...Respectpa! Ali G is one of Sacha Baron Cohen great creations. Martin Freeman co-stars as one of his possy. Brought up in east Staines Ali longs to be of black descent, but unfortunately isn't. Ali is a proud member of the John Nike leisure centre and when it is threatened to be closed down he says he will do anything to help. This is possibly the funniest film I have ever seen, with hilarious language and some more than strange nude scenes. . Yes, it is sexist, crude and insome parts racist, but this is what makes it so appealing to comedy lovers.This film has a fantastic plot and is not as predictable as some other films of its genre. This film has a certificate of 15 for a reason but for anyone, and I mean anyone above that will thoroughly enjoy it. Comedy lovers and even usual thriller audiences will com e to love this film...

Ali G In Da House

Advantages: some parts are mildly amusing

...I am a big fan of Ali G I own all the videos and I find him consistently funny. However this was not the case in his first film (and hopefully his last) “Ali G In Da House.” Thankfully it was only one hour and ten minutes long. The film starts with Ali (Barron Cohen) dreaming, he is in LA and fighting a gang, which he wins single-handedly. He wakes up living at home with “Me Nan,” who is shown for the first time here. Ali works in a community centre running a class showing kids how to survive on the street. When Ali is told that they are going to close the community centre down he decides to protest to save it single-handedly, by this he chains himself to the railings. His enemies “The Eastside Posse” spot him and strip him, he then becomes unwillingly involved in a sexual act involving a blind man...

Before Borat there was Ali G

Advantages: funny parody

...So you thought Borat was the most hilarious film you have ever seen and would like more of the same kind? I guess the first thing you do is to check what previous movies that genius actor, Sasha Cohen Baron, has participated in and take a look at them. At least that is what I did when I ended up with this dvd in my hands. Before Sasha became the great Kazakhstani reporter Borat he had made a great carrier with his Ali G character. Ali G even had an own show, Ali G show, where he interviewed people as Ali G who was a wannabe gangster, Borat a sex crazy foreigner and Bruno who is a gay that work within fashion industry (Sasha's followup to Borat will be based on the Bruno character), The basic story line behind this movie is relatively simple. Ali G - a girl's view

Advantages: Funny for first timers (like me!)
Disadvantages: Not long enough!

...Ok, I admit it - I've never really been into Ali G and only went to placate my boyfriend (Sorry A!). But, as we'd planned to go and see a film I agreed that Ali G would be the one (personally, as a primary teacher, Ice Age was more my choice). From the first moment the film started, when Ali came onto screen and changed the rating of the film, I thought it might not be so bad after all. Then, with a gangster-style dream sequence and a sneeky-peek of Ali's huge "dong", I knew I was alright - I was in for a good laugh. Though I must say, both my bloke and I wondered how they could keep up the laughs throughout the film, after all, only a few minutes had passed and the theatre had already erupted with belly-laughs. Ali G - Hilarious

Advantages: Extremely Funny
Disadvantages: Not Suitable For Children

...Ali G is one of the new series being shown on channel 4 late at night, it is a hilarious show with the presenter (called Ali G) interviewing high status people such as mohammed al fied. The thing that makes this show so funny is the difference in status between the people, Ali G uses words which they do not understand. I am afraid the show is shown very late at night because of its content, this show is not recommended to children. There are lots of shows in the series, and all are funny, I suggest if you can, watch it....

Bring back Ali G

Advantages: Brilliantly stupid, lots of laughs,
Disadvantages: Might be offensive to some

...There were nights I laughed so hard, I hurt. I could barely breathe, I was just giggling away like someone on laughing gas. Laughing at Ali G. Yes I can see that some people might find his character offensive, but that was the whole idea, this over-the-top creation destined to make fun of everyone. Haven't we English always done this kind of thing with such aplomb and managed to laugh at ourselves without people taking offence? I must admit, some of his guests probably wondered whether they were in the land of the white rabbit sometimes. They probably felt more like prisoners in a madhouse than guests on a tv show, but if they watched the show, they'd know what they were in for. Mohammed Al Fayed did it with great aplomb. Joined in the whole spirit of the thing and had a good laugh at himself in the process. No offence taken...

Ali G Bling Bling

Advantages: Interview with David and Victoria Beckham, 35 minutes of previously unreleased interviews
Disadvantages: A bit the same, and some interviews are too long

...My boyfriend bought me this DVD as a spur of the moment present. I've never been a big Ali G fan but I did watch it and found some of it quite amusing. The DVD includes 'over 30 minutes of brand new material; previously unreleased American interviews, plus 25 minutes of Barat' which is all well and good but I got the impression from watching it, that it was previously unreleased because it really isn't all that funny. I understand that his jokes aren't to everyone's humour but at times I felt his interviews went on too long and instead of being a comedian, at times he looked more like a bully. One thing which I did find hilarious was the David and Victoria Beckham Red Nose day interview. You've got to give him credit there, he asked just the right questions to get them confused and saying things they wished they hadn't. In my opinion...

AT ONE STAGE IT WAS JUST A HANDFUL OF PEOPLE THAT KNEW OF ALI G BEFORE THAT ALI G INNIT VIDEO WAS RELEASED, THEN SUDDENLY EVERYONE IS GOING AROUND SHOUTIN 'SELECTA' AND 'INNIT', I AM AFRAID THE SAME TH ING WILL HAPPEN TO RICKY GERVAIS WHO ALSO HAD A SEGMENT IN THE 11 O'CLOCK SHOW AND HAS NOW GOT HIS OWN SHOW ON CHANNEL 4 WHICH CONVINIENTLY IS IN THE SAME SLOT AS DA ALI G SHOW. BIG IT UP FOR ALI G

Advantages: Funny and adult orientated.
Disadvantages: bit too old for kids

...I remember once sitting on the bus and i overheard a conversation and they were talking about the Ali G show. By the sound of things it was very interesting and funny so as i returned home sure enough it was in The Tv guide and i decided to watch it. This nite he was interviewing Mohamed Alfayed. When i watched the show i found it very funny. The way he spoke to Mo as a normal person and treated him with respect and the way Mo reacted and did the rap along with Ali. It was 1st class. Ali definately deserved a award for this show which he narrowly missed out on to Michael Barrymore. Big it up Ali but i bought your video and DVD so not so much injustice eh. watch it and you will see what i mean....

The brainchild of Oxford graduate Sacha Baron Cohen first appeared on the 11 oclock show. It soon became apparent to all that he was the only reason to watch it. This was picked up on by channel 4 bosses and he was given his own show. Respect! The show comprises of Ali mainly interviewing guests and basically taking the piss out of them.
