AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ A very respectable processor

Advantages: Runs cool. Overclockable. Very stable

...Around a year ago, I built myself a computer and decided to continue using AMD processors as I have found them to be very reliable. I opted for the X2 4800+ as it was the right value of power and price. The installation of the processor was relatively hassle free and without problem as the bundled heat sink had easy fit fixtures attached to it. Once the processor was installed and all the componants put in place, the computer worked without a problem and even when putting the processor under load. Due to the case that I selected the air flow was fantastic so the processor ran realitvely cold, around 45 - 50 degrees. I found the processor to be very versatile as well, as I overclocked each core to over 3GHz without any loss of stability and there was also software provided that allowed for a variable clockspeed depending on the load...

AMD Athlon 64 3500+ 2.2GHz

Advantages: 64-bit future proofed, speedy, excellent value for money

AMD Black Edition AMD Athlon X2 7850

...This is the first Black Edition processor from AMD that I own. This processor has 2.8 GHz of stock speed and 3MB total cache divided in 2x512KB L2 cache and 2 MB L3 cache. This Athlon series built on 65nm process so it has rather high TDP, which is 95 watt. I think this is the fastest dual core processor on 65nm process. The Athlon X2 7850 also has HyperTransport 3.0, for up to 28.5 GB/s total processor to system bandwidth, and it supports DDR2 memory with a maximum speed of 1066MHz. AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200+

Advantages: Great multitasking speed and reliability
Disadvantages: Minimal overheating

...I have had this processor installed in my pc for over a year now, and as of yet have found little to complain about. Runs relatively cool in comparison to other AMD processors I have had in the past, and with a little research can be overclocked significantly with little heat increase. I currently use a small liquid cooling system on the processor and have had great success with it. As far as for gaming, there are other processors out there that would be better for performance, but you are going to PAY!!! For the price, this is probably just about the best Dual Core processor available right now, especially if you are an AMD faithful such as myself. Easy to install and maintain. Now for the bad: I have noticed in SOME (very few) games that overheating DOES occur, however this is only during intense moments that truly pull maximum system...

AMD Athlon XP 3000+

Advantages: Decent performance, cheap, you can tell you're mates "I got one too!"

AMD 64 4200+ X2 AM2 (2.2GHz) processor!

Advantages: Dual Core, Low power usage* and Fast!
Disadvantages: Motherboards can be costly for this!

...pentiums can be twice the price for the same spec AMD! In comparison to my old computer (old old p4 1.9Ghz with 1gb ram) this processor helps to wipe the floor with my old computer. The dual core feature means that in comparison i can listen to music, run an anti-virus scan, spyware and adware scan and play Hitman: Blood Money at the same time with very little noticeable shuddering or lag! Excellent. If my old computer attempted this bouts of freezing and poor gameplay would occur! The startup speeds of the computer are very noticeable as it takes around 40secs to boot in total (after everything has loaded up) whereas my old computer would literally take atleast 4 minutes to boot everything up - no joke!
