...Beware of the AMSTRAD DRX100 Digital satellite system. My advice, don’t touch it with a barge pole. We took out a 12 month subscription with Sky in June 1999. They fitted the satellite dish and an AMSTRAD DRX100 decoder. The decoder carried a 12 month guarantee and sadly only just made it. Here we are in August 2000 and the box has finally given up the ghost. I can’t say it is a surprise, we had several problems with the box which required us to re-set the system or similar ‘minor’ rectifications throughout the time with it. I must also confess that we were warned by a friend, who has a strong distrust of all things AMSTRAD, but we didn’t listen. Well, the ‘losers’ are now Sky TV who have lost our subscription and, to a lesser extent, ourselves because we have had to give a month’s notice costing us £32. So, when faced... Read review

...I purchased an Amstrad emailer around summer 2005, and at first was excited about my new phone/email receiver as I had no PC to access my emails and thought this would be the perfect solution. A few months down the line after I had the chance to trial this phone believe me when I say it has been througholy ripped out of the phone socket and replace with a bog standard BT phone. The reason the amstrad emailer and myself fell out was down to theses factors; Around 8-10 times daily the phone auto dials a premium rate number - just to check if you have any mail and if you don't - tough cookies kid you've been charged anyway. Its not that I'm a skin flint but when your phone dials premium numbers all day long and you get your bill per quarter you can imagine the silly prices you end up paying. ...::::INTRODUCTION:::: Sky gave me this box when i signed up to sky multi-room. The box cost £49 with installation, but its free if your a first time subscriber and not getting multi-room! ::::CONNECTIONS:::: There are plenty of connections on this box by Amstrad... You can connect it up to surround sound, share the aerial feed and connect to a vcr or dvd recorder (standard stuff really). There slots to put your sky viewing card and interactive card (like a sky credit card) are stored away under a cover, which adds a nice style to the box. ::::Sound & Picture Quality:::: The sound and picture quality is just like my other sky (grundig) box, but sound and picture are slightly better as the Amstrad box has all the improved data chips and DVB certified stuff etc. The picture is nice on a SD Television, the detail is vibrant and text clear... ...Hi, I bought this box to replace my noisy Amstrad DRX280! And it is perfect, i cannot fault it at all. I switched it o with my fingers crossed that it wouldnt be too noisy as i have it in my bedroom. And YES it was virtualy SILENT! I was so pleased, now i cant hear it over the TV at all. You can hear it very occassionally when there is a pause in the program you are watching but its perfectly livable. This box is the best i have ever had, the customer services are fantastic as well. I acceidently snapped off the flap that covers the viewing card, and i couldnt get the thing back on so i emailed Pace. They got back to me the next day asking for my postal address so that they could send me 2 replacement flaps free of charge! I was so impressed again, they sent me 2 of the flaps comletley free of charge, i didnt even have to pay... Read review
