...Erm… Well no actually! Motherboards can be drastically different in quality and speed. You just need to know how to look at them and what are the good and bad points of them all. Okay so here goes for the bad points about the Abit SoA AMD 761 ATX R motherboard Bad points: ~~~~~~~ 1. Windows will fight you over which device drivers are best and you’ll generally end up not even using the disk of drivers they give you. The navigation on the disk is painful at best and could be so much simpler. 2. There is no on-board sound (which I consider a plus personally, but others may not) (On board sound is normally crap!) 3. It may not come with the CMOS cleared (Mine didn’t and wouldn’t do a thing till I clear it! V. Annoying) (CMOS is your internal clock, and bios setup options) 4. It will only cope...

Advantages: absolutley stunning. easy to set up.

...I used this motherboard on my first home made computer. I must say that it worked a treat. I fitted to it an AMD 6000+ X2 processor,4GB R.A.M, 1000GB Hard drive space, Blue Ray Reader. 512MB graphics card...and some other small components. I have never seen a motherboard before that came with absolutley everything you would need one one for this price, 7.1 surround sound, integrated graphics including a HDMI slot, 4USB ports on the back... it just had everything. And above all that It went together like a computer should, very easy with no problems. It took me about 2 hours to built it, this wasnt includint the operating system though. I had absolutley no problems with it what so ever. I have read some other reviews about this motherboard before I brought it and they have stated that the BIOS is a tad confusing, i havent found it...

AMD's Phenom II 3Ghz Beast!

Advantages: Highly overclockable, will eat, chew and spit out anything! PRICE!!!!
Disadvantages: its milli seconds slower than the I7! so no disadvantages at all!!!

...On for my 7th review!! I bought this remarkable peice of kit approximately 3 months ago, and i have to say it certainly does NOT disappoint! With masses and masses of power it will spit out anything with grace and style and is the equivelant to using a nuclear device to knock off a door! full on over kill but done with pure style and less mushrooming and carnage! so the basic standard is 3Ghz x4 when it comes out of the box... ok, so for many times as much you can have Pentiums I7 with more oomph and quicker! but the AMD comes into its own when you decide to overclock the already beastly device! i have read in bench tests it has peaked at 5Ghz! but definitely not recommended! i think 3.5-4Ghz is a safe bet, for standard cooling and pre-set voltages..... but that is still a whopping 14Ghz of combined power! BEASTLY is an understatement...

My current pc at the time being an Amd Athlon XP 2600+ (which is still pretty fast), i was after something faster but not too expensive (and as i am an AMD fanatic it had to be an AMD). AMD Athlon XP 3000+

Advantages: Decent performance, cheap, you can tell you're mates "I got one too!"
Disadvantages: Not as fast as Pentium 4 rated at same speed, not future proof

...stands for XPerience. Sure... any excuse for AMD... Installing it was a breeze. Just earth yourself first before you take it out of it's box, being very careful not to touch it anywhere but the sides. The motherboard itself has the socket with a lever, just lift up the lever and slide the processor pins into the socket and close the lever. You have to check for orientation as well or the pins could get really bent out of place. After inserting it into the socket, you'll need to install the heatsink/fan onto the processor, be sure to use a flathead screw driver because that would help you hook one of the ends into place on the motherboard. Plug the fan into the motherboard et voila! Installed Athlon! Now just boot up and adjust the speed in the BIOS. If I remember corrently, the AMD Athlon XP 3000+ runs at 2.167GHz. That's not surprising...
