Reviews of amstrad e3 emailer
Easy to use E-mail device.
Review of Amstrad Emailer E3 by
prl100
Advantages: Low inital cost, well made, easy to use, nice big clear screen,
Disadvantages: High telephone costs, limited internet functionality,
...I bought a used Amstrad Emailer E3 from E-Bay.
It was very cost efficient (at first) and the piece of it you get is quite nice looking, prompting several comments from guests who see it.
First things first. The E-mailer is primarily a telephone.
The phone aspect of the device is fine, it has a wide range of features including Caller ID (if you have it on your line - phone co may charge for this), address book, speaker-phone and a nice big screen so you can see the number you are dialing or the number of the incoming call.
Sound quality is good on both speaker-calls and normal calls.
One minor issue I noticed was that for some reason there is sometimes about a half a second delay between when you pick up the handset and when the person on the other end can hear you - this means repeating the word 'hello' a second time...

Amstrad Emailer - Wiser option invest in a PC
Review of Amstrad Emailer 1000 by
Allybaba
Advantages: large Caller display sceen, access to email
Disadvantages: Calls premium numbers on auto to check for email
...I purchased an Amstrad emailer around summer 2005, and at first was excited about my new phone/email receiver as I had no PC to access my emails and thought this would be the perfect solution.
A few months down the line after I had the chance to trial this phone believe me when I say it has been througholy ripped out of the phone socket and replace with a bog standard BT phone.
The reason the amstrad emailer and myself fell out was down to theses factors;
Around 8-10 times daily the phone auto dials a premium rate number - just to check if you have any mail and if you don't - tough cookies kid you've been charged anyway.
Its not that I'm a skin flint but when your phone dials premium numbers all day long and you get your bill per quarter you can imagine the silly prices you end up paying.
You have the feature to send SMS...

Amstrad E-mailer plus could have been better
Review of Amstrad EMAIL2001+ by
GingerEmS
Advantages: Big LCD screen, Answering machine, fax, sms
Disadvantages: Not good for power failure, expensive services
.....:: Amstrad e-mailer PLUS ::..
i will start by saing that the phone is corded and cannot be used while doing other jobs around the house.
the reason i started like this is because the phone althou its corded it still needs to be connected to the power socket and cannot be used otherwise, the plus in the name for my opinion is because plus it has to be registred to perate and if you dont accept the terms and conditions of the legal binding of the unit then its money wasted as it cannot be used without a registred user and althou the power is on the unit wont give you a call tone making it impossible to make calls telling you to register to use.
althow with this introduction the product doesnt sound to be very good its the actual opposite because the unit is packed fuul of features infact its able to give you the following featuser...

EMAIL FROM YOUR PHONE
Review of Amstrad Emailer 1000 by
dabmim
Advantages: Email, easy to use phone book, answer phone
Disadvantages: see reveiw
.... So missing my Email desperately I invested less than £25 at Sainsbury’s for an Amstrad Emailer phone (luckily (or unluckily) we actually needed a new phone. I could hardly believe the price when I saw it and had to retake and check the little shelf label to confirm. I recall seeing them in Dixon’s last year for around £50 and thought that was a bargain at the time – so half that price is practically giving it away!
As you might suspect with a phone that claims to do so much it is slightly larger than most conventional telephones, and can only sit on a table (not wall mounted). There is a large display screen, on which you can read email, surf the internet etc. It’s on here that you’ll also sort out your address book – another handy feature of the phone (more later). There is the standard dialling keys and below that a mini set...

The Amstrad e-mailer Plus
Review of Emailer Plus by
steve.scott
Advantages: Stylish and ideal for the gadget fan.
Disadvantages: Costly, invasive and of late, a downright joke.
...The e-mailer plus is, to an extent a good phone. The idea and concept is absolutely wonderful. Make and receive calls hands free. Store upto 500 entries in the memory and then expand with a Smart Media Card if you need too. For a small charge, you can buy the Pocket Docket which is an electronic gadget that you can carry around with you as it has your phone book stored on it. When you update the phone book on the phone, simply slide the Pocket Docket into the side of the phone and update that aswell, automatically.
There are many features that some may like and some may dislike due to cost.
1. SMS Text Messaging to Mobiles = 50p each
2. Faxing (Send & Receive) = £another cost each
3. Download games 3/4 day Rental = 50p each
4. Emails = 10p each
5. Adverts (Responding) = £2.50 each
6. Automatic Phone Update (approx; cost) = £4.80pm...

My wife now sends me email - Hooray!
Review of Amstrad EMAIL2001+ by
colin.lawson
Advantages: Easy email, Great phone, nice design
Disadvantages: email constraints, Web constraints, 12p charge per connection to web
...I bought the Amstrad Emailer Plus under my wife's instance and I am glad I did – you can now pick one up for under £30. Before I tell you why let me run through what I find most useful about the phone.
Telephone
First of all it is a great telephone in it's own right with the BEST telephone book on any phone I have ever seen, even high spec business phones. Once you have added your numbers, which is a bit of a chore in the first instance if you aren’t wrapped up in the excitement of your new purchase, it is a delight to use the phone for making calls.
The answer phone is good quality, the speaker phone is crisp and clear from your side but you have to stand close to the telephone mic (a tiny hole at the front of the unit) to make yourself understood to the other person unless of course you shout like a lunatic from across...

Not What Its Cracked Up To Be!
Review of Amstrad EMAIL2001+ by
freaklikeme
Advantages: You can avoid unwanted phonecalls
Disadvantages: Not walkabout
...later. A small green light in the top left hand corner tells you when you have a message.
The phone will dial out and retrieve any email messages you may have waiting for you - there is a charge for this and a red light in the top right hand corner of the screen will tell you that you have mail.
The phone is not a walkabout one but has a hands free facility that allows you to hold conversations without the need of the earpiece.
The LCD screen shows the time and date and intermittently advertisements will pop up on your screen from Amstrads advertisers - you don’t pay for these!
**CHARGES**
To download games onto the phone there is a charge of 50p for 4 days or £1 for a month usage.
To access your emails it will cost you 12p per session whether you have 1 or 100 emails to retrieve and the price of a local call for as long...

Your Fired!
Review of Amstrad EMAIL2001+ by
mussonanna
Advantages: make and recieve calls and emails, loud speaker function
Disadvantages: requires power, recieve adverts, expensive to use emails
...if you've been watching 'The Apprentice' on BBC they then you may find this phone familiar. As Amstrads biggest selling product of the moment, every opportunity is made to show the phone, in sometimes rather pointless shots. ('Jenny, send them through')
We have had this phone for some time, it was given to us, but I believe it retailed at about £99 at the time, but you can get one for around £25 these days.
So this phone is fairly bulky, it is silver in colour and it's main distinguishing feature in comparision to other phones is the screen and also the pull out keyboard. The screen shows a clock in the centre and also shows you the date. The keyboard is for typing out SMS texts or emails. There are a couple of lights on the screen which tell you if you have any messages or emails. The buttons on the phone itself are well laid out...

GO GET ONE TODAY
Review of Amstrad Emailer 1000 by
broksababe
Advantages: Lots of cool features for gadget lovers!
Disadvantages: none
...I have just an amstrad emailer, an early christmas pressie actually and it really is excellent.
The phone itself, has tons of features, it stores up to 700 telephone numbers in its on screen address book, this is useful for easy dialing direct, and for each person you can add, home number, home address, office, email and mobile.
You simply select address book from its very own little keyboard, highlight the name and press home , office etc and it dials it for you.It also has a built in answer machine that allows you to record your own greeting also.Plus the email facility, you are allowed 8 email addresses per household and you can set it to either automatically collect them or manual, I would recommend manual as it costs 12p for each email!.Also it allows you to add voice messages to an email, and you can recieve pictures too.
Plus...

Now we know why Sir Alan is a millionaire
Review of Amstrad Emailer 1000 by
mysteriousplace123
Advantages: Clear display, answering machine, fax capabilities
Disadvantages: 17p a day charge, bad sound quality, overall rubbishness
...I purchased this phone in the latter half of 2004 I believe. I should never have made that purchase.
I saw the ads, read the reviews and thought "great! a phone with a futuristic design, silver look, LCD screen...". Now I know that you should always read the small print.
This phone calls a premium rate number every day to "poll" for emails and get advertisements for the screen. Some networks may charge more than others. The trick Amstrad have implemented here is to make it seem that the option is able to be removed and you can stop the polling...however the option has NO effect what-so-ever and the only thing to do seems to be to unplug the phone, and smash it into a near-by wall. Repeatidly. Hard.
The little "PDA" seems to be the only good thing about it
On a purely unbiased view, the phone has some interesting features. Big...
