...Omar Khan's is a fairly traditional Indian restaurant situated in the centre of Bradford. We were in town for a weekend of curry and had eaten lunch that day at a very modern establishment so I wanted to go for the more traditional British "curry house" in the evening. I found Omar Khan's listed on the Visit Bradford website and a look at the restaurants own website was encouraging. The restaurant is situated on the south side of the city centre, beside the national Television and Media Museum and the Alhambra Theatre. The restaurant has a small car-park but there are other car-parks nearby and it's a five minute walk to the train and bus stations at Bradford Interchange. Advantages: Wonderful food, healthy options, great value

It serves beautifully cooked and presented food, the atmosphere is colourful, and the decor would put some more expensive restaurants to shame. Khans can be found at 13-15 Westbourne Grove, WC2, just down the road from Bayswater tube station. It was founded in 1977 and is still a family-run business. It's open 7 days, including Bank Holidays, from 12 noon till midnight, on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but closes between 3pm and 6pm Monday-Thursday. Firstly: an update. ...* WHY THE SORE FACE? * Channel4 recently ran this free-part documentary with Amir Kahn trying to transform sixth youths into something more useful to society, using the sport of boxing. As you can see, this show was entitled 'Amir Kahns Angry Young Men' and it really sounded as though it could be something quite interesting. Each part ran for an hour, and followed them over four weeks, although I'm not sure which episode threw in two weeks worth of action because there was no real indication of what was going on throughout the show. The show was good at trying to make us feel sorry for each of these youths at the background they came from, although I'm not sure if I can call them all youths as two of them looked about ready to collect their pension. ...This restaurant is a one pony trick. But don't think of that as a disadvantage, its what makes this place so good. The simple idea behind Khublai Khan is that for your main meal, you take a bowl, fill it with your own choice of the rice/noodles,veg and meat on offer, and then concoct your own sauce from the wide range of sauces and spices provided. You then hand your bowl over, and watch as your food is cooked on a massive hotplate, supposedly reminiscent of the monogolian soldiers who cooked their food on an upturned shield. It's a modern take on an old tradition, and as its in the trendy part of the inner city, the decor is modern, although a mural of mongolian soldiers dominates one wall. The staff are quite helpful, unpretentious, and don't intrude too much on your meal, which is a blessing in glasgow sometimes...
