Amersham
Review of Amershan in General by  DanTownsend

Advantages: Good for shopping, eating and drinking
Disadvantages: bad for any late night nightlife

...Amersham - the end of the Metropolitan line out of London has a picturesque old town and a practical, busy new town. It is about 40 mins from London Marylebone or Baker Street. The old town has many restaurants, including fish, Mexican, Italian and a Cafe Rouge - Some of them are very busy and impossible to book at short notice. The choice of pubs is endless, with over 5 to sample, all serving good ales and at reasonable prices. The Amersham Museum is situated here in the old town, as is the old grammar school building and it was the setting for part of Four Weddings and a Funeral. Two pubs were used in the filming!!. The school, Dr Challoner's Grammar School for boys is now up in the new town. Lunchtimes and after school sees the town swamped in students. As well as students running around all over the place, the new town... Read review

More Than Just A Petrol Station . . . .
Review of BP Chalfonts Way, Bucks by  jjllss

Advantages: Everything you could need, great selection, good location.
Disadvantages: No car vacuum, sometimes a queue for the car wash.

...Situated along a busy road between Amersham and Little Chalfont, BP is on the right hand side if you are heading for Amersham with the Pineapple pub on the other side. Generally this particular petrol station serves its purpose well, what with its many amenities, there are a lot of selling points to this site. However busy it gets and busy it is, there is usually always a free pump and if not, you never tend to be waiting long for one. One downside is the queuing space, or lack of. If there is more than one or two cars queuing you are practically waiting on the road, signalling in, which is never nice! There are 2 parking spaces plus a disabled bay too, opposite the pumps with another 4 spaces next to the car wash, these are positioned perfectly for anyone checking their tyres or topping up their water or oil. Both water... Read review

Come Mr Taliban deliver we Bin Ladden
Review of Grasshoppa by  Violent_J

Advantages: below
Disadvantages: they have'nt been signed yet

...heavily by Flea of The Red Hot Chili Peppers. Leo the old bassist has left, and very exciting news, Dan and Rhyd's younger brother Nathan has once again joined but will again be leaving to get his own solo career! As their very special rhythm guitar player, and they have just done a gig at the Amersham Arms in new cross and will be doing a gig on wednesday 2nd Oct at a pub in Bromley. They have been on the TV talent show Young, Gifted and Broke because they have been knocking about for around 10 years but can't seem to catch a brake! They have a very Guitar based live sound and are excellent preformers, they regularly play at a pub called the Amersham Arms in New Cross London. They rearly talk about their emotions so all that energy overflows when they play. They sample from such greats as the Beatles, the Temptations, Jackson... Read review

PURE TRAVEL MADNESS... UPDATED
Review of Getting around in London by tube by  tom_knowles

Advantages: Free Metro paper.
Disadvantages: Have you not read this man?

...O.K…so we know that the underground is a network of tube lines spanning the length and breadth of central London, as well as the ‘Special Zones’ outside the city e.g. Watford and Amersham. Go to any tube op in Ciao and there will be endless info ranging from the colour of each line to the number of stations that have pretty hanging baskets on the platforms. The vast majority will tell you how wonderful the tube is, being the next best thing since sliced brown bread (possibly the type with those little bits embedded in it that look like dirt or squirrel droppings)! Balderdash is what I say. Those ops are clearly written by either tube virgins, or those that enjoy inflicting pain on themselves. The tube is in fact worse than the monotonous nature of these ops themselves. It is even more annoying than when your best... Read review

Want to see the sights? Camping for London
Review of Breakspear Way Caravan Club Site by  annie59

Advantages: Proximity to London, small friendly site
Disadvantages: Very noisy

...In July we stayed at this caravan club site. We chose it because we have always promised the kids that we would show them the sights of our great capital city. We were'nt disappointed with the positioning of the site. It was 20mins to Baker street on the bus, which was the method of transport recommended to us by the site wardens. This however turned out to be expensive (£40 for 6 of us) so we researched nearest tube stations, finding one at Amersham, 20mins drive away. From here it cost us £20 for 6 for a railcard allowing unlimited travel around London. The site itself was reasonably well equipped and we had a very warm welcome from the wardens who really looked after us. Now the down side........although this site is described as tranquil in the caravan club brochure, it is very noisy. It is situated right on a busy dual... Read review

When Chelli met Ossie...
Review of Everything that starts with W ... by  paulmiceli

Advantages: The opportunity to praise a legend for the last time.
Disadvantages: So sad to see the big man go.

...do, especially when I need a boost. I picked up a lift from Aylesbury quite quickly, and got as far as Amersham, a typical Buckinghamshire town in the middle of nowhere and still 25 miles from Stamford Bridge. I didn't really rate my chances of another lift but was surprised to see a blue people carrier stop in the lay-by within seconds of sticking my thumb out. Having told the driver I was heading for West London, I was delighted when he informed me he was driving down for the match as well, and settled back in my seat knowing I was going to get to the game in plenty of time. As the journey progressed, I realised that I'd actually met the chap who picked me up several years earlier from when he ran branch meetings of his local Chelsea Supporters Club. His name was Mike and he was a little older than when I knew him but once... Read review

Keeping Hyacinth happy!
Review of Baco Scent...sations by  Discerna

Advantages: masks unpleasant bin smells, well-designed dispensing box
Disadvantages: very thin, see-through, odd shape/size, no closure on vanity liners

.... The recycle symbol on the box might have led me to think that the contents were environmentally friendly, but in practice it referred to the box itself which has been made from recycled board. No comment is made about the degradability of the contents from which I must assume the worst. I’m still not sure why I bought them! I don’t think I’ll be buying any more. A lot of the ratings below don't really make sense. For further information: Consumer Services Baco Consumer Products Ltd Raans Road Amersham Bucks HP6 6JY Website: www.baco.co.uk... Read review

Number 1 Transport For London
Review of Getting around in London by tube by  fromthedarkside

Advantages: Fast, Cheap, Easy, Efficent,
Disadvantages: Busy Times, Can cause problems in the summer due to high temperatures or too much people,

...in zone 6 or zones A,B,C,D. The trains start from Aldgate and end in either Watford, Chelsham, Amersham or Uxbridge. This line is not long as the district line but it is the oldest line, but it has been updated with its national rail type of train. ~~Northen line: The northen line runs throughout zones 4 all the way to zone 5. The trains run in the direction of northbound and southbound and run through North London and South London. Trains start from Morden and end up at Edgware or Mill Hill East or High Barnet. Northern lines run to Euston and Kings Cross. And runs though out central London. To go to Edgware or Mill Hill East or High Barnet, you might need to change at Euston because the line goes off in different directions. ~~Piccaadilly line: The line runs throughout Cockfosters and ends at either Heathrow Airport or to Uxbridge...
