...The AMD FX-8150 Black edition is an 8 core processor that will blow you away, I was given this to test and unfortunately give back but for the time that I did have it my computer was unstoppable.
Let me get into a bit more technical detail, this is an 8 core processor which is of course double that of quad core. It has a clock speed of 3.6GHz and a turbo speed of 4.2GHz which is insanely fast...

AMD's latest bulldozer processor
Advantages: Cheap, extremely fast
Disadvantages: The performance of this processor is weak on low resolution games
...My brother recently gifted me a desktop with AMD's bulldozer processor. I was amazed to see its speed. I think that this processor definitely beats all intel core i7 processor!!
Configuration of my desktop
Processor: AMD bulldozer-FX8150 ($245)
Ram: 6GB DDR 3 ($85)
HDD: 1TB ($60)
Motherboard : ASUS' Crosshair V Formula AM3+ ($250)
Graphics: XFX HD Radeon 6870 ($200)
Power supply: Gigabyte...

Amazing chip, if a little hot... and loud...
Advantages: Very fast, amazing value, easy to install
Disadvantages: Run hot, loud fan when trying to keep it cool
...686, AMD K5 and K6, Intel Pentium, those are CPU names that I had encountered a lot of when computers started becoming popular and mainstream. Most I.T. pros would, and still today, argue that Intel were the best, and if you purchased anything else you were either:
1) Poor
2) Uninformed
3) A primary school teacher
4) All of the above
It was blasphemous to own any CPU other than an Intel based chip...
