Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. Andy Mcnab is getting lazy with his writing

Advantages: Quite full of action
Disadvantages: Same man, same storyline, different place

...As you can see from my previous book reviews I have been very lucky in choosing some pretty good reads. But boy was I hugely disappointed in this latest in Andy Mcnabs series of books featuring the indestructible Nick Stone. My opinion When I first seen this copy in my local library I couldn't wait to get it home. But after the 1985 prologue and only four chapters in, I quickly came to realise that this was basically the same storyline, where we see Nick Stone coerced into something he really doesn't what to do, get seriously beaten up lose a good friend but eventually prevails against the evil tyrant who rules from afar. The only difference is the location. Advantages: Good information, very detailed
Disadvantages: Some language not suitable for younger readers.

...This is a real read and not for the faint hearted. The language is pretty graphic as are the details of Andy McNabs varied life. From the moment he was left in a carrier bag on the steps of Guy's Hospital to. I can understand why the government tried but failed to ban this book. McNab has been involved with conflicts around the World, including as a boy soldier fighting the IRA. He guides us through a world of surveillance and intelligence gathering, counter terrorism and hostage rescue. The details are as gripping as one of McNabs Nick Stone novels. First hand experience always gives you a better ability to write fiction more so than any writer who has to do their research. I also found it admirable what these men go through in order to get into the "Regiment" in the first place. Enjoy, hope this helps. John...

Can Lau redeem himself??

Advantages: Great film, good tie up to the trilogy.
Disadvantages: Can be confusing - especially all the names

...I was a big fan of the first film and was unfortunately slightly disappointed by the second instalment. his third and final film of the trilogy, however, makes up for the third and really is very enjoyable. The story returns to the present day with ex triad now policeman Lau (Andy Lau) working full time as a police officer whilst trying to forget his past and lead a new life. Problems arise when one finds out about another Sam mole. This mole could potentially ruin Lau's career. This is the main stage for the film and it is interlaced with flashbacks from the first revealing more of the story between Lau and Chan (Tony Leung). I am a big fan of Andy Lau and this is a formidable addition to his already long list of hits. I saw the film in the original language and I have also seen it in Mandarin. Andy C's selection of...finest?

Advantages: Lots of great titles
Disadvantages: No general mood

...This CD was supposed to be a first really massive compilation of drum'n'bass all time best titles. And it did a good job. But it definetly could have done much better. It's obvious that Andy C wanted to represent d'n'b of all the kinds in his compilation. Here we will find some great jump-up tracks, some funky stuff, some moody tracks and some easy to hear ambient d'n'b. But this also results in an absence of a general mood of a compilation, of some idea that could make these tracks stand together. There's nothing like that here, and fading of some tracks to the others sometimes looks simply odd. Another thing is that although good titles are in good numbers here, there are too much weak ones between them. Because of these two things we have the biggest disadvantage of both CD's: although great tracks are included and the mixing...

However with four best-selling books under his belt all laced with black humour (something serious given a funny twist) he must be doing something right. Long ago my fiancee nicknamed me bunny. ...My recent quest for FREE DVD hire I visited and many DVD web sites that offered a free trial. Now call me tight (no that wasn?t an invite), but I like bargains and freebies and am not ashamed to say so. My quest took me to enough sites to hire DVDs for about four months so far (with plenty to come too). My latest free DVD site also happens to be the best I have tried for several reasons (see rest of op); the site in question is Blockbuster.co.uk. Other sites that I have had free rentals from and then cancelled have all been similar, two weeks free trial with two DVD?s per time ? which in effect gives you about four free DVD?s.
