...Earlier in the year, I had the opportunity to visit the islands of Hawaii. There, I flew between Oahu and the Big Island on Aloha airlines. A short background Small airline that service mainly the islands of Hawaii. Recently has started flights with several cities on the west coast of USA as well as Vancouver. Service several pacific islands such as Christmas islands, Johnston islands etc. My experience = As usual, we arrived early at the check-in counter of the Aloha airline section of the Honolulu airport. Check-in process was very efficient and within minutes, we had our boarding passes. ...ALOHA FROM HAWAII is the soundtrack CD for the television special Elvis made in January 1973. The show was the first ever music concert broadcast live around the world via satellite, and was watched by an audience of over 1 billion people. The show was a fund-raising benefit to raise money for the Kui Lee Cancer Fund and amazingly the event raised over 3 times the estimate, making $75,000 for the fund. Although this sounds small for an event of this kind in this day and age, in 1973 this was a huge sum, and very surprising. The 25th anniversary CD features the full concert from 14 January 1973, and in addition it features a bonus 5 songs Elvis recorded after the concert, which were added to the US broadcast version of the show. ...Disney's Polynesian Resort Welcome to Disney's version of Waikiki and aloha! Disney's Polynesian Resort is one of the few original resorts that has been present in the world (of the Walt Disney Variety) since it first opened in 1970s. Tropical palm tress, grass skirts and a few pineapple juices welcome you to the wonderfully tropical world of the Polynesian resort hotel! Aloha! The rooms are arranged in blocks and one little known fact is that the rooms were all assembled and completed off site and then literally 'slotted' into the frames that were built in their current locations! The reception area is fantastic in this hotel with lush exotic plants and flowers everywhere as well as a running water fountain. Advantages: Great dive school and great sites to visit
Disadvantages: Limassol is not the nicest area in Cyprus

...Prior to arriving in Limassol my husband and I starting trawling the net for diving schools in the Limassol area and after communicating by e-mail with several of them we decided to book up with Aloha Divers. They told us that when we arrived we could call them and they'd come and pick us up from our hotel but we managed to find them quite easily ourselves. They are situated in the tourist area of Potamos Yermasoyias on the main road, beside the Pizza Hut. They do special prices for dive packs of either 4 or 8 dives. We ended up doing 12 dives plus 2 on the Zenobia wreck. We paid approximately 12 Cypriot Pounds per dive (we had our own kit) except for the 2 dives on the Zenobia which cost £C50 and included transport to Larnaca and a buffet lunch on the dive boat. ...don't remember much about the airport but do remember flying with Aloha Airlines, which is Hawaiis national Airline. I knew that Hawaii were USA states and expected the flight to last a couple of hours at the most. In realtity it took 5 hours to get to the first Island we were visting, Kauai. We landed at Lihue Airport, the only Airport on Kauai. The airport was very different from any others I had been to before. It was very small and had just one belt for the luggage. It was more of a 'shack' than an airport. When we got off the plane, we were greeted by some Hawaiian girl who placed a 'lei' - a necklace of flowers around our necks. This was a great welcome and is a great example of how friendly the Hawaiian people are. Kauai is the oldest and fourth largest of the six Hawaiian Island. The Island is home to the longest river... Advantages: Pure Elvis (the first live global satellite broadcast in history !)

...Elvis was away making the movies that he had been contracted to complete. By 1973 Elvis's popularity was reaching new heights and he was asked to perform in a charity concert in Hawaii. The concert named 'Aloha from Hawaii' was performed in front of a packed audience and beamed out by satellite to billions of homes worldwide on January 14th 1973.(The concert actually received more viewings than Neil Armstrong's moon landing.) Elvis had already started wearing his famous white stage costumes which he is usually remembered for,but usually as fat and unattractive in a tight white suit, sorry none of that, Elvis was looking good. The white suit that he wore is remembered by fans as the 'Eagle Suit' and he also wore a matching cape. Advantages: Drew Barrymore, easy to watch.
Disadvantages: Characterisation, cheap gags, some stereotypes.

...numbers with a few more up to date songs thown in for good measure but on the whole, quite unremarkable. Overall, I do have to say that I did enjoy the film, however it really wasn’t that memorable which is quite ironic when you consider the films major plot theme was memory loss! If only they had not went for the cheap gags, put a bit more effort into making it feel Hawaiian and had a bit better characterisation, it would have been a lot better. I have given the film 3 stars and do recommend it as a good film to watch with your brain turned off! Aloha people! drew... Read review

The agency was responding to the April 28 accident in which an Aloha Airlines 737 landed miraculously in Maui, Hawaii, after an 18-ft. section of the fuselage tore away, like the canvas roof on a convertible, while the plane was going 330 m.p.h. at 24,000 ft. Though Pilot Robert Schornstheimer made the best of a terrible situation, the incident killed one flight attendant and injured 61 passengers. Many of them were struck by chunks of metal and insulation that kept peeling off the plane during its frightening descent.
