I love Andalucia.
Advantages: Easy to reach
Disadvantages: Some local traditions aren't for animal lovers
...for ceramics and leather goods, and not too bad for clothes. They aren't cheap but they are of an excellent quality.
SUMMARY
Andalucia is wonderful. Get away from the tourist spots to find the real Spain, and you won't be disappointed. Great scenery, great food, and friendly locals made for a really enjoyable and relaxing break.
Nice hospitals too!...

andalucia has everything
Advantages: It has everything you could want in a holiday destination
Disadvantages: sometimes too hot for some at the peak of summer
...Andalucia is essentially the Costa Del Sol, it just encompasses more of the Spanish main-land. As well as the coastal areas which are jammed full of tourists (predominantly british usually), the breath-taking Spanish scenery in towns such as Granada, Ronda and Seville are all located within this beautiful region.
In my short life I have visited Southern Spain a total of 5 times and from the first visit, my whole family totally fell in love with it. The laid back life-style and "manana" attitude gives your holiday a lovely relaxed feel which is such a must when you go on holiday. Coupled with that, if you have children, are all the attractions which can keep the active family occupied for a 2 week break. You have the many water parks for those swelteringly hot days and "tivoli world" located in arroyo de la miel (literally...

If you are visiting Andalucia visit here first.
Advantages: lots of info
Disadvantages: None
...One thing I did before we went to stay in a village in Andalucia was look on the internet for information. One of the sites I came across was http://www.andalucia.com.
Opening the home page there is a green information strip telling you this site started in 1996 and that it is the world's premier site for useful info about Andalucia.
Under this green strip there it tells you the temperature in several of the towns in Andalucia.
There are several topics that you can click on to get pages of information, information on Accommodation, destinations , holidays travel , tourism, entertainment beauty , estate agents , housing , recreation, wildlife , government, education , and a few more too . There are the small adds for jobs, flat shares, items for sale.
There is a click on title to take you to what's on page.
There is...

Andalucia Plaza - not a 4 star hotel!
Advantages: Nice bathrooms and good breakfast
Disadvantages: Too many to mention
...Having just returned from the Andalucia Plaza, I thought I would let you know what I thought of this hotel. I went for the weekend with friends and had been highly recommended that this hotel was one of the best to stay in, in Marbella so was really looking forward to it.
We arrived on Friday and had booked to stay until Sunday (3 days) and got to the hotel at 1.30pm. Our rooms weren't ready and we had to wait 2 hours for them - not impressed! When we got to the rooms, the cleaners were still in there.
Were very disappointed with the rooms - not what I would call 4 star - very basic and the furnishings were tatty. The telephones didn't work the whole of our stay; the balconies were very small and we had a lovely view overlooking the air-conditioning units! Also, the TV only seemed to like showing us Russian programmes - not much...

CARMONA (not a back-seat driver)
Advantages: More history than you can shake a centurion's spear at
Disadvantages: May be too quiet for some
...CARMONA sits on an elevated plot of land commanding sweeping views of the Corbones valley, around 30km from Seville in Andalucia. This is a very fertile region so it's no surprise that this strategic site, one of the few high points in the area, has been settled by humans for a long time.
How long?
I'm not going down the road of historical time-lines, but let's just say that there is evidence of human settlement from the neolithic period.
It was during the Roman occupation that the town flourished, and apparently, the old town still follows the original Roman urban plan. The defensive gates, Seville and Córdoba, are Roman, but the most important Roman site in the town has to be the Necropolis (more on that later).
The town's prosperity continued under almost 500 years of Moorish occupation, and indeed, was a major player during...

Where Cork grows on trees
Advantages: fantastic area to visit
Disadvantages: none
...At Easter we holidayed in Andalucia inland not on the coast. We had a hired car and did drive a bit and we also went for walks. Andalusia's mountainous and some of the area still had snow in Early April. Where ever we were it was not far away from a cork oak tree .A lot of Andalucia has man managed cork oak forests. These forests were quite dense not much light getting through the canopy. These woods not as dark as pine forest though
The cork forests we went into seemed to be well managed and some have Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification, which recognizes that their forests are managed to the highest international social and environmental standards.
The cork oak tree quercus suber is a deciduous tree the leaves lobed and it produces acorns. An individual oak grows 9=12 meters tall. A cork tree can live to about 200...

Life Is Not Just A Beach
Advantages: Plenty to see and do around Jimena De La Frontera - not for kids though. Good roads
Disadvantages: None that I can think of but maybe a lot depends on your accommodation
...I'm getting my travel knickers all in a twist - I've already posted about my autumn break in Crete, and here I am writing about my two week holiday in August in inland Andalucia, and I haven't even written about Prague yet, having been there 12 weeks prior to that
Oh well, here goes??
Mention Andalucia to a lot of people and their immediate reaction is 'well, I know it's in Spain, but don't ask me where'.
Mention the Costa del Sol instead and then they'll say,' OH!! THERE!'
To be fair, I have done the 'beach thing' on the Costa del Sol myself, having stayed in Nerja a few times several years ago. Even then, it doesn't take long for somewhere like Nerja's admittedly pleasant attractions to wear thin, leaving me with itchy feet, so my seaside resort then becomes a base for some forays inland. On such previous holidays, I...

Great place. Very hot
Advantages: Cheap, sunny, good food, sexy ladies
Disadvantages: Can get quite hot (40c), few english speakers
...If you're reading this to find out about the Costa del Sol, then this review won't be of any use to you. If, on the other hand, you are curious about the multitude of amazing places that can be found in mainland Andalucia read on - and have a look at some photos to see for yourself.
Our journey began in Malaga going onto Antequera, Cordoba, Jaen, Cazorla, Segura de la Sierra, Baza, Guadix, Granada, Marbella and back to Malaga to fly home.
Destinations of note included Antequera where, aside from the very beautiful moorish town, you can also visit some great national park areas - specifically El Torcal, 15kms away. Further away, about 50kms to the southwest, is El Chorro, a stunning river gorge - the highlight of our journey. Once at the gorge it is possible to clamber up a disused road towards the railway tunnels. After passing...

Spanish Culture in Andalucia.
Advantages: Idyllic typically Andalucian town by the sea what other advantages can there be.
Disadvantages: None
...aside, and I digress, as always, I will return to my love of Spain.
Amongst those cities that I have visited, over the years, I include those that I love best, in no particular order. Taragonna, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, San Sebastian, and Estepona. I leave the latter until last, (well I couldn't have the latter first could I) because it is this city or more properly town that I want to opine about.
The most southern part of Spain is the Costa del Sol or Andalucia to give it its proper title. The part of Andalucia called Malaga (as opposed to the city of Malaga) and therein, just to the West of Marbella is Estepona.
What I love about this town is that it is truly Spanish, untouched by the influx of tourists as is the resorts further East, Fuengirola or Benalmadena Costa. Not that I do not like those towns as they each have their...

Sierra Nevada, Andalucia, Spain.
Advantages: Warm sun and snow in January and February. Price over others in Europe.
Disadvantages: Lack of snow in April. Not enough ski area. Not testing skiing.
...the late afternoon. The resort boasts more snow making machines than any other resort in Europe. It needs them all. However, rainfall in spring is not usually a problem in the Andalucia region and there has still been snow to ski on until late April in the last 2 seasons.
This year may be the first one for a few years to not have much rain/snow.
Ski passes are reasonable compared with France etc.
Prices as follows:
Adult ½ day pass from ?19.60 - ?28.00.
Children: ½ day pass from ?11.80 ? 16.80.
Adult day pass from?23.10 ? 33.00.
Children day pass from ?13.90 ? 19.80.
Adult 1 week pass from ?137.40 ? 196.30. Children 1 week pass from ?82.50 ? 117.80.
Seniors and handicapped charged at children?s prices.
I have skied here for anything from a day trip to one week. I first went there in 1983 when it was little more than...
