Reviews of amd sempron 2 ghz processor
Do it with AMD!
Review of AMD Sempron 2400+ / 1.66 GHz processor by
rally1998
Advantages: Cheap, Reliable, AMD
Disadvantages: Slowish compared to better CPUs
...becausw of the lower clock speed! this is why we get AMD Sempron 2800+ with a clock speed of 1.66ghz, The 2800+ merely indicates that this would outperform (hence the (+) at the end of the figures) an equivalent processor running at 2.8ghz.
These rpcoessors are plug in and play, simply drop the processor into the socket, pull down the lever and clip on the heatsink and fan and there it is! Instructions do come with these processors if you buy the Retail Pack, the instructions have full colour step by step guides, you can;t go wrong!
Intel are mass marketed and mainstream, TV adverts the lot, AMD....no, AMD processors are bought, used by people who are in the know how and don't need to rely on mass marketing schemes.
This processor in particular is very nice. at 1.66ghz and 2800+ it allows applications to open and run rather quickly...

Superb Performance!
Review of AMD Sempron 2800+ / 1.6 GHz processor by
ManiDhillon
Advantages: Budget, Low Heating, Less Power Consumption, 64 Bit Architecture, Solid Built Quality, High Performance
Disadvantages: None in particular
...AMD Sempron 2800+ code name PALERMO [Socket 754] ~1.60GHz [1600MHz] is a 64 Bit affordable and high performance processor from AMD Corp.
Having 256 KB L2 Cache and 800MHz [*8x] HyperTransot running at 1.40 volt, it is suitable for all everyday work and gaming too.
AMD Sempron 2800+ is based on AMD x8664 architecture supporting MMX, Enhanced 3d Now, SSE, SSE2 and NX Bit.
It support 64 Bit Operating systems and applications.
We can extract the maximum performance from this processor if we use a 64 Bit Operating System with it. It doesn't heat up as AMD's older processors.
I run Kubuntu Feisty Fawn 7.04 x64 having this processor and a 768 MB of DDR 400MHz RAM and its giving me much more than enough.
It can serve you as good as an Intel 2GHz processor.
If you are interested ina budget 64 bit processor and good performance then its for you...

AMD XP 3200+ enters AMD into the 400Mhz arena
Review of AMD Athlon XP 3200+ / 2.2 GHz processor by
Ecosimon
Advantages: A worthy cheaper rival to Pentium 4
Disadvantages: The AMD heatsink and fan is not good enough, and hard to attach to the motherboard
..., the AMD XP 3200+ is a 400mhz processor so your processor frequency should be set at 200, this is automatically done with some motherboards or you will have to change the jumper setting manually.
Though the core clock speed is set at 2.2Ghz on the AMD XP3200+, with the advanced instruction set contained on the Barton core, this means the AMD XP 3200+ processor is comparable in speed and performance to a Pentium 4 running at 3.2Ghz, hence the XP3200+.
The AMD XP3200+ now includes 3DNow! Professional Technology which further enhances your 3D gaming experience, offering faster access to the processor while playing labour intensive 3D games. Already packed with 3DNow! Advanced Technology (contained on previous processor versions) this added feature will give yet another added bonus when playing games.
The AMD XP3200+ comes with a generic heatsink...

AMD Sempron 3000+(AM2)(1.6GHz)
Review of AMD Sempron 3000+ / 1.6 GHz processor by
DrDivvi
Advantages: Incredibly cheap, reliable CPU
Disadvantages: FSB+Cache could be better
...when the AMD X2 prices come down in the future, if you are planning to upgrade.
Although the FSB and cache aren't amazing, it wouldn't really be a cheap processor if they were, so I can't really complain about that.
If you're looking for a cheap, reliable CPU. Wether you're on a budget, or want something until the X2 prices come down, a Sempron is a recommended buy....

Don't live in the past
Review of Cyrix, Intel & AMD - CPU war by
cjkace
Advantages: Low prices
Disadvantages: -
...Processor speeds have accelerated at their greatest rates over the last twelve months, with AMD hitting the 1 Gigahertz mark first, but Intel hitting the 2 Gigahertz ahead. Poor old Cyrix (now owned by Via Technologies) were left far, far behind.
In terms of market, Cyrix are aiming at the ultra low end and embedded systems, leaving AMD and Intel to fight out the desktop and server market. AMD can claim to have captured a large percentage of the desktop market especially at the budget end and mid-range, while Intel seem to be left with the top end and the server market.
Unfortunately for AMD, Intel hit the 'magic' 2 Gigahertz first, while AMD could 'only' manage 1.6Ghz, which prompted AMD to re-name their processors and bring back the infamous PR (Performance Rating), something which Cyrix first introduced some years back...

amd chip
Review of AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ / 2.3 GHz processor by
benweale
Advantages: fast, cheap
Disadvantages: none
...this chip is such good value, just built a new computer using this one, much faster than a 2 year old amd, runs cold, dual core.
why pay for much more expensive chips when this one is does it all.
comes with its own heatsink and fan, so easy to install its not big once its all assembled.
i much prefer amd over intel as they perform better for the price, its easy to find motherboards that support these, that is the problem with older models that they become non supported really quickly so you are forced to upgrade everything at once, but i cant belive the difference that it makes when opening lots of files open and using it for photo editing.
buy it...

AMD Duron kicks butt
Review of AMD Duron by
Kinny
Advantages: Duron is good for value.
Disadvantages: It has none.
...be to buy a Duron. You may want to buy a different processor, but why??? The AMD Thunderbird is only slightly better than the Duron in some aspects and also it is a lot more expensive than the Duron. Celeron as i have said are a waste of money as they as just purely crap. right, back to the mainstream of things, you could go and spend a lot of money on a PIII but why, the PIII is only good at over the 1GHz mark anything before it is ruled by the AMD family of processors so i don't recommend it. So overall for people thinking about upgrading, i highly recommnd the AMD Duron, it's good for value, i mean it's damn good for value, it's better tahn the Celeron and it's also very overclockable. For overclocking, i would look into it and buy a motherboard that will allow you to adjust certain things so you can't just go skimpy on the motherrboard. Atthe...

A Great CPU for the everyday user.
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3200+ / 2 GHz processor by
Danz0r
Advantages: Price - Runs Vista
Disadvantages: Quite Hot -
...I recently used this processor when upgrading from a Sempron 2800+, which had come to the end of its lifespan.
This processor, was great from the start.
It was easy to install (Though I recommend getting a professional to do it, if you don't know much about computers yourself.), Simply putting it into the Socket 939 compatible motherboard, with a small blob of thermal paste (Supplied) and then placing the heatsink on top. Wack on the fan, and you're ready to go.
It runs reasonably quietly, but if your looking for that "Silent PC" i'd say replace the fan/heatsink. Thats how easy it is. I've been using mine now for around a 4 months, without a single problem. Good work AMD :D.
I've heard from friends that this Processor will also comfortably run Vista, if using it in a decentish system. I'll be upgrading shortly, so i'll keep you...

AMD have done it again
Review of AMD Athlon 64 3000+ / 1.8 GHz processor by
bigdavep
Advantages: Warranty, Easy Install, Very Quick, Inexpensive, Overclockable
Disadvantages: Can't think of any
...will hear about in a bit) and quieter than most mainstream heatsinks.
The installation is simple enough as thet provide a foldout leaflet with step by step instructions with photos and in different languages. Simply pop the processor in the correct way round, clamp it in, hook over both ends of the heatsink and flip the lever over and lock to firmly affix the heatsink, thats it!!!!
Now I mentioned about how good the heatsink is with cooling, thats not the half of it. The processor itself is very overclockable. At correct settings it runs at 1.8GHz. A chap on gladiators forums posted, with a CPU-Z screenshot how he clocked the core speed up to 2.5GHz (yes thats an extra 700MHz) on the original packaged AMD heatsink, no water cooling, no special thermal past other than what was on the original heatsink and the heatsink is still cold enough...
