Altec Lansing UHP 306
Advantages: Great sound quality, strong cord, carry case
Disadvantages: Price
...After my Sennheiser CX 300's snapped a friend gave me his Altec Lansings.
At first they did take some getting used to as they are bigger than the CX 300s, I would prefer them slightly smaller. Background noise isn't a problem but initially you may find the silicone tips take a bit of wiggling about to get them to fit exactly if you want them to block out all background noise. You'll get used to the positioning very quickly so it won't be a problem for long. The noise isolation level is 16dB which as far as I'm aware is more than those of the CX 300 which I think is around 12dB. If you need more than 16dB there's also a Professional set which have a noise isolation level of 26dB and generally higher spec.
The cable is a cloth cable making the durability greater. The earphones also come with a pouch to store them in and several sets...

Altec 5100
Advantages: Clear Crisp Sound (CCS) and Ultra Stylish
Disadvantages: Cable is too short
...though they were £10 more expsensive than the Creative Branded ones, Altec Lansing is a better company and actually make their own speakers. Unike creative and logitech who just brand stuff (WHITE LABEL)
The box itself weighs about 10kg or less, and all speakers and wrapped well in plastic bags, and surrounded by polystyrene.
The dimension of the units are as follows;
2.25" W x 2.5" D x 7.3 H Satellite
6.4" W x 1.9" D x 2.6" H Center Speaker
The above satellites have two 1" neodymium micro drivers.
6.5" W x 13.5" D x 12.0 H Subwoofer
Two 4" Long-Throw Woofers
Each item in the box feels like it is well made, and also very strong. Not Platicky Plastiky.
Also included is a Neat looking Controller (wire Unfortunately) But it has the following
'Power On/Off, Mode selctor, Master, Center and Surround...

More Like a Hi-Fi With a PC Tacked On
Advantages: Snazzy design. Very compact. Excellent sound
Disadvantages: Quite expensive just for PC use. No other inputs limit their application
...a deterrent to using them as some kind of minimalist hi-fi. I believe Altec-Lansing do make a ?5 channels + 1? version for those with home cinema and a lack of lounge space.
For my part, I?m tempted to see how they sound in the lounge as pure stereo speakers.
All in all, very good sound and an impressive design and build quality from a respected company with many years in the audio business....

Altec Lansing MX5021 PC multimedia speaker system
Advantages: GOOD LOOKS, QUALITY AND FLEXIBILITY
Disadvantages: ?
...Well what can i say about the MX5021 they are just absolute class. As you can see they look the part and i promise you they sound the part, with 2 monitors, each with 2 mid-range and 1 tweete they are going to sound the part. With a massive sub-woofer which can knock you to the other side of the room you will not be let down.
The MX5021 are very flexible with lengthy wires, remote control and compatibility with PCs, DVD players, TV's and also stereos.
The system comprise of 2x 30ft cables for the speakers so can place speakers in good postions. The control module has volume, bass and treble conrols with aux in and headphone jack all in 1 plus combined that with a remote crontrol very well thought out.
Whether it is watchin DVD's,playing games on your PC or even watchin TV the THX certified MX5021 are an absolute bargin.
A must...

Awesome sounding combined with excellent looks
Advantages: Trendy looks, Excellend sound/build quality
Disadvantages: Perhaps the remote control
...Altecs 2100 is a 2.1 speaker system (2 speakers, 1 subwoofer)
In the box you get 2 x Satellite speakers, 1 x Subwoofer, 1 x Wired Remote Control with stand, all required wiring, Instruction Manual and a quick connect card (very useful).
Sound Quality:
Upon initial setup this system would appear to be a bit lacking, but once you?ve tweeked with the controller on the sub and the various media settings on your PC it turns into a monster of a system.
The sub makes the floor vibrate if the volume is up high and makes gaming really good, but the combination for music playing is also phenomenal. They combine crispness and bass very well.
A combination of high performance microdrivers and ported dual subwoofer drivers is the technology that makes this system so good.
Don?t be fooled into thinking that because they are slimline...

Altec Lansign 5100 5.1 speaker system
Advantages: Light weight, Compact design, Stylish, Amazing sound quality
Disadvantages: Power cable could be longer as well as the controller cable
...of metal and plastic, and doesn't look or fell tacky or cheap.
There are 5 speakers in total, one of which is the centre speaker. This is much more powerful and louder then the satellite speakers, 22 watts instead of 7, is best posited right in front of you. There is also a subwoofer, which is pretty impressive for its size. The sub provides amazing bass and low frequency sound that can cause the floor to shake. There is also a controller that allows you to changes the volume level, bass/centre, treble/rear and what mode the system is in Stereo x2, 4.1 Gamming or 5.1 sound. I mostly use always use it in 5.1 sound mode or Stereo when I'm using my headset.
The sound quality is very good; it's sharp and crisp. There is no distortion when played loud either. When using the speakers you have to take into consideration the subwoofer. At home in...

Superb Speaker System
Advantages: Great sound, great design, easy setup
Disadvantages: Bass can be a little difficult to get just right
...--What made me choose these?--
Quite simply it was the look and design of the entire system. I had recently bought a flat panel screen for my PC and the general speakers that came with my computer did not only sound awful, but were beige - not in-keeping with the general design of my room.
--Design--
As the look and design of this speaker system was my primary reason for splashing out on these, I thought I better start and explain this. I was able to see this system set up in store before I bought, and I would recommend that if you are thinking of purchasing these you try and see them in their full glory first. They truly are a work of art. You can tell that Altec Lansing have really spent time in designing these speakers. You can always tell the difference between products that have been set a budget and then designed within...

Jenoptik JD C 2.1 Lcd
Advantages: good clear photos easy to use reasonable battery life
Disadvantages: No video out steady hand needed
.... For example, the JD 1.3 bosts a tft screen and seels for about £70, whilst it's almtost identical twin the JD2.1 comes in at around £90-£100. It's the 2.1 which we'll be reviewing here, and as you can guess the 2.1 stands for the image sensor size, of 2.1 megapixels. However as a name this is a little misleading, as the camera will actually take pictures at 3.0 megapixels, although this setting is interpolated and as a result quality suffers.
So how does the camera rate. Well first impressions as you take it out of the wrap are of a lightweight plastic cased camera. However, insert the batteries and it feels quite solid, unlike some cheaper cameras. The box tells us it has a Cmos sensor which usually realates to poorer image quality than those with Ccd's. However Cmos's are lighter on battery load, and thankfully this camera seems to last well...
