CLK 200 Kompressor (AMG) Cabriolet

Advantages: Style (with AMG kit), roof, interior space, it is NOT an Audi
Disadvantages: Price, performance, scuttle shake, rear seat access

...We bought this on the 'rebound' from the deeply unsatisfactory Audi A4 cabrio we had owned for 22,000 troublesome and very unsatisfactory miles. The car is an oddball, as it has the whole factory fitted AMG body kit, uprated brakes and exhaust, but is standard mechanically. The bodykit really suits the car and makes the standard issue version (on smaller wheels) look like a very frumpy thing. The car has been a paradigm of reliability and service (but only for 1 year !) but, it isn't perfect. The engine is anaemic and gutless - same power as the Audi 2.5 tdi, but half the torque, so struggles to deliver acceleration. Fuel is not much worse than the Audi at around 28mpg overall, but the car is used by my wife for a short, hilly, county roads commute to and from work, so this is not a good indicator. ...After buying the Mercedes SLK 32 AMG a couple of months ago, because I needed a something to get me from the city to home in Belgravia. I can say I was so pleased with the car me and my wife flew to Germany to pick up my baby. Having had BMW convertibles for most of my working life it was a change. It wasn't cheap at 45k but worth every penny, the test is after changing my car every couple of years I don't think I could trade in my baby for anything better!! (except a newer model!) Ich liebe mein Auto

Advantages: Everything, pure craftsmanship, AMG, handling
Disadvantages: I look like a lady in it!

...I am going to start with the many reasons why I love my SLk 55 AMG. Its mercedes, its fast, its reliable, its handling, its suspension and its breaks. Oh yeah its also AMG which allows us want to be bad boy racers to get out on the street but not look like something out of Westside story. I'm going to follow up with the non-motoring side of things that the SLk offers as it is more of a ladies car it excels in this area. Firstly it has heated head rest to keep those vitual brain cells warm. Secondly it came with the entertainment package with sat-nav upgrade (again for the women) and comes with built in 11 HardonKardon speakers for the classics to pump out through. It also comes with an LCD command screen and DVD player for those long journeys with the kids in the back (apart from their are no back seats, so just leave the kids...

Advantages: Performance, Sounds, spacoius, at odds with Merc Image
Disadvantages: lack of hard-core diver appeal

...The E55 was released in 98' and has had a fierce reputation ever since Merc teamed up with it's current tuning partner AMG. Although not that many people know about it. It's starting price of nearly £60,000 isn't exactly cheap but you do get alot of things standard that were'nt on the E430, like full AMG body kit and alloys,a supercharged 5.5 litre V8. Not to mention all the AMG embroided intruments, dials, and leather interior inside. The bark from its huge V8 is one to be reckoned with, we're talking about the same size engine as a ferrari 550 maranello here. It's also a very relaxed car as well although the steering is a bit sharper than it stable mates.
