Amcor DC800 Dehumidifier & Air Purifier

Advantages: Portable, dries laundry, filters air, multiple settings, cheap to run.
Disadvantages: Slightly awkward for emptying if you have long nails :)

...We had a serious problem with dampness and an equally serious problem with the cost of electricity and the continual wet weather. With no radiators to help dry clothes, the tumble dryer was eating into the household budget. That's when I found out about dehumidifiers and how economical these can be, plus, they can be beneficial to your health. After much research, I settled for the Amcor DC800 Dehumidifier & Air Purifier in one. I got mine for less than £80 including P&P and it has been the best purchase I've made in 2008! Mine uses about 1 unit of electricity per day and I'm amazed at how quickly it got rid of the musty, damp smell in the house, plus it's great for sitting under the 'pulley' or next to the clothes airer. The air that comes out of it isn't warm but it's circulating purified air whilst drying the washing...

Cheap air conditioning that works remarkably well

Advantages: It works really well
Disadvantages: The funny shaped outlet doesnt fit through my window opening

...So it was mid July and I was sweltering in my office so at 5.30pm I trotted off to Currys to buy an air conditioning unit to save my sanity. There was a large selection available in the shop, but I chose this unit as it was £80 cheaper than advertised and at £149.98 I reckoned that if it was no good then it wasnt too expensive a mistake, so I bought it and carried it to the car and installed it that evening ( very easy set-up) Next day...................switched it on and ..............bliss!!!! A lovely cool working atmosphere was restored in my office despite the temperature gauge in my car registering 30 degrees centigrade. The unit works efficiently and is not too noisy even at high setting, there is a timer function and a swing function that allows the cold air to be directed at various angles during the swing cycle...

Advantages: clean, comfortable, good service
Disadvantages: No direct flights out to Asia

...I have flown repeatedly with Gulf Air out to various places in Asia from India to South East Asia and the far east. These have always required a stop-off in the gulf area of the Middle East, almost always Bahrain which is the airlines hub. The airline has connections from London, Paris and Frankfurt out to Bahrain and from there there are plenty of connections out to Asia and to various places around the Middle East and Islamic countries such as Sudan and Iran. Thus it isn't the best connected airline for those trying to connect from Western Europe as it will almost always require a change over unless Bahrain is the final destination. The main reason I have flown with Gulf Air is that they have consistently been the cheapest option on offer for flights out to Asia-perhaps because of the required change over. Clean air?

Advantages: it does work.

You will need to be able to quickly and easily replace any filtration units and have a machine that is not too obtrusive for any domestic use. ..., the staff were quick and responsive. I cannot fault the passenger boarding and disembarkation of the aircraft, everything went smoothly and was on time, with no hint of delay. Upon entering the aircraft, the immaculately but heavily made up flight attendants greeted the passengers and pointed us to the direction of our seats. The seats were spotless and there was no hint of the last flight and passengers sitting there. The interior matched the steward's uniform and was in good condition. The navy blue, green, yellow and red plane logo is incorporated inside the plane's interior. However, the seats are not exactly spacious on Air 2000 and neither are the aisles. Anyone on the larger size would find it difficult to squeeze into a chair, yet alone walk down the gangway. This really is cattle class, squeeze them in and keep prices...

Overpriced low powered 11000btu pretending to be a power15000btu

Advantages: smart and easy to use
Disadvantages: very expensive and does not produce the cooling expected

...This is sold at a very high price even for a 150000btu machine but the truth is that is only just over 11000btu. I have now found out that the EU brought in a standard way of measuring cooling output over 3 years ago but Amcor persist in misleading people into believing their units are more powerful by using a non-approved measure of output. The unit itself is smartly designed but proves noisy in operation and of course does not produce the cooling power expected. Whilst it is adequate for a small lounge it is too loud for a bedroom and will not cool a large lounge or conservatory. The heating function is also not as good as expected. There are better units on the market for at least £100 cheaper....
