Sony alpha A100
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100W by
DarkNights
Advantages: Stlish digital slr
Disadvantages: sony customer service
...At first glance the sony alpha a100 feals slightyly plastickly, but this is partly due to the fact that the body itself is made out of plastic, never the less the sony a100 is a fantastic digital sslr for the first time photograhper.
Although it is slightly dissapointing that sony has not made a vertical grip for this product, overall the smooth shiny feal to the sony alpha a100, feals nice, and the shutter button fits snugguly into your right hand, however the camera is exceptional, but the custumer service is dreadful, when i accidently smashed my sony alpha 3 days after purchasing it, i was devistated, but not to worry, i was soon on to sony, and was relieved that there was a set price of £114 but i had to forck out a lumply sum of £360 to get it fixed.
There isnt realy a fixed price and the level of custumer service...

Sony Alpha 100 Digital SLR
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100W by
wifrid
Advantages: ease of use,good design
Disadvantages: lack of cover for preview screen
...I recently purchased the sony a 100 for two reasons the first being that I could use my existing lenses, and secondly the price at about £400 I thought was quite reasonable.
although I have only used it for about two weeks I was really impressed when I took a picture in a cave with only ambient light, something that would have been virtually impossible with a film camera.
The camera is fairly light it weighs about the same as a slr film camera. It is compatible with most minolta lenses. But check first with sony at their website.
The design is good it sits well in the hand your finger naturally falls on to the shutter button. The lcd screen is large and clear although i am worried that this could be damaged easily, but i am sure you can get a cover for this, this will be my next purchase.
The battery lasts for about 750 shots mine...

a new piece of work from sony
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-H50B by
razzda
Advantages: state-of-the-art optics, big tilting screen, optical stabilizer, face&smile detection
Disadvantages: awkward jog dial, lens hood ridiculously big
...Just bought the H50 several days ago. Having had the H1 for some years, this was a natural move for me - I trust the quality and the longevity of Sony products, and when I saw the H50 advertised with all its benefits, I knew it was the best upgrade for me.
I am impressed with it, to say the least. The camera is as I expected and more. Compared with H1, it's sleeker, easier to work with, smarter in terms of menu and options. It's also very intelligent and intuitive, with numerous presets and creative modes. Sony have also made a clever decision bringing some of their Alpha line features into this camera.
There are a lot of qualities in the H50, but these make in my opinion the top of the list:
1. LCD screen - it's bright, big (3 inches) and tilting. It tilts only up and down (not left and right), which is still perfect for taking...

SONY DSCR1 does it beat DSLRs at similar price?
Review of Sony Cyber-shot DSC-R1 by
executivedistributor
Advantages: Fantastic pictures, features, battery life, memory stick AND CF, battery life, no dust, moveable LCD.
Disadvantages: Size, timer button (see review below), cant swap lenses.
...My name is Alan Paterson from East Kilbride in Scotland and I purchased my Sony DSC R1 in January 2007. I was a bit reluctant purchasing the Sony DSC R1. Although I had read excellent reviews on this camera, the sales assistant tried to persuade me to go for the new Sony Alpha DSLR instead (or any other SLR for that matter). I'm glad I didn't listen to him. This camera is superb. I photograph stills (mostly bouquets and fruit baskets) for gift delivery web sites. I have to say that I was more than pleased with the results of the DSC R1.
I especially liked the LCD display. This is not a normal LCD. Fantastic and innovative idea. No more crouching or kneeling on the floor to get the best angles. The display rotates and twists and can be viewed at any angle.
The automatic White Balance settings were also excellent and produced the exact...

Good starter lens
Review of Sony SAL1870 Zoom lens by
jtamagnini
Advantages: standard zoom kit lens, KM compatible
Disadvantages: some darkening at widest angle
...This is the standard lens that comes with the new Sony Alpha 100 digital SLR camera (dSLR).
It fits on to a the Sony a-mount or for those who have one of the old Konica Minolta Dynax camera, it will fit in the KM-mount. However it is a digital only lens so film purists will not be served well by it.
Taking photos with this lens using the Sony camera is a dodle. The auto-focus or manual is done on the camera body so the lens only has two controls and those are lens length and manual focus if you are using it that way.
The lens length is a large ring control in the centre which is of smooth operation with just enough resistance so you don't knock it accidently but not so much where movements could be jerky. Auto-focus is fast and very reliable but not as quiet as some would like, certainly not one for stealth operation!
Manual focus...

psb alpha sub zero
Review of PSB Alpha Zero Active Subwoofer by
silverspooninmouth
Advantages: vibrant, active deep
Disadvantages: balance can be difficult with your others speakers, just takes time to adjust
...Wow. i bought this item to replace a sony subwoofer that was a passive unit. the passive unit was ok but did not have the full depth that i wanted. this arrived and whoops it has the depth alright. a massive amount in comparison. fantastic. i linked it up with my Sony AV receiver and bam it filled the room. and vibrated the floor and upset the dogs. it has a large range of adjustment too. the connections on the rear are easy to access. the appearance is good and does not intrude. just remember buy a long mono phone bacle so you can place the unit in the correct part of the room. this when in full flow places you in the movie rather than somewhere near it like many of the passive units. go for an active PSB it is excellent...

Sony DSLR A-100W - Beautiful Pictures, Great Value
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100W by
bananamanuk
Advantages: Build & Picture Quality, Battery life, Brand
Disadvantages: Shutter sound, manual
...OVERVIEW
I have always been interested in video editing and photography since I find that I can use these hobbies in combination with my other interests. I’ve always strived for the best quality, but, that usually comes with expense.
The digital camera market is quite a complex one, because there are literally hundreds of cameras available across a huge range of prices. I have been using digital cameras for a number of years now, and in May 2007, I decided to take the plunge and get a Digital SLR camera. I took the decision to go for the Sony A100 Alpha and the following is my review and recommendation.
Please note that my review is an overall purchasing and general review rather than a full blown technical evaluation, this is because I am not a photography expert and there are numerous web reviews that go into the minute details...

Enter the Sony!
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A350K by
thebigc1690
Advantages: Packed with extras, looks good and feels good.
Disadvantages: See review for the very minor con`s.
....
Puting those minor blemmishes aside this camera remains one of the best introductory DSLR`s I have used and I would happily shout from the rafters about it to anyone who was willing to listening. Compared to previous models the A350 is way better than the A100 and slightly better than the A200 and 300 so it was definitely worth bringing out, compared to other manufacturers in the same price range it is very competitive and has given me better images than most so I think Sony is going to be the next big thing in the world of DSLR cameras and it is certainly the one I will be recommending to people for the foreseeable future.
WHATS IN THE BOX
Sony Alpha DSLR-A350 Body
NP-FM500H rechargeable battery
BC-VM10 battery charger
Video and USB cables
Shoulder strap with eyepiece cap and Remote Commander clip
Body cap
Software/USB Driver CD-ROM
Thanks...

Canon and Nikon now have a heavyweight rival
Review of Sony a (alpha) DSLR-A100W by
jtamagnini
Advantages: Good for big hands, lots of controls, great starter kit, takes Konica/Minolta lenses
Disadvantages: not for people who want to take snaps
...Many Konica Minolta (KM) SLR owners will have despaired at the beginning of the year when they stopped producing SLRs to concentrate on business copiers. Despair no more!
Sony who was already thinking of entering the SLR market and producing parts for Nikon (like the sensors) and collaborating with KM was wise enough to buy the expertise and engineering facilities that would have otherwise been wasted...
I should explain that SLR stands for "single lens reflex". The camera operates through the viewfinder so you cannot see the picture on the screen until it has been taken. It is aimed at the enthusiast like me or pro markets. Sony already has good reputation for their consumer snap happy cameras but this is a different kettle of fish.
The Sony is a brand new camera that is not re-inventing the wheel. The body is almost the same...

Jessops store, sale and service
Review of Jessops (Shop) by
nickdirtyd
Advantages: Price matching, friendly knowledgable staff
Disadvantages: Some smaller stores lack product range (although larger stores are usually within local proximity)
...After deciding it was time to upgrade my compact digital camera to make the transition to the world of digital SLR's, I began hunting the most appropriate camera and place to purchase it.
I regurlarly use the internet as it is most often cheaper (I'm really the product of an ever growing lazy society) so this is where I set out to look.
After reading numerous reviews and comparisons I had decided on the particular camera I intended to purchase, so now it was a case of finding, not the cheapest, but place of purchase offering the most value.
I managed to find a few websites offering the camera of my choice (the Sony Alpha 100 - review to follow) at mind blowing ridiculously low prices, some of which actually unnerved me at the thought of purchasing via them.
Anyway after finding a site that had a great low price, (but at the same...
