age was more my choice). From the first moment the film started, when Ali came onto screen and changed the rating of the film, I thought it might not be so bad after all. Then, with a gangster-style dream sequence and a sneeky-peek of Ali's huge "dong", I knew I was alright - I was in for a good laugh. Though I must say, both my bloke and I wondered how they could keep up the laughs throughout the film, after all, only a few minutes had passed and the theatre had already erupted with belly-laughs. How could the film makers keep this up? Could they manage it?
The answer is a resounding YES! With Me Julie's babylons, Naomi...
