Advantages: Good service, efficient, fast
Disadvantages: a penny or two more expensive on some items

...I have now bought books on line from both Amazon and BOL and there are some clear differences between the two. Although they both look very similar online, I have found that the speed of delivery, accuracy of order and customer services department far superior at Amazon than at BOL. Whilst BOL may be a few pence cheaper on some items, my experience has been that it is always worth sticking to Amazon as their operation is fast and efficient. The only advantage that I can see that BOL has over Amazon, is that if only part of an order is ready, BOL will send it and not charge you any extra Postage and Packing charges, whereas Amazon will only send it out when it is all ready or will charge you extra to send it out item by item. I have never had any problems with Amazon but plenty with BOL... Read review

...Amazon.co.uk is the best on-line store, because they have a huge list of music, videos, dvd, books etc.. for you to chosse from. They portal easy to use and easy to navigate around. You can use all major credit and debit cards to pay for goods. If you are shopping for christmas amazon will wrap the present for you and deliver it to any address in the uk. ...I first came across Amazon last year when I was doing a search for places in the UK that I could buy books from online! Since finding Amazon, I will not order books from any other site. I think Amazon are excellent in every aspect of the way they run thier business. It is very efficient, by emailing you as and when yor order is processed and when your goods have been despatched. There is also an online order tracking facility, so you can be kept up to date immediately as to the status of your orders. I have also compared Amazon prices with other well known book stores online, and Amazon are excellent value for money! You can even order books which have not yet been published, they will hold your order till the books have been released by the publishers, and then send them on to you as soon as they get them. ...Amazon is definitely a great way to shop online - for books (bought several), videos, gadgets and most importantly cd's. This had to be the site's best advantage. Not only can you buy most cd's at a competitive price to the local high street stores but you can listen to extracts of the tracks as well. This is brilliant in order to find a cd that suits your taste and ensures a good buy. It also enables you to hunt different styles and genres in order to find discover new bands that maybe you hadn't heard of. There is the american version but also the english amazon (www.amazon.co.uk) which allows you to get products but not necessarily with shipping costs as well (if you live in england that is). Shopping at Amazon beats battling the crowds anyday!... Read review

...Amazon.co.uk has a wide variety of functions. The quality and the quantity of the books on offer at amazon.co.uk is vast. Amazon also sells games and other products. I bought several books from amazon.co.uk, and they arrived on time as they predicted. They are a warm and sensitive company and are open to opinions, to improve customer quality and the quality of the website, this website has many links to other very good websites, but amazon.co.uk must be one of the best online shops I have visited in a long time. They always offer the latest PC and console games. And as soon as a movie or other videos are released they are instantly put on display at amazon.co.uk. When you have a problem receiving (buying a book or other product from them) they will happy to oblige to comments or opinions on how to improve their customer care.... Read review

Not only do Amazon offer the widest range of goods, but the delivery times are always very quick indeed, whether you are ordering for home or abroad - indeed, within the UK, 24 hours is the norm... Another good feature is the fact that when you register for Amazon.co.uk, your details are automatically stored for use on the other country-specific sites so that should you win a gift voucher for Amazon.de or Amazon.com, you would be able to log on to those sites and access your personal account details straightaway. Perhaps the only gripe lies with postage costs for deliveries within the UK, as these are astronomical compared with the charges from Amazon... Read review

...Amazon claim to be the best, but are they? Well, frankly, yes. After taking the leap from online bookstore to all in e-tailer, Amazon has gone from strength tp strength and while that may not yet translate into outright profitability, it soon will. So lets look at a few points... Delivery Times - They tell it like it is, if they say they can get it to you within 48 hours then they can. If it will take a little longer then they tell you that as well. Some say that the main reason not to use services like Amazon to buy music is that you cant listen to your purchase right away. Well, unless you're a complete technophobe you might as well download a couple of tracks on mp3 to tide yourself over for a day or two. Prices - While Amazon.co.uk is not yet fully down with the idea that less physical overheads means lower prices... Read review

...Amazon have exceptional customer service and provide excellent service every time. Each and every time I order books from them, they arrive on time as specified by Amazon. I find that they have an excellent range of books and I always find what I am looking for. The prices are average, as I have come across books that are cheaper elsewhere. But on the whole the Amazon site is easy to navigate and has facilities for customers who shop there regularly. It is a secure site, so there is not danger of your details falling in the wrong hands.... Read review
