Dell 725 color printer

Advantages: fast
Disadvantages: does not print in true black ink color

...This printer has NEVER printed in true (or even close...) black "color". Contacting Dell support, I was told "your printer is no longer under warranty", so they would not even offer assistance. I never used it much (it was bundled with the laptop), so now when I needed it for a project, it is very disappointing that it does not work. I have downloaded and installed the "latest" driver (from 2006!) and that still did not help. I re-ran the printers test pattern and head cleaner, and no black ever printed. The test pattern is blue, pink, yellow and brownish-green. Given other's comments here about the black being a greenish-grey, I would never buy another single-cartridge printer again. I would definitely suggest you purchase a printer that has a dedicated black cartridge. Fast speed accounts for nothing if the colors are screwy!...

Colourful Printer

Advantages: Quality results in colour, support (when you get hold of them)
Disadvantages: Loud when in use, a bit bulky

...toner is left per colour, though it is only a guideline. It warns you when it is about to run out of a particular toner. After a while, the printer won?t print until you change the empty toner cartridge. As for the print server, this is very basic. It actually stopped working after the warranty expired (how do these little boxes know these things) but as I have another print server (see my NAS review for that) I didn?t replace it. The printer has a USB connection, which is used to connect to the print server, though you can easily connect it to the computer directly (just remember to change the driver settings accordingly). * The Overall Cost * Buying replacement cartridges cost me £80 each (£320 for all four), though the price has been lowered now to around £60 if you look around. Dell Color Printer 725

Advantages: Cheap, Easy to use, relatively fast
Disadvantages: Only takes Colour Cartridges, not a viable option for regular printing

...I got the printer bundled in free with a Laptop, and its very bare bones. My biggest problem with it is that it only takes colour cartridges. This means to produce black ink documents, usually what most people print out, it mixes 2 colours to produce a black effect. It never quite manages it and your prints will look sort of greeny grey. Also, at £15 a cartridge from Dell, it seems quite alot to pay. The printer has a reasonable speed for home use and is easy to use, although the Dell software is quite intrusive when printing and sometimes I wish it would go away. The product is suited for light home use, although due to the fact that there is no single black ink cartridge there are much better printers out there for arguably a more reasonable price. Fast colour printer

Advantages: Great Quality
Disadvantages: NOT WITH VISTA

...holds four cartridges - magenta - cyan - yellow- black Quality: the quality is excellent - i am used to a different type of colour printer, at home i use a slow colour printer, and when i see how fast this one is cant be bothered using my one at home. Big difference in quality also, no matter what type of paper you use. I have used this printer on thin paper and thick paper and ridged paper, and the quality is still unbeatable. The cartridges can be purchased online for about £40 per cardridge colour and is easily placed inside the printer. However i have heard that this printer is not compatible with Windows Vista even with drivers, so i would be careful if you are on vista, i am using xp and works brilliant. Good quality bargian printer

...people who have previously owned a printer that required a USB cable will fit that they have one kicking around the house. As for speed of printing, to be honest, it's not too bad, it's not lightening fast like a laser printer, but it is faster than a lot of the older inkjet printers, and it's quite quiet as well. The only thing that can be a little disconcerting is that it prints upside down and last page first (although this can probably be changed in the settings somewhere, I haven't tried to change it). You just need to remember that when printing labels or envelopes, or they'll all come out upside down! The print quality of the printer is very good as well, even with a refilled cartridge. ...Ok we bought our computer in 2000 and it was a package deal with printer, scanner etc and the printer was a Lexmark it was a fantastic printer. Then last year it started playing up and not printing correctly but as we never used the printer all that much at that time we really never bothered and it done the trick for my son printing out some of his pictures. One day we were in ASDA and we noticed they had the Lexmark Z23e on sale at £29.99, I had to look twice, as I didn't realise this item could be so cheap I think it was mainly to do with the printer we had was part of a package so I never really gave its price a second thought. The good thing about it is that it doesn't take up much space at all, it is 5.1" high, 8.1" deep and 17.5" wide, although you have to make sure there is plenty of room for the paper to come out at other...

I have never really needed to print much (only the occasional essay or B-day card), so I decided to go for this cheap Dell 720 photo printer. Cheap Compact Colour Printer

Advantages: Cheap, reliable, easy to use, suitable for PC and Mac.
Disadvantages: USB cable not supplied, expensive ink cartridges.

..., on reflection, if you work at home, it's probably the only "person" you may hear all day so it isn't that unwelcome. (Sad or what?) Running Costs = The initial outlay, beyond the printer itself, will be a USB cable - the printer comes with a power cable and software. It seems to accept most types of paper, so you may please yourself as to what weight you choose to use. You will probably find that your printer comes with a free cartridge but you should probably buy a couple yourself; you must get both black and colour cartridges. Annoyingly enough, you can't seem to get generic compatible cartridges, so you must shell out for Lexmark cartridges which are shockingly expensive.
