Review of Altec Lansing PowerCube Plus ACS48 by
darkteckno
Advantages: Value
Disadvantages: Can Distort
...The PowerCube speaker system is a 3-piece multimedia audio solution for your home or office personal computer that gives you power and performance at a tremendous value. Why settle for the limited output from a 2-piece system when you can step up to the powerful performance of the Altec Lansing PowerCube 3-piece system? I totally rate these speakers. I am glad that I have bought these. Altec Lansing have come up with a very good 3 piece set of speakers. At FULL volume there is very little distortion. However when you play with the bass and treble settings within Windows 98, it seems to a bit crazy (at high volumes). This is a great little speaker set, and I would reccomend them to a student, but I wouldn't mind something with even MORE power. Well Done Altec....

Is it really worth it?
Review of Altec Lansing 641 by

Advantages: Great speakers,amazing clarity,awesome quality.
Disadvantages: High price tag, no digital input.
...I bought these speakers a month ago and I think they are simply superb. The Altec Lansing 641 is a 4.1 speaker system , which means you get 4 satellite speakers and a subwoofer (4 +1 = 4.1, get it ?!) It is one of the high powered models of Altec Lansing created specifically for gaming. You can also use them as a glorified sound system by attaching them to your TV or CD player. The dual - ported subwoofer delivers deep, stunning bass with its 100 RMS watts. It should ideally be placed in a corner or under a table for optimum effect. The four speakers are no shirkers when it comes to the power department either, with each topping off at about 30 W. They exhibit great quality at medium frequencies and absolute clarity at higher frequencies. These speakers are definitely well suited for games as they give you realistic surround sound...

A useful little CF card
Review of Altec Lansing Compact Flash CF 8 8 MB by
sjhill
Advantages: Small, handy size, good for a few photos, or important data
Disadvantages: Low capacity for modern cameras
...CF cards have to be one of the most boring things to write about, and they are all much of a muchness in terms of manufacturing quality and durability, so I'll be brief.
Altec have a good reputation, as far as I am aware, for products like these - and of the dozen or so of the memory cards I have, none have had any problems.
An 8MB card will hold approx 8 hi-res photos from a decent digital camera. This is obviously not a lot, but if you were doing portraits of people, or a few quick shots of certain places, keeping them on distinct cards could have its advantages.
Furthermore, just because you mostly see these being used by cameras, doesn't mean you can't use them for other things. I carry some important data - encryption keys, email address books, and important documents on one. You can use readily available (and cheap) adapters...

Awesome sounding combined with excellent looks
Review of Altec Lansing 2100 PC multimedia speaker system by
karenlearmonth
Advantages: Trendy looks, Excellend sound/build quality
Disadvantages: Perhaps the remote control
.../off and master volume operations. It has its own cast alloy stand too for on the desktop. A wireless remote would have been nice as I tend to use my laptop in the garden at BBQ’s with all attached, but very good additional perk all the same.
Manufacturers Support:
I haven’t needed to contact Altec with regards to this product, but I have looked on their .com website and this is very useful. You can download manuals/info/Q&A etc and their site is also very well designed like their product.
Overall Verdict (And Value for Money):
The MSRP in USA is $99.95 according to Altec Lansing themselves which I think is very reasonable for what you get. I can’t remember how much I paid in GBP sorry.
Personally this is an outstanding bit of kit to slap onto a PC, worthy of any PC where sound is imperative (gaming/music etc). I’ve never ever had...
