...Animal Kingdom The main entrance of the parks you go towards the birds, they were some beautiful amazon parents all different colours just sat on there perches and free to fly around, it was lovely to see. We then moved on to the crocodiles, these scared the children a bit, because these were enormous and smelly. But again it was something that you don?t see everyday, so I was good for them. Then we moved on to the safari which we had to book and it was a extra cost (which was unexpected) you got on the back of a wagon like vehicle and stood up while it took you (back stage they called it) to see the animals in close up. This is no good for disabled people ? as my mother has a wheelchair and couldn?t get on. We then saw the monkeys one of them fell in love with my husband orrrr, it was kissing him, there was a window...

...Over the last few years we have watched the building going on at the site of the new Animal Kingdom, and the hype build up through local advertising in Florida and also here in the UK....the park opened just afer we left Florida in 1999, however, as we go to Florida most years we don't normally do Disney unless we have friends or Family with us, but we did decide on spending almost $100 (£65)(for two of us) plus $5 car parking to see Animal Kingdom Last year ( September 2000)... I have to say my first impression was that it looked interesting, we we greeted at the gate by wardens ( actors) with small insects and animals in cages, also actors in various safari themed costumes walking around on stilts... As is typical for Disney there were loads of expensive shops selling Film, camera, Souvenirs etc... we picked up a guide sheet...

Animal Kindgom: Disney meets the animals!

Disadvantages: Lots of walking and not a great number of rides

...Disney's Animal Kingdom is the newest Disney theme park and it's also by far the biggest (about twice the size of EPCOT centre!) so you will be doing a lot of walking! How to get there? Buses operate from all Walt Disney World (WDW) resort hotels. Beware, however, that even when you get off the bus you have a very long walk before you actually arrive at the theme park entrance! If driving, you arrive in a massive car park and then take a bus directly to the theme park entrance. If you arrive early in the day there will virtually no queues anywhere! A Disney cast member told me that when going into the park head left as most guests will turn right! (Not to sure if this is really true!) What is it? Animal Kingdom is a starneg mix of rides and attractions featuring around animals (!) as well as heading back in time to look...

...Disney's Animal Kingdom is refreshing change from the usual theme-park format. Its a lot more laid-back than the other Disney Parks and the emphasis is on entertainment and education rather than thrills and spills! HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE KIDS 'Camp Minnie-Mickey' is where the disney characters 'live' and can be met for autographs and the like. Theres usually someone out and about, and if not there is a timetable telling you when there WILL be characters around. Its usually a pretty quiet area too, with lots of areas to sit and relax. FOR THE BIG KIDS 'It's tough to be a bug' is an excellent 4D simulator style-ride.
