Allen Carr's Easyway to Stop Smoking

Advantages: It really will help you to stop!
Disadvantages: There aren't any!!

...didnt want to be one of those people who gives up just to start again in five days! It was at this time that I was given the book and as I started to read it - it really made sense! What Allen tells you about one cigarette leading to another really hit home with me - the common sense of it all is fantastic - why was I blinded for all those years - did I not realise that by smoking one cigarette it was going to lead me to smoke another!! I think the main theme of the book is that it makes you realise that you do have a choice - when you are craving a cigarette it is not because you really want one - it is just the nicotine in your system wanting a top up! I don't really want to go into more detail about the ins and outs of Mr Carr's theories - on that score the book speaks for itself - it allowed me to give up on my first attempt...

Stop smoking the Allen Carr way!

Advantages: Frees you from that awful smelling weed!
Disadvantages: None!!

...would feel dizzy. But without realising what i had done......fed the bug!.....I would light up again. I would think i'll never get addicted to this again as it tastes so bad! Nicotine is so powerful that irrelevant of taste (like the first cig you ever smoked-makes you want to heave) that little monster in your tummy is ignited again!! It was a friend who reccomended Allen Carrs Easy Way book. I had already decided i was going to stop smoking at new year. I went out and bought the book £8.99 from WHSmiths, and began to read. Now i'm not going to go into detail of the books contents as that would not be fair. I wouldn't want to take the intrigue away from those people who want to stop smoking - you must buy it and read it through from start to finish. All i will say is that the book is a very informative read. We all have our vices...

Advantages: I am a non-smoker, need I say more?
Disadvantages: None - just wish I'd read it sooner!

...I wrote this review on 1st December, having been 6 months smoke-free. I am now updating it since tomorrow (1st June) is the 1st anniversary of my husband and I stopping smoking. It has been a really good year, and I just wish I?d done it sooner. Although I don?t want to sound cocky, stopping smoking really was so easy after reading Allen Carr?s ?Easy Way to Stop Smoking? book. I realise that everyone?s experience with smoking and stopping smoking is different, and what's easy to me might not be easy to others. However, I am writing this in the hope that it prompts someone to read the book, and that it changes their life as it has mine. "I'll stop smoking on Monday"

Advantages: Makes you see smoking for what it really is.
Disadvantages: You get left with a peculiar feeling, you CAN'T smoke, though that might be a good thing.

...That's what I used to say nearly every day, "I'll stop smoking on Monday". I meant it too, but people used to laugh, "yeah yeah" they'd say. Now I know why I said that. And why a lot of people say that, it's because we were afraid of quitting. Of course we are, we've been brainwashed into believing we need to smoke. But more about that later. I read the book "The Easy Way to Stop Smoking" by Allen Carr only last night. I smoked my last cigarette at 2am this morning and have so far been stopped for 17 hours and 22 minutes. You all may ask why I'm writing this op so soon, shouldn't I wait to see if I can stop first, before I write a review of the book? Well, no. Because one thing about Allen Carr is that he promises it will be easy, that it is the EASY WAY. Therefore if I wait a few weeks/months or whatever, how can I then truly recall...

20 a day smoker stops with no withdrawal symptoms

Advantages: To many to mention, better health, saved money, better quality of life and total FREEDOM
Disadvantages: Search though I did, I could find no disadvantage

..., I didn't feel patronised or condescended to and as I went through the book it became more and more obvious to me that *this* time, I was going to stop. Allen Carr's methodology is simple, he just tells it like it is.....you aren't actually 'quitting' or 'giving up' because to use that language reinforces the belief that you are sacrificing something when you become a non smoker, and you aren't....the benefits are huge, you're actually gaining something, your total freedom from the slavery of nicotine and an improvement of the life you already have. Since the ritual of the final cigarette, I haven't touched a cigarette once, I've had no pangs, no withdrawal symptoms and no trouble whatsoever, I was a little nervous upon my first visit to a pub (always the place where I'd gone back to smoking in the past) but I passed the test...

Allen Carr´s Easy Way - Works a treat!

Advantages: Really Works, Health & Happiness
Disadvantages: Nothing, altho book is repetitive but this is the key

...With the fast approaching smoking in public places ban, i decided i would quit smoking before 1st July 2007, so i had this date in mind and a friend recommended the Allen Carr book to me. i got started and within a week i'd done it! i read this book a month and a half ago and even during the week i was reading the book - i only smoked 2 cigarettes (including my final one which i only smoked half of), although the author says to continue to smoke, i really couldn't do it. i am very sceptical and not very easily persuaded, along with this i have a psychology degree so have a greater insight into the techniques used in the book, all the same the book was fantastic, although not an amazing well written or fun to read book, it does the job it was written for. my friend who recommended the book to me hasn't smoked for over 4 months after...

Gone in a puff of smoke

Advantages: This book has saved loadsa money, I no loger smell, and I can do stuff without a dependancy on a little white stick.
Disadvantages: The author insists that smoking is not habitual - I'm still not 100% sure about this

Excellent Program that avoids NRT

Advantages: Chaning your mindset makes any mild cravings a small irritation rather than a big problem
Disadvantages: Slightly Smug in places

...feel a little annoyed at yourself for 'letting it happen' - and as soon as you reach that point, then you are well on the way to stopping smoking. It's described as the EASY WAY as the idea behind it is almost empowering - rather than moping around saying/thinking 'I really need a cigarette, I'm gasping for a cigarette' etc. you simply have to change your mindset - decide to 'escape' from this cycle of addiction and enjoy your new richer, healthier life. I focussed on the extra cash that I would have as well as the health benefits and it worked. Definitely worth a look, for even the most hardened smoker. Dr Carr can come across as a little smug at points - but to be fair, he has every right to - this is an excellent program to use to stop smoking.
